www.lpga.com/news/2018-park-makes-season-debut-in-thailandNamdalla telling The Establishment to FO....just like the old school boys of REAL golf...learning to score and play on their own. I bet mom sits on the range for hours....you also see it here too....but no white skin mom or dad would do that here. More YANK racism.....goes unnoticed at the country club. fanofseri made a post in the comment section. Ooops...sorry I put this in the wrong thread...s/b 19th Hole.

During the first run of the Men's Slalom, Bode Miller was giving a lot of technical explanations on the tricky snow conditions...he had similar comments during the Women's Downhill yesterday. He is too much of a gentleman to say this game's alpine ski center is a goat track. It wouldn't surprise me if the Beijing games in 2022 are worse...per Wikipedia, the Xiaohaituo Mountain area (about 90 km NW of Beijing) gets very little natural snow.

Still LMAO how the Chinese GREASED their way to 2022. Just six cities considered bidding on 2022. Krakow and Stockholm pulled out early in the process and Lviv in Ukraine was practically forced to once Russia started mucking things up, leaving Beijing up against Oslo and first time bidder Almaty in Kazakhstan. The Norwegians pulled out at the last minute due to lack of support, which assured a second consecutive Winter Olympics in Asia, and it was a close vote with Beijing winning 44-40 over Almaty. Since the Salt Lake bidding scandal the IOC has sought to be more transparent in its procedures, but that's not to say that China didn't exert other kinds of influence over the vote.Kevin

I am really excited for the KOR V JPN curling semifinal tomorrow at 6am ET. Been getting up to speed on Team Kim's exploits so far. In the round robin they easily beat GBR, which is made up entirely of Scots, i.e. the people who invented this game. Sound familiar? At this rate it won't be long before Koreans are log-tossing and blowing bagpipes. Don't want to get too hyped but I feel we could be witnessing the birth of the next big Korean sporting phenomenon.

Me too. Besides the usual hype for any Japan vs. Korea competition, Japan is also the only team that has defeated Korea in this Olympics. This really feels like the big match up. Go Garlic Girls! Another interesting tidbit. The Curlers have a Canadian coach. This might be the best Canadian coach-Korean female athlete combo since Brian Orser and Yuna Kim. Here's the English translation of the Kim Eun Jung reaction tweet! Yongmi!!!

The day before yesterday, the Korean men won a surprise silver medal in the long track team pursuit. They made it into the finals against Norway, but alas the Norwegians handled them pretty well. Still, a silver is pretty good and the house was ROCKING.
The Japanese women manhandled the Dutch in the women's final to earn the gold. I was rather surprised to see the Dutch lose anything in this sport.

Move over Yuna Kim. I think Eun Jung could become the new face of Korean winter sports. Yuna is a godlike talent and captured the hearts of millions but let's face it, figure skating is such a severe endeavor. It's not exactly fun times. Curling on the other hand has big potential proletarian appeal. Kind of like golf, it's a fun and social target-based game. I just started watching a few days ago but I can see why it's fun. It's got a little bit of bowling, little bit of chess, bit of billiards, etc. And in the Winter Olympics it's refreshing to see a game being played. I think curling and hockey are the only actual games, everything else is either a race or some sort of pageantry contest. Bah, most of the races aren't even races, they are time trials.

Curling will never catch on to be an elite sport where many will want to watch (a least in my lifetime) ....most curlers even can't make a living doing so and hold down F/T jobs. The Scarboro CC in Toronto decided to tear down their 60 year old curling rink to make way for Metrolinx (public transit)....the golf course will remain intact.
Curling is a good corporate team building activity though.
That said....I'll record the Korea vs. Japan match to watch what all the hype is about the yellow skin four eye dictator.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Winter_OlympicsThe link above has miscellaneous speculation on who's in the running for the 2026 Winter Games (the IOC will decide that Sept. 2019). Calgary is one of the major candidates and I hope they get it again. I really liked the '88 Games in Calgary. ******* Kristi Yamaguchi was just on TV ... on Wiki it says she's only 5' 1" tall ... that surprises me. It says she's still married to ex-NHLer Brett Hedican.

Before learning to skate, Mirai Nagasu was a golfer... www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-mirai-nagasu-parents-2018020-story.htmlWhen his daughter was 2½, he said, he started taking her out to play golf, and "she was quite, quite good. I was hoping, you know, that she can be a professional and I can be her caddy." But one day when she was 5, it was raining and she went ice skating instead. "That was it. Done," he said, extending his arm with a mock flourish. "My dream, crushed." Hmmmm...so let me understand the work ethics and integrity of the Japanese culture vs. Korean culture. Nagasu's two parents work day and night so they can fund the very expensive coaching and expenses of Mirai's skating dreams and In the Korean culture the parent(s) will either sell their business and/or quit their job so they can put all the PRESSURE on their teenage daughter to feed the family. Make their daughters sleep in cemeteries, throw luggage at competitors to try to end their golf career, force their daughter back to the practice green after a long day of practice and playing, tax evade and then threaten people to embarrass their daughter who has to publicly apologize for their dad's behavior, etc, etc. Am I missing something? And we wonder why no member(s) on this site will acknowledge they are Korean??
