So Yun Ryu's interview after the first round. Some excerpts: 1. She feels that her season is going well due to her consistency although haven't won a tournament. 2. After taking pointers from Ian Baker Finch, her putting has improved. She converses with him more than taking direct lesson on technique. 3. The current putter is the one she has used since high school junior. Never asks for advice on line for putting from her caddie. It disrupts her confidence. 4. 3 goals she thought that were important to her this year: win a major, be ranked no. 3 in the world, and win one of the first 10 tournaments. 5. Her ultimate goal is to become the best in the world so the quest of qualifying for the olympics is not a big concern. There were other questions regarding why Korean girls are doing well in LPGA, coping with jet lag, and In Bee's comment on Olympics. Attempted a Google translate but it turned out to be a garbage. Here is the link. sports.news.naver.com/sports/index.nhn?category=golf&ctg=news&mod=read&office_id=447&article_id=0000065236

18majors so how mad are you that your gal, Korda was not selected? Thanks for asking; but no, not at all. Jessica has been in a prolonged slump; I don't know whether it's because her wrist has never healed. She needs to do something, or her career is in real danger; especially with Dumbo and all other uprising young Korean stars. Jess may have been lying...but she told me her wrist is fine.

Tonyj, Cindy and Golfing Grammy didn'T believe me when I told them that IGC's nickname is Dumbo and that she's very receptive if one called her Dumbo. FIGHTING!!! If they question it, tell them to look at her golf bag -- it says 'Dumbo' right on there! Exactly. Have you been able to find a Flying Dumbo fan club site and if they sell hats?

Round 2: Three Tied for Lead; Jang, Ryu Lurking
In the morning, Ha Na Jang shot a 71 to move to 5 under par, which for a while was tied for the lead. Playing in her group, In Gee Chun recovered from her horrible Thursday with a very good round of 68. This was at the time one of the best rounds of the week. But in the afternoon, several players shot great scores. Ka Ram Choi, Seung Hyun Lee and Yeun Jung Seo all shot 65s, and they wound up tied for the lead at 7 under. So Yeon Ryu was almost as good, shooting a 67 to move to 6 under, just one back. Among those who missed the cut were Jin Young Ko, who played with Ryu. Two more days! Scores: 1. Ka Ram Choi 65, Yeun Jung Seo 65, Seung Hyun Lee 65 -7 4. Hee Won Jung 66, So Yeon Ryu 67 -6 Notables: 6. Ha Na Jang 71 -5 7. Char Young Kim 68 -4 12. Min Young Lee 71 -2 13. So Yeon got off to a great start, minus five after seven holes. I was hoping that she would go real low. Not to be, but she is still just fine.
Ha Na really played a solid round of golf. Seventeen pars and one birdie. She had numerous birdie chances, but couldn't make the putts. Kudos to In Gee for her comeback. Great golfers do not let a setback, deter them.
Jin Young Ko struggled her last twenty seven holes. I figure that she will bounce back, next tournament.

Round 3: Ryu, Jang tied for Lead
Two of the day two leaders - Seung Hyun Lee and Ka Ram Choi - faded fast in round 3, while the third - Yeun Jung Seo - stayed near the top of the leaderboard. That allowed So Yeon Ryu and Ha Na Jang to make a move, and both ladies quickly became embroiled in a battle with Seo for the lead. As they came down the stretch, those three fought hard. Jang and Seo were tied at 9 under, Ryu at 8 under. But Seo began to make mistakes: she could not get up and down on 16, and had to make a kneeknocking five foot par save on 17. Meanwhile, Ryu and Jang reached 18. Jang putted from the fringe, leaving her putt four feet short. Then So Yeon drilled a birdie from about 30 feet to move to 9 under. Jang saved par, and they both were tied at the top. Minutes later, Seo left a birdie try short on the 18th, meaning the two LPGA stars were tied for the lead heading into Sunday, with Seo one back. Game on! In Gee Chun had another strong day, shooting her second straight 68 to move to 2 under total. She had five birdies and a bogey. Good, but given how much ground she had to make up, not good enough. Still, she now has moved to a tie for 12th, amazing considering she was barely in the top 100 after round one. Shin Ae Ahn shot one of the low rounds of the day, a 66, to move into solo fifth, four back. One more day! Scores: 1. So Yeon Ryu 69, Ha Na Jang 68 -9 3. Yeun Jung Seo 71 -8 4. Sun Jeong Yoon 69 -7 5. Shin Ae Ahn 66 -5 Notables: 6. Seung Hyun Lee 75 -4 9. Ju Yeon In (R) 70 -3 12. In Gee Chun 68, Ji Hyun Oh 70, Min Young Lee 72 -2 19. Seon Woo Bae 69, Ji Young Park (R) 73, Char Young Kim 76, Ran Hong 72 Even 32. Shi Hyun Ahn 73, Jae Eun Jung 72 +1 35. Yoon Ji Cho 71, Hye Youn Kim 72 +2 61. Too bad Sharon has to compete against two "ringers" who came home this week! On the other hand, maybe that's a lift for her game. She played super in China against Ryu, IBP, and S.S. Feng just before she wrecked her knee. From her Twitter: Wrist band(?) given from a fellow player.Thank you. Will wear this on my ankle today to show my appreciation. Love it! Thanks to my fellow player who gave me this lovely wrist band. It was the lucky charm that gave me 8 birdies today!❤️

Two of my favorite players are tied, at the top. So Yeon could not get anything going until the back nine. I always like it when she finishes strong. Especially when she has a chance to win.
Great to see Shin Ae have a great round. Also In Gee come back after the pedestrian first round.
I also like that the KLPGA set up par fives as par fives. Not long par fours. Make you hit three quality shots, to make birdies. Not just swing away and run the ball, on the green.

Two consecutive 68's to follow an opening 78; way to go In Gee.
She came back from 4 down to win 2015 US Women's Open; but 7 shots is probably a bit too much to overcome.
Would be happy if she shoots another 68 to conclude a nice tournament! Can't win every tournament, as Nicklaus and Woods demonstrated.
