If Ji Yai can make birdie on the last two holes she may have a chance for the win. The way the top two players are making bogeys, there is a tie at the top with Miyuu just made bogey.
Yui Kawamoto has made her third bogey to drop to a tenth place tie.
Hyo Song Lee (A) and Seon Woo Bae are just two out of the lead. Both Amateurs are doing great on their respected Tours. Min Sol Kim solo second and Hyo Song fourth place tie.

Maybe Min Sol Kim didn't get the upper hand on Hyo Song Lee. She made birdie, eagle on the last two holes to tie for the lead.
Yewon Lee made birdie on fifteen to tie for the lead.
Miyuu Yamashita made bogey on fifteen to drop back to tie for third place. I was going to call it a night, but this last round is hilarious..
Before the ink dried Yewon made a bogey on sixteen to drop back in a tie for second. To be continued!!!!

Yewon Lee just made another bogey on seventeen needs an Eagle on eighteen to tie the lead. She is not as long off the tee as Hyo Song so she would have to chip it in. Miyuu Yamashita will also need to make Eagle on eighteen to tie Hyo Song as well.
Not a good day for Yui Kawamoto plus four for minus one for the Tournament. The good news she had another top ten and which is sweet because it's a Major.
Su Ji Kim plus six and Kotone Hori plus five also had bad days.
Kudos to Ji Yai Shin for a solo fifth which will get her closer to qualifying for the Olympics.

Of course I'm bias to Yewon, but if Yewon can't win it an amateur from Korea is hilarious and great.

I don't think Shuri Sakuma will be too unhappy about not winning. Her minus one today got her solo first place money. Golf is so unpredictable

When is Lee Hyo Song's birthday? Is she 15 American age?
I found it. 2008.11.11

I just finished watching this on the saved YouTube streams. Weird way to watch golf... Wow, what an amazing final result! Hyo Song Lee barely got any coverage most of the day, which is INSANE considering she is a fifteen year old amateur in contention for a win at a Major!!! Anyways, she made them pay attention, didn't she? On the par 5 18th, I kept doing the math in my head... Could she reach the par 5 in two? She DID IT! Ten foot for eagle, drilled that, and wow, in the clubhouse at 8 under. 67 in these brutal conditions. Game on! I still felt like she would probably come up just short like Min Sol did in Korea. But boy did Yewon have a rough day. If it weren't for her ridiculously great putting she would have shot an 80. She had one bogey save that was like thirty feet. Her struggles were the only reason the Japanese star was even in this. But I think they both saw Lee at the top of the leaderboard on 17 and it broke them. Up til then they probably thought the title was between the two of them. Both screwed up on 17 and had to make eagle on 18 to tie; Yamashita goofed up for a bogey and Yewon a par. Can I say it? ANWA IS A JOKE! Neither of these women, Hyo Song or Min Sol, were in the field. How can you call that the greatest amateur tournament in the world? If it weren't for Ji Young Park having an out-of-body experience in Korea, we could have had both of these amateur stars collecting wins on pro tours this weekend. OK, so NOW who is the best Korean amateur? Min Sol is still the highest ranked, Hyo Song has the biggest win, and Soomin Oh came darn close in Singapore and beat Hyo Song just a couple of weeks ago in an amateur tilt. What will they do next? HWAITING! 1 @hyosong Lee -8 -5 75 69 69 67 280 3 Ye Won Lee -6 +4 69 70 67 76 282 4T Jiyai Shin -5 -3 71 70 73 69 283 6 Seonwoo Bae -4 +1 72 67 72 73 284 29T Su Ji Kim +5 +6 72 74 69 78 293

ANWA IS A JOKE!
I definitely understand your perspective, but I want to frame this in a different way.
ANWA doesn't need Koreans and Koreans don't need ANWA.
Let's look at this from America's perspective.
I imagine the USGA and LPGA begging Augusta National for help. The US has like 10, maybe 11, players on the Rolex Rankings right now. It's absolutely dismal. The commissioner of the USGA is frantic trying to rebuild the woman's amateur ranks. The US college system is atrocious.
Koreans know what they are doing.
I saw some Japanese comments on X this afternoon how there were three Koreans in the top 5 this afternoon. They feel a divide.
So I think ANWA is a spectacle designed to encourage little American girls to take up golf. They push this angle over and over during their broadcasts. Golfers signing autographs for little girls.
ANWA is the highest rated strength of field amateur event there is even without the Koreans participation.
I can like ANWA for what it is and accept the fact the Koreans don't need it and don't need to care about it.

Hyosong Lee(a) is NOT Baby Shinster ... she is Baby Ronni ... just pulverized the 18th hole (520 yards) ... had 235 remaining and smoked a 3W to 3 meters.
Some trivia from an article:
She is the eighth amateur to win on the Japan Tour, following Ayaka Furue who won the Fujitsu Ladies in 2019. Her win at the age of 15 years and 176 days also made her the youngest person to win, surpassing Minami Katsu's 15 years and 293 days. She made a comeback on the final day, and her 7 strokes was her highest record in an official match. She also broke the record for the youngest winner of the tournament, which was set by Hinako Shibuno in 2019 at the same East Course, at 20 years and 178 days old.
There's probably a list somewhere of all the amateur JLPGA winners ... HoJo and Gillman come to mind ... just confirmed that Ai did it, too.

I get it now ... "I'm 15" ... currently #23 on WAGR ... how high will she go on the next ranking?
Shuri Sakuma missed a playoff by that much.
Erika Hara
Yui
Yumeka Kobayashi
Sharon made a few bucks for being T-DFL

Bummed to see Yewon threw it away .. but congrats to the KID! I enjoyed watching her play at Simone Cup + Asian Pacific am.
The WAGR is a joke anyhow, just catered to favor the college players - the rankings are not a projection of success at pro level, otherwise Minsol, Hyosong, and Galitsky would be 1-2-3. The best Americans would be Koo, Clemente and Talley.
Yeah I Won and Me & You will have plenty of battles on the future.

Ga Eun Song flew over from ROK, had her first trunk slam in Japan (after three top-25s there) and is returning to the next KLPGA event ... she is crazy.

What's wild is that Hyo Song was 2 under on her round for almost the entire day, then, just like A Lim at the US Women's Open, gained three strokes late and next thing you know, she's in the lead. She had no time to sit on the lead. But her opponents get to suddenly see that 8 under is in the clubhouse, and I think they didn't handle it well.
Congrats again to the Kid on an incredible week!

I also hope that Yewon isn't too badly shaken. I recall a few years ago when Six had the Japan Women's Open all but locked up and folded in the final few holes. She really didn't take it well, posting sad all-text Instagram entries bemoaning her sadness.
Yewon should feel proud that she hung on so long Sunday despite playing her worst golf of the week by far. She should learn from it and prepare for world domination to come.
