The field for the May 16 qualifier in Becker, MN is set: www.mngolf.org/Res/2016%20Starting%20Times.pdfI assume it will boil down to two pros fighting for one spot, Jing Yan vs. Amy Anderson. I wonder what ex-champ Jerilyn Britz will shoot. ************** Britz must be a fake...I looked up Britz in Minnisota in the USGA GHIN....no Jerilyn...and does anyone believe a 73 year old Britz is a 2.4 or better cap? If they play at 6500+ yds like supposedly they claim at The Home Course in Dupont, WA....Jerilyn will embarrass herself at that yardage.

Yes Annika's USWO win was special, because I believe it was her first LPGA win. However I was a Karrie Web fan. Because I thought she had one of the greatest iron swings ever.

Victoria teen Naomi Ko to battle LPGA’s best at U.S. Women's Open www.timescolonist.com/sports/victoria-teen-naomi-ko-to-battle-lpga-s-best-at-u-s-women-s-open-1.2251713Yes, the local 18-year-old freshman at North Carolina State will likely have the opportunity to meet the No. 1 women’s player in the world as Naomi Ko also qualified for the annual LPGA major through a sectional on Monday at The Home Course in DuPont, Washington. Naomi Ko followed up a morning 2-over 74 with a spectacular 5-under 67 in the afternoon in the 36-hole event and secured the one and only available qualifying spot (among a field of 48), edging Caroline Inglis of the University of Oregon by two strokes.

I enjoyed the 1990 tournament in Atlanta. Sheehan's collapse was epic. I also enjoyed the look on Morgan's face when Birdie hit that atrocious bunker shot and it went straight in the hole. Alfredsson's meltdown was tremendous as well.

I was thinking, do anyone else have a special USWO memory. In Gees final round was pretty special. My most memorable USWO final round had to be. Allison Nichols denying Nancy Lopez the Grand Slam in the Open. I think it was Lopez final year. Allison had one of those go for broke swings. It was like the final round Jimin Kang played against Julie Inkster to deny her history. Not sure but I think it were Allison's only LPGA win. So many... This has been hands down my favorite Major over the years. - Se Ri hitting out of the water trap after taking off her shoes - the definitive moment in Korean golf history. How often can you pinpoint the exact moment a revolution took place? This was it. Nothing was ever the same again. - A playoff between two of my all time favorites, Hee Kyung Seo and So Yeon Ryu. Ryu made some pretty great shots to even get into that playoff, rescued herself after a terrible tee shot into the bunker on 16, and made a great birdie on the last to force the playoff. I remember to this day the look on her face as she walked up to the final green, the win in her grasp, as the enormity of what she had just done started to hit her. Johnny Miller called it perfectly. I miss that guy. - Birdie denies Morgan Pressel, whom they had been babbling on about for hours before that. SO SWEET. It was also the first time a Korean had won that event since Se Ri. (And I happen to think she hit the exact shot she was trying to hit out of that bunker, trying to dribble it out so it wouldn't run off the green). Pressel's 'OH NO' reaction was classic, but so was Brittany Lang, who was tied for the lead at that point and watching in the clubhouse cafeteria. She tried to maintain her calm while these Korean guys behind her were totally losing it. - In Gee's win was incredible. Amy Yang fought hard. It came down to the final hole. In Gee flat out earned that victory. My favorite win since Ryu's in any event. - Inbee Park collects the third straight Major in 2013 by dominating the field. May not have been a nailbiter, but in terms of out and out brilliance, I can't think of another Korean performance that beats it. Due respect to Eun Hee Ji, NYC dominating at Blackwolf Run and Inbee's first win, but the above were my top choices for sure.

To be honest I was disappointed when Hee Kyung So lost to So Yeon. I thought the Golf Officials making Hee Kyung rush to finish caused her to make bogey on eighteen.
Then I go to a tournament twenty twelve, in Phoenix with a friend of Jimin Kang to follow her. So Yeon just happen to be paired with her. I knew right then that she would be special. Not only for her golf, but as a person. When she finished the round, she came over and thanked us. I did not see Se Ri win.

We LPGA fanboys didn't have many fav's in the old days when we consider that Dottie was considered a LPGA hottie along with Korean hating, Jan S.

She might have been the leader at Crooked Stick at some point, I don't remember. I was thinking of 1994 when she had a seven stroke lead during the 3rd round and ended up finishing 8 strokes behind Sheehan.
