On the downside, Hyo Joo is stinking it up, Lee6 is not doing well, In Gee has dropped out, none of the rookies have made a move. Man, I usually don't get this discouraged until Saturday!

Yay! Inky is on the leaderboard! Nice 4 under par round today. Hwaiting!
Yep, the poverty cases are out in force (she probably sleeps in her car during off-weeks) ... throw in Moresco, Darquea, The EMP and Jing Yan ... I'm even more depressed now.
This dull broadcast is focused on Korda Two stumbling along ... playing with Leona and The ECP. I just switched over to the USO.

Classic Gina, starts +2, reels off 4 birdies, and doubles her last hole.
No surprise Alena Sharp up the leaderboard, she's playing with Yealimi after all.

Yay! Inky is on the leaderboard! Nice 4 under par round today. Hwaiting! And Inky's playing partner, the EMP, also shot a -4, and almost hit for the cycle: an eagle, six birdies, eight pars, two bogeys and a double. What, no hole in one?? Will she make her first cut this year? That doesn't look like her husband on the bag, unless some sort of trauma caused his beard to go grey overnight. Trouble in paradise?

Now we've spent the last 5 minutes watching Leona try to figure out how to move a tree branch... This group of past Meijer champions is not playing up to form so far. Leona'd better be careful not to end up DQd like Nasa last week. I can't believe the group hasn't been given a pace of play warning...
EDIT: Brooke played up to form quite well, minus-5 with two eagles. Leona treaded water and Nelly ended up at the bottom of the board. Nelly may catch MSU amateur Katie Lu if Katie stumbles on her last two holes...

Caddie list is out ... MHL has The Invisible Man (blank space) ... she had Charles/Charlie Ryan at Lancaster, her third loop in three events following her split with Sir Nick. Ryan worked for Big Ryu at the 2023 USWO, as well as B. Altomare in 2020. It appears that Mickey Mouse dumped her longtime loop Casey Johnson following Mizuho ... had Jeremy Young last week and will work him again here (his past bags include Minjee, Heather Bowie, Stanford and Mickey Mouse). Johnson landed on his feet by getting Mo Jutanugarn this week.
We'll see a lot of Henderson, Korda, and Maguire on Thursday... unless weather disrupts the sequence of play. Small chance of scattered t-storms.
Dude, you need to be at these Michigan events or Dana in person ... I find planning the road trips almost as fun as finally getting there.
Among the TV threesome you mentioned, I'm a fanboy of Leona ... the other two, not so much ... although I must admit that The ECP was quite awesome hitting the par-5 14th in two with driver off the deck.

Today's broadcast had a brief clip of Jiwon Jeon ... pronounced "Jiwon John" by Grant Boone ... nitpicking perhaps, but he's been around the LPGA too long to sound like a Grand Rapids sportscaster. The PM wave is still out there and MHL has just fallen two shots off the cut line ... but she keeps making do this year - no trunk slams. Another good first round by Na Rin An at minus five.
Jeong Eun Lee6 turned her round around after three bogeys front nine, three birdies back nine. Now when she has a good front nine and a really good back nine, she is back.

Besides Inky's 68, there were a few other positives. Six managed to make a nice comeback after her crappy start. Hye Jin shot a round in the 60s and is four back. If she can manage another round like that tomorrow, I might start to get interested. Verrrry interesting that Korda struggled so much.
Question: I didn't watch the coverage. Did any of the Sisters get any air time?

Thanks for posting that video ... you can see her daddy in the orange jacket at 4:27 and she still has Charles Ryan looping for her ... I should look at this YT site a lot more ... they have MHL's 3rd round at Cognizant last month and I'm in it. They also have Peanut winning the 1999 State Farm Rail Classic ... if that was Larry the Looper on her bag, I think she canned him soon afterward.

Five and Jiwon "John" (both minus-3) got shown once or twice but they didn't follow them hole to hole the way they did with Nelly (plus+4) and her group. I think that they showed Hyo Joo once.

I'm pretty neutral on Leona... actually I like Brooke because she's a 'local.' Sometimes I think Michigan should secede and join Canada... but let's not talk politics here, this is a golf forum where we all support the sisters... Nelly does almost nothing for me, oh, I appreciate how she promotes the game, she high fives and signs autographs for every girl across the ropes... but I'm from Chicago, a lifelong Cubs fan following in the steps of my late father, Nelly is the NY Yankees of women's golf... the only difference being that Nelly's much more successful than the Yankees recently...
I think tonight's Grand Rapids sports news covered Nelly, Leona, Brooke, and Alison. Wish Ayaka had chopped off a few more strokes to be near the top of the leaderboard, just to see whether they could pronounce her name better than last year!
