As the Olympic flame was being extinguished, pretty sure Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir were silently sobbing in the booth. I really felt bad for them. I'm sure these games are a great deal of fun for them but alas it's only every four years. But I was sad too. Mostly because I had gotten so into the curling. Garlic girls were unforgettable. Beijing is going to be so hyped! Can't get enough of the Garlic Girls? Well the Women's World Championships are coming up soon, specifically the week of 17-25 March in North Bay, Ontario. In last year's event in Beijing they made their debut on the world stage where they went 5-6 in the round robin and failed to advance to the medal round.
Not sure if it will be Team Shuster representing the USA in the Men's World Curling Championship but the Olympic champions are also the reigning national champions. That event will be 31 March-8 April in Las Vegas. Not surprisingly Canada are the defending world champions in both genders but both are coming off disappointing results in PyeongChang.Kevin

I thought the closing ceremony was impressive. 'Loved the combination of lights and live action.

I love this video. This is right after the end of the gold medal match. Skip Eun Jung Kim is understandably upset. Her coach Peter Gallant consoles her, and lets her know for the first time just how big the team has gotten over the past week (remember that he had confiscated all their phones so they could not be distracted by social media during the tournament. They literally had no idea how popular they had become).

Peter Gallant has to understand that the silver medal is the 1st place loser...just sayin. Hmmmm....looks like the Koreans have used a lot of Canucks to coach many of their Olympic teams. I think it's still best for the Korean dads to send their daughters to cemeteries and become pro golfers. There really is much money in curling.

The Curling team's hometown threw a party for them. Three of the Kims were there, but their skip looks like she, uh, skipped it.
Also, if your name is Yeong Mi in Korea, get ready to cash in! From a recent article:

While I'm here I have to share this clip. It's so emotional. I'll be honest, I cannot watch it without getting teary, and I am a big tough jerk. These have to be the sweetest girls to ever make it into the international sporting spotlight.

Although they all have fame now, it's pretty clear that Eun Jung is the Mick Jagger of that team. If she starts getting a lot of special treatment, will it break apart the camaraderie they share? I sure hope not!

Thrilling and touching opening ceremony for the Paralympics. Garlic Girls' skip Annie was at the top of the staircase to greet the flame relay runners (one of whom was blind, the other with a prosthetic leg). She then assisted a wheelchair athlete in lighting the flame.
The parade of nations had the same Korean girls lining the route doing their funny dances. For some reason North and South Korea came in separately this time.
According to the BBC, the brand new 35,000 seat stadium was about one-third empty. At the conclusion of the games, the building will be demolished.
KOR-USA curling tonight at 12:30am ET, followed by KOR-JPN. I think it involves wheelchairs. I have a feeling the Garlic Girls will be in attendance.

Garlic Girls' skip Annie was at the top of the staircase to greet the flame relay runners (one of whom was blind, the other with a prosthetic leg). She then assisted a wheelchair athlete in lighting the flame. Man...the Koreans are drooling over Annie....IMO.....her yelling and screaming gives her a huge amount of SEX APPEAL...she's gotta be a spark plug and not a loaf of bread. Those librarian glasses add to the HOTNESS too. She's also a control freak too...noticed she didn't let the athlete in the wheelchair light the cauldron on his own....Korean women LUV to boss men around. I have some paralysis (broken femur & severed sciatic nerve from a skiing accident) in my right leg and wear a plastic ankle foot orthotic. Many years ago my girlfriend and I went to a mall in Toronto to shop on Boxing Day...obviously it was a zoo.....I couldn't find a parking space....as I drove by several empty handicap parking spots, I said: "You know...... if a get a note from my doctor....I could likely get a handicap parking tag/decal" She said..."You're right .....you probably could get one....in fact .....why don't you get one right after you just walked 18 holes of golf" Then she said....:"You know...you really are a TOOL aren't you" I said....."YUP".
