Bump to ensure another thread isn't begun by mistake.
Previous years, the KLPGA began the week after ANWA and during the Masters. SBS Golf would promote KLPGA during the day and Masters at night.
It's not warm in Korea until May. It's going to be chilly 🥶 on Jeju Island next week.

One thing they are doing this year: We've is printing up a limited edition "autograph" book containing photos and bios of the players in the field. Presumably their sponsored athletes get the most focus, but it looks like all the players in the field get a shout out. The article suggests that this might be a regular feature of tournaments going forward.

WTF? Ina Yoon is returning next week and teaming with her old caddie? Isn't this the same guy who threatened to rat her out and basically forced her to go public with her illegal act? Don't understand that at all. Ina to play with former caddie

This is very odd especially if the caddie and Yoon Ina had a really bad relationship.
On the other hand, if they got along really well and the whole breakup was solely OVER the incident, then with the incident over they can make up.

Perhaps the weirdest aspect of the Ina Yoon story is how invisible she is. In all this time since her suspension, the KLPGA has yet to mention her or show a photo of her on their website or Instagram. None of the big sports sites have shown any current pix of her either or done a new interview. She will be teeing it up in two days, and I've seen just one officially released photo of her since her punishment was reduced, and it was for a small tournament she played a few weeks ago.
You'd think given the amount of stories and how popular they are, there'd be something by now actually featuring Ina herself. I've never seen anything like this before in all the years I've been following the KLPGA. I have to wonder what will happen when she plays, how she will be received.
And of course, no players posting on her Instagram, or posting on their own Instagram welcoming her back.
She's a bizarre mix of huge story and poison. I hope she doesn't get too badly treated when she shows up for work!

One thing Ina won't have to worry about: a good tee time. According to the news this morning, she will be matched with Shin Sil Bang and Youmin Hwang for the first two rounds. Give the fans what they want! The three longest hitters in the league matched up.
One other interesting tidbit: this is Yewon Lee's first career title defense. She is extremely motivated to repeat as champion. Can she make it two wins in a row after having won in Thailand two weeks ago?

Kim Min Byeol, Hwang, and Bang Shinsil have been nearly best friends forever. They cheer and struggle together. It would be unnatural if they didn't push each other to improve. Maybe their friendly banter increases stress sometimes.
Yoona is back. I'm glad she is back. I'm glad she was suspended. I didn't think 3 years was appropriate.
The long hitters get a lot of the attention, but I appreciated an article months back that detailed how long hitters aren't winning LPGA tour events as much as one might expect. One particular example I remember is Maria Fasci who hasn't won on tour, YET, much less dominated.
A recent article detailed the best sponsors on the KLPGA tour by looking at their KLPGA Power rankings. Now that Bang has overtakem Park Min Ji, KB* might not be the best, but KB currently hold down the top two spots.
Bang Shinsil with her wins last year and early performance has the best chance at making a statement this year. She has to get that loose driver under control on the weekends.
The media doesn't ask players about rivals. Players don't openly talk about how far they are behind another player. The closest I saw was Min Byeol fans hoping she is another second year Yewon. That is looking less and less likely. MinByeol needs to relax and take Yewon's advice. Confidence!
It just seems to be the case everyone is wanting to catch lightning in a bottle.
How can they catch Yewon?
The media articles I've seen expect Yewon to do well this year, like there doesn't seem to be anyone in a position to really compete at her level. Let's see what Bang can do.
One article this morning or yesterday tried to say Yewon vs Jaehee because they won the first events. Jaehee might not win again this year.

Let's face it the average golf fan like to watch long drives, like baseball fans like home runs. I am not a fan of big hitters; I prefer watching great ball striking. However, it is really nice to see them go head-to-head in driving against each other. Long hitters' bad accuracy maybe because it's hard for them to rescue a swing due to their swing speed.
