Youch, terrible second round by Jin Young Ko; she's down near the bottom of the leaderboard (I only checked the bottom because I'm stupidly waiting for the broadcast in six hours). Looks like she might not be getting a win this year... (although weirdly, she finished second in her previous event, so perhaps it's just a mark of being out of practice?).

Hae Ran Ryu had two bogeys front nine, bounced back with four birdies no bogeys back nine. She made birdie on the last three holes. Really good rounds by Na Rin An and Hye Jin Choi to get near the top.
Jin Hee Im had two over par rounds that not helping her fading ROY Ranking.
A perfect example of why the LPGA setups is all about making putts.
Mao Saigo hit fourteen of eighteen greens round one and fourteen of eighteen round two. Round one she had twenty-two putts minus nine score, round two thirty-two putts plus two score.

Yealimi made 4 in a row but cooled off, her playing partner today EKP made an ace
Nice round for the local gals Ashley Lau is 4 under today and world #8 amateur Mirabel Ting is 6 under, perhaps they will be a sleeper team at the Simone Cup. Natasha Oon remains on a milk carton.

Finally watched the second round! The rookies and Jin Young are stinking it up, but Hae Ran is playing exactly like she has on several occasions this season: miraculous tee to green, then missing putt after putt. Still, a 69 is not that bad after her great day Thursday. It feels like she has the best chance to win among the Sisters, but if Narin or especially Her Jin breakthrough, I'd be quite happy. Choi has put up some good results lately, so I hope she at least contends this weekend. Amy made a few mistakes, but don't count her out yet, either. Hwaiting!

You gotta give kudos to the home country amateur Ting, minus-8 on the day. If she can keep it up on Saturday night (Sunday in Malaysia) then she'll have a nice finish.
Still plenty of opportunities for the Sisters, Haeran still tied for the lead, Narin and Hye-Jin "Her-Jin" and Amy in position for top five or ten.
Go sisters!

Another really good round by Hae Ran Ryu to tie for the lead.
Not sure what's going on with Hye Jin Choi on the weekends. She has gone into the final two rounds a lot this year near the top and posted bad rounds on the weekends. Na Rin An must have fed off her also had a bad third round
Great bounce back by Jin Hee Im after 73,73 rounds she had seven birdies no bogeys third round.

Trying to stay unspoiled, so I looked at the bottom part of the leaderboard. Great day for Jin Hee Im -- a 65 to vault up thirty spots. It might be too little too late, but I love that at least she's hwaiting. Jin Young Ko was three under, then gave it all back in two holes. She moved from 71st to 69th. Woo woo. Can't wait to see how Narin, Hye Jin, Haeran and Amy did. Hwaiting!

They are grouped up together on the final day (w Ruffels) so a W for the locals! Ashley was a standout golfer at U of M idk how that makes you feel as a Spartans fan 😉

Wow, soooo glad I waited to watch that third round. Yeesh. I think I might have seen two Korean birdies the entire broadcast. Every other player was moving up the leaderboard except them. Hae Ran at least played well before the broadcast, but boy was she all over the place on the "easier" back nine. Good putt, terrible putt, awful chip, clutch par save, missing the flag by twenty yards, so on and so on. At least she HAD highlights. Choi was miserable all the way. On 18, she comes within an unlucky bounce of getting on in two, ends up falling backwards into the bunker, then skulls her shot into the stands. Man that was brutal. Well, at least Hae Ran has a shot at this still. Hwaiting!

I just arrived on the West Coast after 12 hours of travel from Michigan. Looks like a three woman race at this point, Ronnie, Jeeno, and of course, GO HAERAN!
At least I won't have to stay up till 2:30 am to see the finish. It will be 11:30 pm local time here in San Diego. But it will feel like 2:30 am to me! GO HAERAN!

Ashley was a standout golfer at U of M idk how that makes you feel as a Spartans fan 😉 Well, I would have cut Ashley some slack on the Wolverine thing, but I'm not feeling particularly charitable in that regard after U-M beat us 21-14 tonight in 'American' football. I should have known that the Spartans would be jinxed after every one of the five sportswriters in the Detroit Free Press picked MSU despite Michigan being 5 point betting favorites. We Spartan fans refer to the two Detroit papers, the 'Freep' and the 'Snooze' (Detroit News) as the 'blue wall' as they are total homers for U-M. When I saw those predictions two days ago, I told my wife, "the blue wall has not just crumbled, it's collapsing!" Wrong!

Now I see Ting on the broadcast on the 18th. She's something!
And she finishes with a birdie on 18, minus-12 for the tournament, will be a top 15.

And don't you want to cry when you see Haeran miss a putt and bogey 17... guess it's Ronnie vs Jeeno...
But Haeran hit a great drive on 18... I can't stop believing... you need an eagle Haeran... you need an eagle... you need an eagle...

Congratulations to Ruoning Yin, winner of the 2024 Maybank Championship, her 2nd win in the last 3 weeks of the Asian swing...
Great rounds by Jeeno and HAERAN also, and although they were not competitive for the win, congrats to Bailey Tardy and Maja Stark for T4, "Her-Jin" and "Marine-er" for T6 with some others.
See you in Japan in a few days (assuming that I recover from this travel) for the only LPGA tournament named for a toilet!

And at least the old guys presenting the championship don't try to smooch the winner as happens at Evian!
