Two unknowns are leading the Monday qualifier at -4 ... but, a late round foul-up by either will probably cause a playoff, as Christina Kim and Soo Bin Joo finished at -3.
If Voodoo's back give out, the first alternate is Gigi Stoll and the second is Annie Park.

Brooke Henderson featured in this 90 second segment that appeared on Grand Rapids television on June 3. Brooke has won the Meijer twice in its ten-year history and is possibly the most popular LPGA golfer in this area. Yes, even more so than Lexi! "Strange as it seems to us Michiganders, in most parts of the US people treat Canada as if it was a foreign country or something..."

Yes, someone must have fouled up as Christina and who? Keera Foocharoen? But as I always say, "Don't ever count out the Thais!" Seriously though, can anyone think of a time when an unknown Thai golfer made the field on Monday and won the tournament? Thought so...

Keera is the Thai version of Alexa Melton. Would be her first LPGA start (I believe). Made it to Q school stage 3 + played college golf at Va Tech. Finished T8 on Epson last week.

The real question is whether Keera is the 2024 version of Chanettee Wannasaen? Doubtful- CW is younger, skipped school entirely and had professional wins on her resume already. But as you say, never count out that Thais, so it's a greater than 0 pct chance.

My field rating for this event is a mediocre 54%, down from 56.5 last year. My breakdown is 60% from the LPGA Priority List and 48% from the Rolex Rankings. Four of the top ten players in the Rolex World Rankings will be teeing it up this week: Nelly Korda (1) Lilia Vu (2) Celine Boutier (3) Minjee Lee (10) Top ten players skipping the event this week: Ruoning Yin (4) Hannah Green (5) Jin Young Ko (6) Rose Zhang (7) Yuka Saso (8) Charley Hull (9) The Monday Local qualifiers are: Keera Foocharoen and Christina Kim. Other Stuff: Linnea Strom's victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic was the first for a player from Sweden this year. Linnea joined Baily Tardy as the only first time winners on tour this year. Ayaka Furue recorded her 7th top ten finish of the year tying Nelly Korda for the LPGA lead. Furue has done it in 13 starts (53.8%), Nelly in just 9 starts (77.7%). Of the three big season ending awards, only the Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year award is competitive. Gabrielle Ruffles remains on top with 361 points, followed by Jin Hee Im with 351. Mao Saigo (231), Austin Kim (163), and Mone Inami (149) round out the top five. Nelly Korda is so far ahead in the Player of the Year and Vare Trophy races (both carrying a Hall of Fame point), that the numbers aren't worth posting.
There wasn't much movement in the Rolex Rankings by the top LPGA players this week. Ayaka Furue jumps up from 22 to 19. Linn Grant (who won on the Ladies European Tour this past weekend) climbs from 32 to 27. Linnea Strom made the biggest move skyrocketing from 165 to 93. We had some pretty big moves outside the top 100: Marina Alex rises from 112 to 102. Nicole Broch Estrup vaults from 131 to 115. Morgan Metraux leaps up from 143 to 127.
On another note, with time running out to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games (just two more tournaments), there are some interesting situations worth reporting. As most of you know, each country can send their top two players to the games, but you can have up to four players if they are ranked in the top 15. It has not been all that unusual for the USA or South Korea to send four players to past Olympic Games. As of today the USA has three players that have wrapped up spots: Nelly Korda (ranked No. 1) Lilia Vu (2) Rose Zhang (7) Other USA players who are in the top 25 and need to move up in the next two weeks to qualify are: Megan Khang (16) Alison Lee (18) Ally Ewing (24) Allisen Corpuz (25) As of today, South Korea has one player in for sure (Jin Young Ko ranked 6th), one other player currently in but must hold on to her top 15 spot (Hyo-Joo Kim currently 12th). Two other players Jiyai Shin (22) and Amy Yang (23) must do something pretty spectacular in the next two weeks to get in.

Caddie list is out ... MHL has The Invisible Man (blank space) ... she had Charles/Charlie Ryan at Lancaster, her third loop in three events following her split with Sir Nick. Ryan worked for Big Ryu at the 2023 USWO, as well as B. Altomare in 2020. It appears that Mickey Mouse dumped her longtime loop Casey Johnson following Mizuho ... had Jeremy Young last week and will work him again here (his past bags include Minjee, Heather Bowie, Stanford and Mickey Mouse). Johnson landed on his feet by getting Mo Jutanugarn this week.

Even though AP is reserve #2 last i checked, she is entered in Epson Land playing nearby Indiana. The SHI company jet will be on standby just in case.

We'll see a lot of Henderson, Korda, and Maguire on Thursday... unless weather disrupts the sequence of play. Small chance of scattered t-storms.

I thought that if you had one player in the top ten in the rankings you were guaranteed to get at least one more player to qualify for the Olympics; like, if Hyo Joo were to drop out of the top 15, she would still go as long as Jin Young stays in the top ten?
Looked it up:
So I wasn't exactly right, it sounds like it's purely by ranking, but I can't imagine that the Koreans won't have at least two players.

Today's 41 seconds of local tv coverage in Grand Rapids, "Katie Lu practices with Lexi Thompson" The Grand Rapids tv market must be the only place in the world where Katie Lu gets more coverage than Rose Zhang. Are you seeing her in NJ, Phil?

Are you seeing her in NJ, Phil? I've seen Katie Lu only once ... from my 2023 Cognizant report: Katie Lu(a) in Michigan St. duds hits the ball too low or not spinny enough ... three straight approaches rolled off the back. However, she is getting better fast ... her seasonal scoring averages at the MSU Spartans website: 2021-22 77.25 2022-23 74.12 2023-24 71.54 Will the school record fall next season? It's held by Sarah Burnham (2017-18, 70.68) who had a cup of coffee on the LPGA ... I might have seen her in a pro-am. Until she resigned in the spring, she was the head coach of the Oakland U. Golden Grizzlies ... who dat?!!!
I assume she'll try to qualify for the USWA ... one way to do that is to win the NJ Women's Amateur in late June at Watchung Valley GC ... hmm, not that far away, maybe I'll go.

I should have worded that better. Even if Hyo-Joo falls out of the top 15 she will still be going unless she is passed by Jiyai or Amy.
