This is it! The final KLPGA event of the season. Hyo Joo Kim has wrapped up all the big awards (definitely POY, money list and most wins, and unless she shoots in the 90s she should grab scoring average as well). But the Rookie race is still up for grabs, and all three ladies want this one badly. Guest star MJ Hur will also be in the field. Action starts on the 14th!

MJ Hur was featured in an interview before her appearance in this event. She says she attended a Korean men's event last weekend and was recognized by many in the gallery, something which didn't used to happen to her before her win this year. In other news, a recent article published the point values at stake in the coming event for the Rookie of the Year race. 1st place is worth 230 points, second 120, third 115, fourth 110, etc. It's not clear if that pattern continues, since I saw at least one article claim a 40th was worth 25 points. What this means is, if any of the top three Rookies win this event, she will be Rookie of the Year. But since Baek has a 74 point advantage, she would only need 47 points to beat either of the other two ladies if they finish second. My guess is she would have that with a top ten for sure and probably a top twenty. So as long as Ko or Kim don't win, and Baek plays even reasonably well, she should be the one to beat this week for the ROY.

I looked at the weather forecast....Seoul's weather is similar to Van City....sunny and cold...freezing overnight. I suspect there will be frost delays.
I played yesterday....they only converted from temp greens to reg greens at 11am and it's getting dark just before 5pm....and the greens in shade were semi frozen and some greens I could only get my ball repair tool only 1/2" into the green.

Just tried the usual SBS golf video link and it's not working...I'll try later. Hye Youn Kim is in a three-way lead at -3 after 12 holes. Jung Min Lee is -3 after 6 holes.

Round 1: Five Tied for LeadFive players shot a 68 in round one to take a share of the lead. Perhaps the biggest name in that group was multiple tour winner Bo Kyung Kim. Several stars shot 69s and are poised one shot back, including Yoon Kyung Heo, In Gee Chun, and Hye Youn Kim. Hyo Joo Kim shot a 71; Ha Neul Kim (looking for her first win of the year) shot a 71 as well. Among the rookie stars, Kyu Jung Baek came out of the gate struggling and shot a 3 over par 75. Jin Young Ko shot a 71 and is tied for 19th, while Min Sun Kim shot a 72. At this point Baek still has the advantage, but she's going to want to get closer to the top of the leaderboard to insure she doesn't lose the Rookie of the Year award without a fight. Two more days! Scores: 1. Bo Kyung Kim, Da Som Lee, Hyun Min Byun, So Yeon Park, Su Hwa Jang 68 -3 Notables: 6. Yoon Kyung Heo, In Gee Chun, Seung Hyun Lee, Honey Moon, Hye Youn Kim 69 -3 14. Ran Hong, Ha Na Jang 70 -2 19. Hyo Joo Kim, Jin Young Ko (R), MJ Hur, Ha Neul Kim, Je Yoon Yang, Shin Ae Ahn 71 -1 30. Min Young Lee 2, Min Sun Kim 5 (R), Jung Min Lee 72 Even 40. Char Young Kim, Chae Young Yoon 73 +1 48. Da Na Kim, Ji Hee Kim, Sei Young Kim 74 +2 54. Shi Hyun Ahn, Kyu Jung Baek (R) 75 +3

Round 2: Heo Takes Three Shot LeadYoon Kyung Heo is playing some great golf right now. She won two weeks ago and lost in a playoff last week. Now here she is again with the lead, looking for her third win of 2014. She shot a 6 under par 66 to zoom to 9 under and a three shot lead. Tied for second are three players. The most notable one is 20-year-old star In Gee Chun, who shot a 69. Hye Youn Kim is among those at 5 under, while top player Ha Na Jang is at 4 under. In the battle for the Rookie crown, none of the three 19-year-old stars is having a good week. Currently Jin Young Ko is tops among them at 1 under, tied for 24th. Two shots behind her is Min Sun Kim, with Kyu Jung Baek another two behind her. At this moment, Baek still has the ROY. But if Ko can run a little more up the leaderboard, Baek will have to play better to insure she can win the crown. Ha Neul Kim is at 3 under, 6 back, with one more shot at winning an event this season! One more day left in this fabulous 2014 KLPGA season! Scores: 1. Yoon Kyung Heo 66 -9 2. In Gee Chun 69 -6 - Su Hwa Jang 70 -6 - Ji Hyun Kim 68 -6 5. Hye Youn Kim 70 -5 - Honey Moon 70 -5 Notables: 7. Ha Na Jang 70 -4 - MJ Hur 69 -4
- Ran Hong 70 -4 15. Jung Min Lee 69 -3 - Ha Neul Kim 70 -3 24. Min Young Lee 2 71 -1 - Jin Young Ko (R) 72 -1 - Je Yoon Yang 72 -1 30. Hyo Joo Kim 73 Even - Shin Ae Ahn 73 Even - Ji Hee Kim 70 Even 37. Min Sun Kim 5 (R) 73 +1 41. Char Young Kim 73 +2 46. Sei Young Kim 73 +3 - Kyu Jung Baek (R) 72 +3 55. Shi Hyun Ahn 73 +4 - Chae Young Yoon 75 +4
