As I mentioned above, they were completely tied after two rounds, number of total strokes and rounds. But in round 3, Haeran shot a 64, which has to have given her the edge (Furue is not playing this week). If she can have a similar result tomorrow she can give herself a nice edge. But the CME will still determine the overall winner.

Jeeno would have played this week if not for the well known flaw in the AON Challenge. I would have liked to see her play and contend for the Vare trophy, but I'm sure her business manager told her she'd be crazy to play and put her lead for the $1,000,000 at risk. Can't blame her. Happens every year.
Even Ciganda, who loves to play every week, took off the last couple events one year to protect her AON lead.

My guess is that since both Haeran and Ayaka had nearly the same average, 70.0 something, that any round below 70 would gain strokes by lowering the average compared to someone who was not playing this week. So Haeran's 64 yesterday would have given her a six stroke lead over Ayaka. She's given back one of those with her plus+1 today through 16. So I'm guessing that Haeran will have around a five stroke lead entering the CME. But we'll find out for sure next week...

Congratulations to Nelly Korda, winner of the 2024 ANNIKA, the 7th win this year by the player of the year. Cue all the little girls: "Daddy, Nelly Korda ALWAYS wins!"

Didn't watch much of this event, figured Nelly would win on the back 9. Also I did not miss Pretzel on commentary, we were spoiled on the Asian swing! Nice result for WeiWei to get inside the top 100 and keep her card.

figured Nelly would win on the back 9. How about those 3 bogies on the front 9; it's tough to be a fan of hers!

My prediction at the start of Saturday was that the Sisters'd get a third and a 7th, so getting a 2nd and an 8th is not too far off. This just hasn't been a good tournament for them through the years. It was a nice try, but Im really needed the win to have any realistic chance of the ROY. I didn't watch, but at least I theoretically might have watched, and that was entirely thanks to the way she played. Nice week for Hyo Joon Jang, too. Haeran was only OK after her great day yesterday, but I think she still has a slim edge over Furue for Vare. I sure hope she can get that at least, rather than the Japanese getting that AND the ROY. Just one bone thrown to the Koreans maybe? Fingers crossed. Hwaiting!

Some good stats news: Ji Won Jeon stays inside CME one hundred at ninety-eight. Hyo Joo Kim missed the cut but stayed inside the top sixty with one drop place to fifty-nine. Yu Jin Sung dropped two places to eighty-one may still get to play the early Asian swing. Mi Hyang Lee moved up three places to fifty-six. So skipping the last Tournament "no harm no foul."
Minor disappointment of the year So Mi Lee who was the best of the three that came over at CME seventy-one. Easly retained her card a plus.
I didn't see the Tournament and the bogey on eighteen that caused Jin Hee Im a solo second. Still a great tournament on her first time playing it.
A shout out to Hyo Joon Jang up seven places from ninety-three to eighty-six.

Yes, as you pointed out yesterday HF, the two of them were exactly tied in rounds played and in strokes after the 2nd round this weekend. Haeran finished 64-70 in rounds 3 and 4, so she essentially picked up six total strokes against their average score of just over 70, 70.04 or something like that. So I think that Haeran will get the Vare as long as she finishes no worse than five strokes behind Furue at the CME. If she ends up exactly six strokes behind, then the two of them will probably differ by ten-thousandths of a stroke in their averages and it might go either way.

Jin Hee earned 80 points this week and is 66 points behind Saigo. I'm guessing she'll need at least a top three next week to have any chance of getting the ROY. Best of luck to her!

MHL fudged her way into the CME finale. 👍
She has an interview after Round Two on the LPGA website. She also did this one in Korean:

I've been away in Costa Rica (it rained alot!) but managed to see the final round on Sky TV back in the UK yesterday. Totally agree with Charley's interview she did regarding slow play. These 5+ hours to complete 18 holes is madness. Nelly is different class when she got her head down on the back nine - I knew she wanted revenge for the Solheim Cup singles match.

Attacking pins on holes where everyone else are fearing the greens makes Nelly a cut above. I caught most of the replay of the final round last night. The edit had taken out her birdie on the par 3 12th, but a highlight reel shown later showed her tee shot landing within a few feet. Amazing!

It's easy to go for the pin when you are hitting a wedge into the green while others are hitting six or seven irons. I fast forwarded through the round to see why Jin Hee Im made bogey on eighteen. She hit a mid-iron that hit the green but because of a lower trajectory unlike a wedge it bounced off the green. Jee Hee Im also had to hit hybrids while she hit mid irons. So when Nellie win on courses where her length doesn't give her an advantage, I will call her amazing. Still uses used her advantage because of her skill to win when other big hitters don't which is really great.
Another thing when Jin Young Ko was winning multiple tournaments and breaking all those records, I never heard her being called amazing. Also winning numerous Tournament on different course where you had to work your way around the course.

There is nothing to keep you from calling Jin Young Ko amazing. Nelly has won 7 times this year in all kinds of conditions.
