What is going on with all these Getty close-ups of women's sneakers? I can only assume one of the following: 1. A shoe sponsor made a special photo request to Getty so they have confirmation that their player/staffer is wearing their brand during competition. 2. The photog used the sneaker shot to set the focus of his camera lenses. 3. The photographer has a creepy sneaker fetish. Considering Getty previously took close-ups of the EMP's geriatric slip-on Velcro sneakers, I'd say it's probably not #3. Quentin Tarantino working for Getty now?

Who plugged in Jen Kupcho?!?!? Five birdies on the front nine this morning...
EDIT: Sorry, Jen... I jinxed you, one of my favorites... back nine began with two bogeys and the lead is gone

Six is fighting hard today. -1 today, but still at 4 over. I'm guessing the cut will be +2 or +3, so she can make it. Go Six!

It looks like Gina will have to scurry up some magic in Portland again like last year to save her card or else it's back to Q school
Matilda Castren is looking like a one hit wonder. She is having a worse season than AP this year despite many more starts.
Speaking of AP, she made an eagle on 14! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

On the average, a good day for Haeran to get within one stroke of the lead... especially good considering that she had four bogeys!
Abbott, after Haeran nearly whiffed a chip on 18, "We've seen greatness and some strange shots from Haeran the last couple of weeks..."
The gallery at the tee on 17 tried to cheer up Brooke after bogeys on 15 and 16, by singing one of the most off-key (probably alcohol-assisted?) renditions of the national anthem O Canada that I have ever heard. (We Michiganders hear it quite often.) It did not help as she bogeyed 17 and 18 as well to end with four consecutive bogeys.
Nice rounds by Moriya, Ryann O'Toole and Ally Ewing... and also Yu Jin!
Go Sisters!

Lily shot a 71 to sneak inside the cut line. She'll have to get updates from the gallery this weekend on how her bf Alex Albon does at the Belgian GP.
I'm declaring LC the best golfer yet to win on the lpga, sorry Janet, Alison, and Yealimi! I hope AP can find a similar groove in her 30s.

Hye Jin is totally the best golfer to not yet win on the LPGA. Hopefully that will change this week! (yeah, I sometimes can't believe it myself that she hasn't won yet). Anyways, a solid day for her today, just four back and in the top ten. Hae Ran was sensational today. One of her four bogies was a 360 degree lipout from about four feet. But she also had a chip-in on 17 in front of the drunk fans, one of the few birdies there all day, and seven total birdies. Just one back with lots of time to make her presence felt. Four Sisters tied for 16th at even, still very much in this, including Jin Hee Im and Yu Jin Sung. Yu Jin shot a fabulous 69. Su Bin Joo is at 1 under, but how long will she stay there? Sei Young shot an even par round, but Six made a late bogey and missed the cut. Hyo Joon Jang also collapsed and missed the cut. Inky had a long, long birdie on 17 and made the cut on the number! Hwaiting!

Some really good movements up the Leaderboard, Yu Jin Sung 87 to 16, Jin Hee Im 39 to 16, Sei Young Kim 62 to 36.
It's hard to win when you have a good first round tie and score just even par the last three rounds. Unless you are lucky like a couple of golfers did this year.

Hye Jin is definitely the best sister without a win - LC has been a new breed since the Asian swing last year and contended in 2 majors in 2024 whilst having a better season. 30 is the new 20?
Re the sisters landscape (on the lpga) Hae Ran appears to be head and shoulders above everyone else on a consistent basis. Sei Young looked poised to break her slump earlier in the season but has fallen off of late.

I had Earl Grey with my breakfast this morning.
Tough course. The wind and the rough brought the cut to +4. Looking for Haeran to conquer.
