more pics and video on my blog: Ha-Neul Kim Wins 2015 Munsingwear Ladies Tokai Classic (JLPGA)Ha-Neul KimI’ve loved following the LPGA of Japan (JLPGA) for a long time now. The players, the high quality of competition, the way the crowds support women’s golf in Japan…it is all terrific. However, if there is one itsy bitsy teeny tiny Lilliputian thing that I don’t care for it’s that I am also a Seoul Sisters fan. That is to say, I am a fan of Korean women’s golfers. I particularly love to see the best of them come to the United States to play on the LPGA. That is certainly still happening with recent ace players like Hyo-Joo Kim and Sei Young Kim, among others, joining established superstars like So Yeon Ryu and world #1 Inbee Park. However, with the impressive prize money on the JLPGA, some recent stars of the LPGA of Korea (KLPGA) have chosen to stay closer to home and ply their trade in Japan. Sun Ju Ahn, former KLPGA money list winner Bo-Mee Lee and now former 2-time KLPGA money list winner Ha-Neul Kim. And I’m not even counting Jiyai Shin, who was in the States for many years before going back to Asia to play in Japan full time. Ha-Neul Kim with Jae-Eun Chung and Hee-Kyung Bae8-time KLPGA titleist Ha-Neul Kim claimed her first JLPGA victory at the 2015 Munsingwear Ladies Tokai Classic. The Smile Queen fired a 4-under 68 to finish at 11-under overall, holding off Ayaka Matsumori and the aforementioned Jiyai Shin. Only Kim and Shin shot in the 60s all three rounds. Ha-Neul is a top-tier player, but she hadn’t quite made much of a splash on the JLPGA until she finished 5th at the Konica Minolta Cup, a JLPGA Major, last week. Pairing that result with this win, look for her confidence to soar. She is “only” 25th on the JLPGA money list in 2015, so it’s might be a little late to make a run to the top this year, unless she makes noise at the final two JLPGA Majors. But she is laying the foundation for a great 2016 JLPGA season. 1 HA-NEUL KIM (-12) with Jae-Eun Chung

Sky High! Great job by Ha Neul Kim. In her best KLPGA season, 2011, she won all her events in the last two months of the season. She seems to like playing in the Fall, so maybe that's a good omen for the next few months in Japan. Anyway, I'm glad she finally got that monkey off her back! But one thing I noticed, not having watched too many Japanese tour events before: the crowd was eerily quite whenever Shin or Ha Neul hit a great shot. But they cheered like heck for everything the Japanese players did, and groaned when they missed putts. Is this common? I'm guessing Bo Mee at least gets treated pretty well, but how can anyone not like Ha Neul? Well, whatever, great job by her! Almost makes up for In Gee's belly flop...

Also, this is the first win for Ha Neul anywhere in about two years, since she failed to get a win last year on the KLPGA despite five runner-up finishes.

Hmmmmm....another event with larger JLPGA galleries vs. the KLPGA. Looking at the last hole...one would think they were playing in Hawaii.

This would be a good time for Ha-Neul Kim to get hot...what am I saying, she was born hot...but getting back to golf, as I was saying there are two JLPGA Majors still to play...the Japan Women's Open is in two weeks and the Ricoh Cup closes the season...it would be awesome to see her win either of those. I think they like Bo-Mee Lee. To be fair, Bo-Mee has had consistent success while Ha-Neul hasn't been a factor until last week. I think as Ha Neul starts to factor into more outcomes, they will like her too.
