No change in the overall men's standings this past week.
Byeong Hun An (down 1 to #26) was idle.
K.T. Kim (up 3 to #42) finished 2nd at the KPGA's SK Telecom Open. The second highest ranked player in the field, K.J. Choi, dropped 4 to #111 despite finishing T5. So much for supporting one of your sponsors, I guess.
Kim's closest pursuers for the second and final Olympic spot were both at Rory McIlroy's clambake at the K Club, otherwise known as the Irish Open. Neither were able to stick around for the weekend, so while Soomin Lee remains at #69 Jeunghun Wang dropped one to #71. Not much of a warmup as the pair join their countryman An at Wentworth this coming week for the BMW PGA Championship.

Race to Rio Intensifies Among South Koreans on LPGA Tour www.golf.com/tour-and-news/olympics-2016-race-rio-intensifies-among-south-koreans-lpga-tourANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- The race to Rio is playing out all over the globe with athletes competing for coveted spots. On the LPGA Tour, the competition among a slew of talented South Korean players to compete in Olympic golf this summer is particularly intense. "To think someone could be the ninth best player in the world, but might not be able to make the Olympic team from Korea, that's pretty amazing," LPGA Tour Commissioner Mike Whan said Wednesday. If the team was set now, that would happen because no more than four players from a country can play. Ha Na Jang is No. 9 in the world ranking, but trails four fellow South Koreans: No. 2 Inbee Park, No. 4 Sei Young Kim, No. 7 In Gee Chun and No. 8 Amy Yang. Jang, who hasn't played in an LPGA Tour event in a month, is not in the field this week in the inaugural Volvik Championship at Travis Pointe Country Club. And, she isn't expected to return until the KPMG Women's PGA in two weeks. Jang's break might be tied to an attention-grabbing situation in Singapore on the way to the HSBC Champions. Her father lost control of a traveling bag that tumbled down an escalator and hit Chun in the lower back, forcing her to withdraw from some events. Jang then won the tournament and moved ahead of Chun in the ranking, bumping Chun to fifth among South Koreans. Chun has forgiven Jang's father, saying it was simply an accident, but her parents didn't seem to be happy with Jang's apology. On the course, the competition creates another source of drama.

5/30/16: Hyo Joo Kim was the only top ten at the Volvik tournament, but In Gee finished 11th and Sei Young 16th. Inbee dropped out yet again. She is really hurting. Meanwhile, Ha Na Jang shoved ahead of Amy Yang and onto the team without playing!
2. Inbee Park 8.61 (same) 5. Sei Young Kim 6.25 (-1 spot) 7. In Gee Chun 6.02 (same) 8. Ha Na Jang 5.86 (+1 spot)
Outside looking in: 9. Amy Yang 5.74 (-1 spot) 12. So Yeon Ryu 4.80 (-1 spot) 14. Hyo Joo Kim 4.31 (same) 16. Bo Mee Lee 4.15 (same) 18. Sung Hyun Park 3.88 (same) 21. Na Yeon Choi 3.75 (same)

The Wentworth Three came away from the BMW PGA Championship with fair to middling results and each dropped a little in the OWGR, meaning little change in the race to claim one of Korea's two Olympic slots.
Byeong Hun An (down one to #27) and Jeunghun Wang (down three to #74) finished T33 while Soomin Lee (down two to #71) finished T67.
An had better be careful the next month and a half or he might be overtaken by K.T. Kim for the top spot. By winning the Mizuno Open in Japan the second-ranked Korean moved up five spots to #37, ten slots below Byeong Hun. The event was part of the Open Qualifying Series but with his place in the Top 50 Kim was already assured of going to Royal Troon along with An.

Dr. Won Park must be giving IGC bad instruction on purpose to ensure she won't qualify for the Olympics. That would demonstrate his caring nature and explain her poor play this spring.

Dr. Won Park must be giving IGC bad instruction on purpose to ensure she won't qualify for the Olympics. That would demonstrate his caring nature and explain her poor play this spring. There are 3 In Gee levels; 1. The one who hit that incredible shot on par 3 #17 to win 2015 USWO; and the one who birdied 6 straight holes at Kingsmill 2. The one who was knocking on the door for her first 4 tournaments this season 3. The one who played her last 4 tournaments; basically outside of top 10, which was what she did for all her 2015 LPGA tournaments She is currently between level 2 and 3. The key to her play is putting. She will be consistently between level 1 and 2 when she trusts herself and believes in her green reading. The prognosis for her future is bright. Even during her worst days when she isn't contending, her ball striking keeps her in the game.

www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-36426947The more I think about it...the more I think the gals should stay away from Rio. The winner will likely be a top 20 RR pro...and many of these gals are so young.....wait for Tokyo in 2020. Same with the male pros too. Why chance getting infected for the sake of a medal vs. a life time of a child with a birth defect.

The first one I believe was the usual outspoken Stacy, who voiced her concern couple months ago. SYR said in an recent interview that her top goals is to win tournaments and get into top 3 ranking. Making the Olympic team comes after that. GC asked Inbee why she wouldn't rest her injured thumb for the Olympics, instead of limping through the recent tournaments for HOF point. She gave an ambivalent and vague response. Maybe she is trying to use her thumb injury to bail out of the Olympics ?

6/13/16: After the KPMG. Amy Yang managed a top ten, Sei Young close.
The below is the official International Crown team (keep in mind that Inbee Park may very well drop out, but these are the four who qualified). Note that other than Inbee, this is a completely different team from the 2014 edition.
3. Inbee Park 8.23 (-1 spot) 5. Sei Young Kim 6.31 (same) 6. In Gee Chun 6.02 (same) 8. Amy Yang 5.82 (+1 spot)
Outside looking in: 10. Ha Na Jang 5.74 (-2 spots) 11. So Yeon Ryu 5.06 (same) 16. Bo Mee Lee 4.23 (+1 spot) 17. Hyo Joo Kim 4.18 (-3 spots) 19. Sung Hyun Park 3.91 (same) 21. Na Yeon Choi 3.60 (same)

I can't imagine how the soft spoken, sweet heart Amy could be the "veteran" leader of this team... Her task may well include breaking up fights between Ha Na and Dumbo, and/or between the fathers.
