They've been hyping the battle between Hara and Ina as a match of the long bombers. I guess Hara is the longest hitter in Japan? Anyone know: is she really in Yoon's league as a hitter, or is it just that she's the tops in that league but not really comparable?

By the way, Ina has risen to 48th in the world rankings, her first time inside the top 50! So Hyun Bae vaulted into the top 100 at 87th, her career best.

Tell the hypers to do more homework ... Sora Kamiya is #3 on JLPGA at 263.22 ... maybe she was missed because she is behind the other two in the "visuals" department.

Does the JLPGA measure every hole or only certain holes? Ina is hitting a lot of fairway metals off the tee these days, but since they measure every drive, it goes into her total.
More interestingly, there is a stat for most drives over 280 yards, and Ina is tops in that stat (or was when I last checked a few weeks ago).

From the English version of the JLPGA website:
※Distances are measured on 2 holes during every round. The holes chosen are from opposite directions so that the wind does not become a factor. The distance of the tee shot is measured whether or not the ball stays in the fairway. Only the players who have played the required number of rounds are included.
Looks like the LPGA methodology to me.
Kamiya has played 66.5 rounds this year. However, she has only 116 drives counted for her stats, which would imply 58 rounds played. I'm guessing 8.5 rounds were not counted because the equipment or volunteers were unavailable for this task. I don't know if the JLPGA uses a ShotLink equivalent or age 75+ volunteers pacing the hash marks with their clipboards (the LPGA way).

Enjoying the media day although I only understand a little of what they are saying. Interesting that they put Hyun Kyung and Ina next to each other. They haven't killed each other yet at least. And next to Ina on the other side is Hyo Song Lee, who is wearing a Hana Bank hat and WAAC shirt. Didn't take long for her to get sponsors.

I like the Hanwha hats better on KLPGA vs the Q CELLS for the LPGA players.
Hyo Song looks like she got a nice makeover since turning pro and athletic glasses are a better choice vs the Harry Potter frames.
