Hey folks!
I thought it would be fun to keep a running record of the battle to get on the Korean Olympic team.
Here is the team just before the start of the LPGA season, and who is close to making it. Keep in mind this is before Hyo Joo's win in the Bahamas; I'll adjust these totals tomorrow!
1/25/16
On the Team (ranking, point total) 2. Inbee Park 10.72 5. So Yeon Ryu 5.69 7. Sei Young Kim 5.53 8. Amy Yang 5.16
Outside Looking in: 9. In Gee Chun 5.00 10. Hyo Joo Kim 4.94 13. Ha Na Jang 4.30 15. Bo Mee Lee 4.03 19. Na Yeon Choi 3.56

I think the battle for the 4th spot will come down to SYR vs. Dumbo....I think SYR edges out Dumbo in the end.

Any combinations of In Bee, Sei Young, So Yeon, Hyo Joo, Amy, In Gee and Ha Na are all plausible.
In Bee may not make the team either because she is hurt, or if she doesn't earn a single Rolex point in 2016.

I think InBee Park and Sei Young Kim are locks for the team, and the other two spots will be battled for by So Yeon Ryu, HaNa Jang, and Hyo Joo Kim. Well, maybe In Gee Chun, too. No Olympics for Amy Yang or Na Yeon Choi.

They were a day late posting the rankings for some reason. Anyway, here is the rest of the information following Ha Na Jang's win at the Coates.
Of interest: So Yeon Ryu and Hyo Joo Kim are virtually tied for the third spot, with Ryu still a smidge ahead. In Gee moved ahead of Amy but got passed by Ha Na, so is still in the same spot.
2. Inbee Park 10.11 (same) 5. Sei Young Kim 5.87 (same) 6. So Yeon Ryu 5.39 (same) 7. Hyo Joo Kim 5.39 (same)
Outside looking in: 9. Ha Na Jang 5.17 (+5 spots) 10. In Gee Chun 5.08 (same) 11. Amy Yang 4.93 (-2 spots) 16. Bo Mee Lee 3.91 (-1 spot) 20. Na Yeon Choi 3.37 (-1 spot)

I'm sure I am repeating myself, but I called into a radio show that was discussing Earl and Tiger Woods and Earl's book Training a Tiger. This was long before he got married. I said that Earl Woods did everything right except he should have had Tiger castrated. Naturally, they hung up on me, but it turned out I was right.

Huh...what the heck does TW & Earl have to do with SYR not making the Korean teams? I'm not surprised the hung up on your being an idiot....your behavior is suspect.

Tiger's game was ruined by his increasing interest in women. SYR was a better player before the Italian.

If the Italian actually exists, and at this point he's just a rumor, she has been apparently seeing him for quite a while. I'm not seeing any tailing off of her game from the start of her LPGA career to now...
I'm more concerned that she thinks it's a good idea to revamp her swing in an Olympic year. Since they never show top ten golfers from Korea unless they are in contention, I have yet to see how her swing is doing. Hopefully she just made a few minor tweaks and it won't take her long to absorb the changes.

If you look at SYR's stats over the years....and yes they are only stats and don't tell the whole story...but she has been a consistent ball striker as demonstrated by her GIR% rankings....so from there I look....could it be her putting?...nope....putting stats of putts per GIR and avg putt/rd ranking seem to be consistent year over year.
So in my 3 minute analysis....I'd say it's her mental game that needs work to win more events....and she really didn't need to change her swing.
IMO....golf is 80& mental.....and it maybe in her DNA that she just doesn't have that killer instinct to get it done to win more....it's close but not close enough.
I don't think SYR's performance is getting worse...I just think the competition is getting tougher year over year and others are passing by her.
I think Lexi's putting woes are mental....and this mental block will keep her from winning more often.
Golf is a cruel game mentally....e.g.) yesterday on a par 5.....there's lots of room to the left for a 2nd approach shot though one needs to carry a creek in the distance and a hazard off to the right....I know this and have unfortunately blocked shots to the right into trouble more often than I like. With all this info...guess what I do yesterday?...yup...fan a shot to the right...not staying committed and swinging down through my shot. Yes...this area is sloped so a right shot is common...I know this ......but still hit too many weak and right shots.
On Sunday....the only trouble on 17 was water to the left...Fowler knows this....guess what he does on the 4th playoff hole...yup...draws his ball too much into the hazard.

To see if she has made any drastic changes. I really hope not, except to have worked on her putting.
