The last event of the KLPGA season is upon us! Defending champion is In Gee Chun, and this is also scheduled to be her final event as a full time member. That is, if she plays. You can tell that the KLPGA kinda is hoping she does: (if you don't recognize that silhouette, turn in your union card!) Currently In Gee is go, and there will be at least one special guest: Mirim Lee. Action starts Friday!

IMO....Dumbo should rest up and shut it down this year....she's young and has many more years ahead.

Theoretically, In Gee could play in four more events this year: this week's event, the Silly Season Queen of Queens next week (this is a two-day, small field tournament consisting only of the very top players on tour); the team event pitting KLPGA vs. JLPGA vs. LET; and the Hyundai China event, which takes place in December and which is the first event of the 2016 season. Chun finished second to Hyo Joo last year in that one. HOWEVER... It is my hope that she calls it a day after this week and skips the rest of the year to get better. There are only so many events you can play!!

She's also eligible to play in the CME Globe Championship on the LPGA Tour - non-member winners get an invite, meaning she, Ahn, and Brooke Henderson all get invited. I'm assuming only one of those three will be showing up, though.

But you're right, she could have if she wanted to!

In-gee is not going to be at the CME but will instead be in Japan for the next two weeks, the final event on the tour JLPGA Tour Championship followed by the team event the Queen's Cup Presented by Kowa representing the KLGPA!

The above photo shows all the KLPGA-based winners on tour this year (so not the LPGA guests who have won tournaments, like So Yeon Ryu).
They are: Min Sun Kim (1 win), Min Song Ha (1 win), Sung Hyun Park (3 wins), Hye Youn Kim (1 win), Jin Young Ko (3 wins), Jung Eun Lee 5 (1 win), Jung Min Lee (3 wins), Bo Kyung Kim (1 win), Yoon Ji Cho (1 win), and (front): Ji Hyun Oh (1 win), In Gee Chun (5 wins), Shin Ae Ahn (1 win).

Wow, that is really disappointing. I hope she is not extending herself too much, or that she will consider dropping out of at least the Queen's Cup, which is wholly unnecessary for her to play in given her condition.

Happy Totally agree. Obviously I'm not a doctor nor do I know the severity of her injury...but reading some info on the internet...seems like an injury that should be rested now. Look at how long it's taken Ariya to return from her shoulder injury...and who knows if she's back to pre-injury form. Dumbo is young....no need to rush. I hope In Gee's sponsors aren't pushing her. IMO...Wie plays a lot...especially considering she's injury prone...I really believe her sponsors push her to play or have influencing covenants in her contracts about the rate of play. Same with Tiger...he had no business playing this year...he's lost all his dynamic transition speed...he always seems stuck...his upper body can keep up with his hips firing/clearing...everything is out of sequence......and he blames it on his nonactive glutes...huh...WTF....I think he made this up.

Round 1: Two tie for Lead, Chun Struggles
In Gee Chun comes into this event struggling with a shoulder injury. She had to miss the previous event, and the doctors suggested she skip this week, too. But this is also In Gee's last KLPGA event as a member, and she is defending champion to boot. So, she decided to give it a go. Alas, it did not go well for her. She struggled to a 75, putting her near the bottom in the limited field event. Her final two holes were both bogies, the second an unfortunate three putt from about 15 feet. So far, it seems more like rust than injury causing her woes. Two players shot 66s in the rainy conditions: Bo Ah Kim and Su Yeon Jang. Jung Min Lee, the only player who can catch In Gee Chun for Player of the Year, played with In Gee in round one. She shot a 71 and sits tied for 24th. She will probably need around a 3rd place finish or better to catch In Gee, and at the moment she is still positioned to make that possible. Two more days! Scores: 1. Su Yeon Jang, Bo Ah Kim 66 -6 3. Hye Jung Choi 2, Hee Kyung Bae 67 -5 5. Su Yeon Lee (A), Sul Ah Yoon 68 -4 Notables: 7. Min Young Lee, Cecilia Cho, Seon Woo Bae, Julie Yang, Ran Hong 69 -3 16. Watching them play in the cold. My thoughts went to how hard it is to loosen up when you are injury free. It is especially hard when you have an injury. I hope In Gee doesn't try to force anything and make it worse. Her first responsibility should be to herself. I am sure it will not be to hard for her to get other sponsors.

Round 2: Hye Jung Choi 2 Takes One Shot Lead
Hye Jung Choi is a name associated with a golfer who once played on the LPGA, and who has won several KLPGA events. But there is a second Hye Jung Choi, a much newer tour member. This one shot a 64 on day two to vault into first place at 13 under total. Right behind her is New Zealand Korean star Cecilia Cho. She shot an even better round, a 63, and now sits one back of the lead. Among the bigger names, Sung Hyun Park shot a 65, but still only got to 9 under, four back. In Gee Chun shot a 70 to move to 1 over total, two shots behind Jung Min Lee. Remember that Lee, who is now 43rd, will need to make a big move tomorrow if she wants to steal POY from Chun. Lee needs to be top five, probably third or better, with Chun finishing outside the top ten. One more day! Scores: 1. Hye Jung Choi 2 64 -13 2. Cecilia Cho 63 -12 3. Su Yeon Jang 67 -11 4. Seon Woo Bae 66, Min Young Lee 66, Sung Hyun Park 65 -9 Notables: 7. Yoon Ji Cho 66 -7 11. Ran Hong 69 -6 14. Ji Hyun Oh 68, Gyeol Park (R) 68 -5 20. Round 3: Hye Jung Choi 2 Wins Final Event of the KLPGA Season
For most of this season and her career, Hye Jung Choi 2 has not bee one of the top players on tour. Indeed, until last month, her best finish on tour this season was a 16th place. But she notched a top five at the Pak Se Ri Invitational, a fourth at last week's tournament, and finally broke through with her first career win this week.
Choi shot 67-64 in the first two rounds to come into the final round holding a one shot lead. She didn't get out to a great start on Sunday, however, making one bogey and one birdie on the front nine. She caught fire just in time on the back nine, making birdies on holes 11 through thirteen, then finishing with two more to card a 68. This moved her to 17 under, one of the best three round scores of the season, and gave her a three shot win.
In second was Sung Hyun Park, who rallied from starting the day at 9 under and shot a 67.
In Gee Chun clinched the Player of the Year and Scoring titles when Jung Min Lee finished well outside the top ten.
Chun thus collected the four post-season awards she was eligible for (the others being Most Wins and Money List Leader). Her finish, tied for 56th, was the worst of the season, and thus she was not able to become the second player to eclipse the billion won mark in a season.
Ji Young Park will claim the Rookie of the Year title.
But the attention on this day goes to Hye Jung Choi 2. Congratulations to her on her win!

Jae Eun Chung is really racking up the frequent flyer miles this year between Japan and Korea. Omission of Hye Youn Kim from weekend pix now corrected:
