Hee Jeong Lim couldn't make the mid-range putts but hit it stiff on eighteen to make birdie. Still plus one may not make the cut, but I think plus two has no chance. So she should feel a little better for giving herself an outside chance. They kept showing Ji Yai Shin but showed Yewon Lee maybe once or twice. So I thought she must have been playing bad, but she was playing ok at minus two for the day. Oh well I guess that she just isn't popular enough.

Youmin Hwang was really strong in the morning, ending up shooting an identical round to her first day to take the lead. Jeongmin Moon had five birdies in a row at one point to catch Youmin but wound up one back.
Ina struggled a lot more on day two, hitting some really wild drives. She had two double bogies on her front nine (she played the back first), but recovered to end up with an even par round for the day, making the cut and finishing t-30th. Yewon and Min Byeol are still looking for their form, although both are still close enough to possibly make a run.
Amateur Min Sol Kim was so-so today but is still only five back, not out of it yet.
Hwaiting!

Oh well, can't win 'em all. But winning once in a while would be nice. Min Byeol Kim was going along smoothly if unspectacularly at 5 under and lost four strokes in the final three holes. She ended up with one of the worst rounds in the entire field thanks to that. Ina had a third OK but nothing special round. For her, though, anything is fine as she tries to come back. Still, I'll admit I was hoping for a slightly better week after her good opener. At least round 3 was better than round 2. Not sure why Yewon, who was so strong three weeks ago, is doing so poorly, but it might be the Jeju factor affecting her. Jiyai and Min Sol are stuck in neutral after decent starts. On the other hand, rookie Hyun Jo Yoo is starting her career well like many expected. Second year player Jeongmin Moon is still in the running for her first win. And Youmin Hwang has been incredible; she has yet to make a bogey in three rounds. It would really surprise me if she doesn't easily take this trophy. In general, I'm finding it hard to stay excited. Hwang is obviously dominating and seems like she will easily win. The rest of the top players on the leaderboard are not super interesting other than maybe Moon. Cutieful is playing solid but unspectacular golf. Here's hoping the event ends with a few surprises to make it more fun. Hwaiting!

Jiyai and Ina posed for a pic after round 2. Jiyai has been like a mentor for Ina this year. They have trained together in Australia, and Shin has advised Ina on how to handle her comeback. At least there's one player who is on Ina's side. Ina and Jiyai after round 2

At the end of the third round, there was some sort of rules controversy. Reading about it, it sounds like the caddie dropped the range finder near the ball and possibly moved the ball in the process. They spent a long time trying to figure out if they needed to penalize Hwang before deciding there was no penalty. Here is a video:

Round 4
Congratulations to Youmin Hwang, who unofficially has achieved two straight wins if you include her team win last week. She was clearly the class of the field even though her bogey-free streak came to an end on Sunday (she had two today).
Ina wound up with a t-34th finish, not bad for her first outing. Welcome back! She was even par her final three rounds, which was a progressively stronger score as the conditions got tougher through the week. Min Byeol Kim also finished t-34th, meaning she is still looking for her form this year. Shin Sil got a top 20, and Min Sol Kim a top ten, showing she is a cut above her fellow rookies toiling at ANWA, where she was supposed to play until (I'm guessing) her sponsor suggested an alternate plan this week.
Rookie Hyun Jo Yoo was in line for a first career top ten as a player when she collapsed to a 77 on Sunday. She'll learn how to avoid that in the future.

Ina doesn't seem to have the old swagger and easy smile in her recent pics. More introspective. Of course, going through hell and back can do that to a person. Best of luck to her.

You're spot on about the story of the binoculars falling on the ball. Except one point. The caddie never touched it. Hwang dropped it herself.

She has definitely been through a lot, and this week is one of those necessary steps to getting back. I hope the confidence will return as she acclimates.

Wow, Sun -ju Ahn has certainly lost a lot of weight, i wonder if she got the magic jab that's doing the rounds. It also seems that she has given up on the JLPGA, she had 28 wins prior to her pregnancy and looks like she wont be going over any time soon. I guess having twins and traveling in Japan is just to hard, I get it and good luck to her on the KLPGA.

Never say never, if she's still capable in a few years she might go back, but she's doing well enough on the KLPGA that it's easier to stay there. She has definitely lost a lot of weight. Haven't heard about any operations; my guess is that taking care of twins on top of full time golf training is the magic formula.
