Byeong Hun An was in the Monday sudden death playoff at the conclusion of the rain-shortened PGA Tour event near New Orleans and although he didn't win he did inch his way into the top 25 in the World Rankings at #24. It was his first start anywhere since missing the cut at Augusta.
Although An isn't likely to be overtaken as top ranked Korean by K.T. Kim as the latter plays primarily in Asia the results the past three weeks are nothing to sneeze at. Kim's last appearance in North America was at Doral two months ago and since then he has two victories and a runner-up finish in Japan, vaulting him up to #48.
Soomin Lee won last week's European Tour event in Shenzhen, China, vaulting over his hyung K.J. Choi in the process to enter the top 100 at #75 and despite missing the cut this week in Beijing remains there. K.J. is now down to #111 after a MC at Harbour Town, a T51 in San Antonio and a MC this week in Louisiana.

The points are so tight, it's a bit ridiculous.
A solo 2nd or better would vault Ha Na to No. 2 over Amy, if Amy fails to make top 10.

K.T. Kim is starting to hear footsteps behind him as potential challengers for his #2 qualifying position start to queue up. He holds onto that spot this week thanks to a T3 at a domestic KPGA event that is co-sanctioned with the OneAsia Tour, the GS Caltax Maekyung Open, moving from 48 to 43. Soomin Lee finished solo 2nd in Korea and remains Kim's closest pursuer, moving from 75 to 68.
The most impressive move was by Jeunghun Wang, who won on the 2nd playoff hole at the European Tour event in Morocco, the Trophee Hassan II, and in so doing cracks the top 100. In moving from 133 to 88 he not only leapfrogs the idle K.J. Choi (frozen at 111) but also Younghan Song, who dropped from 122 to 125 despite finishing T21 in Korea.
The top ranked Korean in men's golf, Byeong Hun An, missed the cut in Charlotte but remains at #24.

Crazy there are 4 players in the top 15 in the world who wouldn't be on the ROK Stars team as of today.

I didn't realize Byeong was ranked so high....I saw him at Chambers Bay....he and Hideki are pretty big guys...not your typical smaller frame Asian.

Brazilian soccer star warns foreigners to stay home: www.cnn.com/2016/05/11/sport/rivaldo-brazil-olympics-2016/index.htmlKudos to the PGA Tour golfers who have recently dropped out of The Games. Unfortunately, the "Group Think" insanity of The Olympics being good and necessary for golf persists almost as strongly as the Zika virus. Gerina Piller needs to seriously consider her future, as she has moved up from #28 to #16 in the world since the start of 2016. I was poking around a Seattle newspaper site and they had an article on Jing Yan (ex-Washington Husky). It said the reason she dropped out of school half way into her freshman season was that she thought turning pro immediately gave her the best chance for making China's Olympic team! Total madness! (especially since she had no chance of overtaking Xi Yu Lin or SS Feng).

Did you see this article? It seems like the South Koreans are addressing the Zika issue! South Koreans unveil anti-Zika Olympic uniform"South Korea's stars will wear tracksuits which have been infused with insect repellant designed to keep mosquitoes away, as well as long pants and blazers for the opening and closing ceremonies."

I still see exposed skin with the above uniforms. This would be better:

I'm sure the Chinese government gi gi's have put a lucrative bounty on a gold medal...they'll grease anyone to get what they want. I believe all the Chinese paying $5M+ or offering $1M over asking price for Vancouver tear down lots is money laundering. There are so many 'cash' deals for houses and cars here. The Smiling Buddha is looking for a new mainland China wife so in the future he can afford to valet park his car at a LPGA....as of now he's getting a friend to create a GoFundMe page so he can attend the KPMG.

We still have the same two Korean men poised to go to Rio as last week, but the idle K.T. Kim (down two places to #45 in the OWGR) is still potentially vulnerable in his #2 qualifying spot.
It may seem as though the whole golfing universe revolved around TPC Sawgrass, where top Korean Byeong Hun An missed the cut to drop one place to #25, but there was other golf being played. The European, Asian and Sunshine Tours tri-sanctioned this week's Mauritius Open. After winning last week at the diagonal opposite side of Africa in Morocco Jeunghun Wang took top honors in the island nation east of Madagascar and in so doing vaulted from #88 to #70. He is now just behind new #69 and #3 Korean Soomin Lee, who dropped a spot in the OWGR after finishing T59 in Mauritius.
Despite finishing T43 at Sawgrass, 2011 Players Champion K.J. Choi moved from #111 to #107, keeping alive his slim hope of going to Rio as a not just a captain but a player as well.

I think Ha Na might have decided she doesn't want to beat In Gee out for a spot on the team.
