As a sign of recent prosperity ... MHL dropped out. 😭
*********
Hmm ... who do I follow on Friday, June 7 ... some of them should be wearing name tags. Even more important ... where do I play golf the day before down there?
*********
Three quality ams will be there: Maisie Filler, Gianna Clemente and Rachel Kuehn. Of course, they reserved an open spot for this week's USWO winner ... I don't think they'll be using it. Speaking of the USWO, that field has eight players who are on the Shoprite/Acer reserve list.
********
The Monday qualifier field has 33 out of 48 spots filled, so far ... includes Ashlan Ramsey ... where was she dug up from? They usually have a Sunday qualifier for amateurs only where the winner gets into the Monday qualifier ... don't know if they're still doing that.
********
Karrie is gonna tee it up ... she'll probably be on TV Wowow, they love her in Japan. Annie Park made it at the 141st position ... I think I recall what she looks like.

There's too many top players here now, go away! I want to see AP grouped with Francella and Gulbis.

The Monday qualifier field is closed with 40 or 41 players. One of them is super junior Mia Hammond, who had a T-26 at the 2023 Dana Open. She signed a NIL deal with an agent in January (during her sophomore year in high school). Two more qualifiers are Sydnee Michaels and Alana Uriell ... they can join TonyJ coming to NJ over the Commodore Barry Bridge.

The cream is rising to the top ... Annie Park is now #137 on the field list. Decisions, decisions, who do I follow Friday? How about Jin Hee Im? She can win here ... why not? Yes, win and stick it to Grant Boone and Tom Abbott. Seon Hwa Lee won here as a rookie in 2006, but her Future Tour accomplishment pale in comparison to Im's KLPGA wins.
********
The Monday qualifier field is down to 38 names. One of them is Kaila Elsayegh(a) who tried to Monday qualify at Wilshire this year ... and will join The Tree in 2025. Her IG:
*********
First three alternates:
Min Lee Yani Toast Christina Kim
I doubt Yani is down there. The other two are in the Monday qualifier field. I don't think I recall Christina ever passing a Monday qualifier, which would be too bad for Shoprite as she is a loyal customer at its Galloway store.

Before the USWO ended yesterday, someone dropped out, so Annie Park moved up to #136, allowing Min Lee into the field. That leaves 37 players ready to play the qualifier at 1 PM. But, considering the massive checks issued yesterday to "struggling" players like Shibuno Fever, Yubol, and Meechai, would it be viewed as unprofessional or unsporting to drop out at such a late hour?

Gabby Then in as qualifier 👍. Put her in APs group and I promise they will play better together than at Simone Cup. The stars and planets are aligning
Gina Kim needs some points. She has the fewest amongst everyone that is not 0.
2 MC in a row for Yealimi, time to get back on track!
Jen Chang in the field on reshuffle, I think she will do well again - motivated not to stay in Epson Land.

I have been following her ever since her surprise qualification for the Dana last year, where she eventually made the cut and finished ahead of dozens of pros as I recall. Later in the summer she got an invite to the Kroger but missed the cut there.
Phil, I think that you had pointed out Katie Lu to me last year as a golfer from your area (?) who was at Michigan State. I believe that she has gotten an invite to the Meijer in a week and a half. The local Grand Rapids Sunday night sports show had a nice segment where she was interviewed last night. I'll try to find the video and post it on the Meijer page.

From the Monday qualifier -
Pos Player Name Nat. Par Score T-7 Christina Kim USA Par 71 #
T-9 Alana Uriell USA +1 72 *
# - Yikes, there is a big "40" inside her LPGA profile on the website ... if she can't make it here, how about the team event?
* - At the USWO on Sunday, she made almost $24K while paired with The New Ko, but at Shoprite/Acer she can't get a job parking cars all she can do is work the pro-ams on Wednesday and Thursday.

Let hope the ShopRite is to AP as the US Open is to Yuka. It's been the year of repeat winners, either for the same season or same event so why buck from the trend?
Also I noticed Jung Min Hong is not in the field, did she throw the towel in on her LPGA prospects this year already? A top 30 finish here would boost her status quite a bit.

I absolutely do not expect a Korean win, but I will say this. Jin Young Ko played really well in the final round of the US Women's Open. If she could have gotten a little closer to the pin a few more times she might have shot better than Ewing did that day. She was especially great off the tee.
And she has come really close to winning this event in the past; didn't she have a putt to force a playoff one year and miss it? I recall Inbee also missing a similar putt that same year, an almost ridiculous incident for those two great players to both not close the deal. That might have been another event, but I think it was ShopRite?
Anyways, with Thitikul, who always manages to make life hard for the Sisters, in the field, I'm sure Ko could shoot 59 and still somehow not win.

I was sitting in back of the green. Inbee, JYK and Fassi all had putts on 18 to get into a playoff....they all missed. Fassi's was for eagle and was a long one. The other two were very makeable birdie putts.

My field rating for this event is a very poor 39.5%, although it is up from 31% last year. My breakdown is 48% from the LPGA Priority List and 31% from the Rolex Rankings. Only three of the top ten players from the Rolex Rankings will be in attendance: Hannah Green #5 Yuka Saso #6 Jin Young Ko #7 The following top ten players will not be teeing it up this week: Nelly Korda #1 Lilia Vu #2 Celine Boutier #3 Ruoning Yin #4 Rose Zhang #8 Charley Hull #9 Minjee Lee #10
The Monday local qualifiers are: Brianna Do (-6) and Gabriella Then (-5)
Other stuff: Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson both had their cut streaks stopped at 17 straight at the U.S. Women's Open. Yuka Saso's win was the first for a player from Japan this year. They join the USA (8 wins), Australia (2), and New Zealand and Thailand (1 each). Ayaka Furue registered her 6th top ten of the year. She has played 12 events. Only Nelly Korda with seven top tens in just nine starts has more. The Louise Suggs Rookie of the Year race has tightened up once again. Gabriela Ruffles still leads with 361 points, but Jin Hee Im is closing in with 346. Mao Saigo (202), Mone Inami (149), and Austin Kim (140) round out the top five.
As is usually the case after a major championship, there were some big moves in the Rolex Rankings by LPGA players this week: Yuka Saso Explodes into the top ten this week, skyrocketing from No. 30 to No. 6. Hyo Joo Kim falls out of the top ten. Ally Ewing springs up from 36 to 24. Andrea Lee vaults up from 49 to 33. Hinako Shibuno catapults up from 192 to 61. Perrine Delacour rises from 90 to 76. Arpichaya Yubol hurdles over 150 players 245 to 95. Outside the top 100, Wichanee Meechai powers her way up from 158 to 101.

I went to sleep on Annie Park I didn't see her decline until it happened. Same with Alison Lee one day I looked up and she was fighting for her Card. However, Alison is in a good place now hopefully it will happen to Annie. They were two of my favorite PAC12 golfers, Alison from UCLA didn't matter to me.
