Team Hanwha is bringing in an army of staffers for this one. First, they've got eight from the KLPGA, although only two of them are top-notch players, Min Young Lee and Chae Young Yoon. Second, a horde of their LPGAers are flying in, including Jenny Shin, Inky, Eun Hee Ji, Ji Young Oh, Haru Nomura, and Sydnee Michaels. One prominent name is missing, Haeji Kang, who is having a poor season. If that's not enough to grab your attention, how about the inclusion of Ha Neul Kim, Jae Eun Chung, Mi Jeong Jeon, Il Hee Lee, Sarah Jane Smith, and Alison Lee?!
The action starts Thursday at Hanwha's Golden Bay Golf & Resort, which is on the west coast about 100 Km SW of Seoul. SBS Golf will have the usual five-hour broadcast of each round at Noon local time.

Ooo....la...la....Alison, Sydnee and Sky....hopefully I can stay up. Last week...all the Hana Bank gals were wearing IQ hats....a newly...2014 launched Canadian Chartered bank that is a subsidiary of Hana/KEB. It really is a shame that I don't speak Korean...otherwise I would have asked The Rocket for her hat after she trunk slammed last Friday....but as a good fanboy....I gave HYP a bag of Lotte Anytime mints as a departing gift....it made her day and must have been a good luck charm this week...too bad...I only had one bag of mints....Ju young could have used them this week after a missed cut. Some Korean golf partners from last year introduced me to these mints. There were Korean fans last week handing the Korean pros cookie and chips as they walked from the greens to the tees. When I play with female Korean golfers...they hand out cookies, candies or fruit to the players in the 4some...a very thoughtful gesture....many have a lunch bag hanging from their pull carts. It's rare to see Koreans riding a cart here...only really old ones. It's often mandatory to use a 4 person cart that's manned by a caddy in S. Korea. In 2012...I was chatting with Yani's agent....I was so tempted to ask her for her hat that was the same as Yani's custom logo'd hat....if I spoke Mandarin...I might have asked her....looks like Yani has a new road agent this year...Yani's main agent is a guy...IMG Kevin Hopkins...but used to be a guy named Huang?

I'm surprised So Yeon Ryu isn't in the field. Ryu won this event in 2012 and famously lost it to Sei Young Kim in 2013 after two holeouts. She is in country, having won last week. And she is a former Hanwha sponsoree.
Oh well, I guess she wants more time to prepare for Evian...
PS - even more surprisingly, it looks like In Gee Chun is not in the field (!). I don't see her name there, anyway. She has stated that her big goal this year is to break Hyo Joo's record for most money earned in a season. This is the biggest money event of the season, with 300 million won going to the winner. A win here would get her well over a billion won for the season. She'll also miss the KLPGA Championship, the year's third Major, the following week to play in France. Without those two events, breaking Hyo Joo's record becomes a lot harder.

Maybe So Yeon and Hanwha parting ways was not a happy one. Either that, or she only played to satisfy her sponsor before. Even without her I am looking forward to watching it. Maybe they will show I K Kim who haven't played that much this year.

So Yeon played the event the year after she had broken ties with Hanwha, so I don't think it's a sponsor thing. Anyway, here is the poster. Confirmed that In Gee is not in the field; there have been several articles about how the #2 - 4 in the league are gunning to win this and overtake her.

However, Evian being a major, she plans to cover/practice her deficiency from Wednesday and fly out on Sunday. Same goes for IG Chun. Unlike British Open, she wants to be fully rested before the Evian.

Unlike British Open, she wants to be fully rested before the Evian. I was sure that was case with both. However, in In Gee's case, it's a bit of a bummer. She is trying to become the second woman to break 1 billion won in a season and perhaps even beat Hyo Joo's all time record. However, the two biggest money events remaining - this one and the KLPGA Champ next week - she will miss. That means she probably has to win twice more this year to even break a billion (she might be able to get by with one win and a lot of great finishes), and might have to win three times to catch Hyo Joo. If she had managed to win here, she would have been at 1.05 billion, less than 200 million beneath Hyo Joo. On the other hand, I love that she learned from her mistake at the British: that was the week after Hite, and she was just not 100% rested when she got there. I think Evian sets up well for her game, and I'd love her to be a factor!

And deservedly so. Could UCLA be a hat sponsor? If indeed Alison is not hat sponsored....her agent must be fired ASAP....Alison should look like a NASCAR driver. I'd like to see Alison go 4-0 at the Solheim. I said to Jason (Alison's loop) that he must be so happy to be on Alison's bag vs. where he just came from (Anna N). Jason replied...."Yup and she's so nice to work with" I just noticed Alison uses an overlap grip. OK no cheating....can others name other LPGA pros who use the overlap....I think it's rare....Lexi maybe???

Is that Jenny Shin in the blue? Jenny is cute but I've yet to watch her.....she might have some drama to her as per a contact from the Lorena event.
Is Sydnee in Korea?

Twitter from Shin Ae Ahn: 웰컴투 코리아 마이 시스 하늘언니❤️ Welcome to Korea my Sis Miss. Sky❤️ mr3putt: Is that a trick question? It seems to me like a lot of them overlap, but I won't try to cheat and look up pictures. Doesn't Lydia overlap? I'm watching the KLPGA replay this AM. The interview girl just did a sit-down with Alison Lee(+2, 74), who is seven shots off the lead. I couldn't say how good Lee's Korean is...she may have been a little nervous and would occasionally switch to English phrases mid-sentence. She said "rough" in English a few times, which probably explains her score. She did this pre-tourney interview at the range in English: www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7-0zNDcM38Regarding her "non-Nascar" look, maybe she's waiting for the best deal possible in the off-season, especially if she saves the USA's butt at the SC. SHARON!!!! Only one shot back at 68, -4. I think I've seen her do the Japanese over-the-knee look just once before. Hye Youn Kim(71, -1))

Yes....more Sharon please.
Correct, Lydia does use an overlap grip. I just thought it would be very uncommon on the LPGA.
Based on a 'fake' major to begin next week....so is Alison getting a small appearance fee or at least her expenses paid as an incentive to play this event or is she being courted by Hanwha for a potential sponsorship?
