Voodoo is spewing trash all over the golf course, just fell to +2 thru 13 holes. They're saying the wind is worse for the afternoon starters ... but NOT for all of them ... Cyborg is -5 thru 12 holes ... NOW is the time to win.
Welcome back, Sandra (70, -2)

Looks like In Gee is now a WD. Showing as +3 but in pos 107 which is well below the others.

Round 1 Great opening day for Hye Jin, although she bogied the final par 5. Still just two back after a 67. She couldn't stop smiling. Love the way she's starting this season! The surprise on the leaderboard is Rocket, who shot a 4 under par round including a hole-out for eagle. Nice! Sei Young was all over the map. Great shots, terrible shots, missed short putts, the works. -1 on day one. In Gee struggling alas. Probably won't get to see her this week. She can still make the cut if she picks up the pace a little. Name drop of 'seoulsisters.com' during the coverage (in reference to Hye Jin's nickname Penguin; I recall it happened when she was on the 10th hole or thereabouts).

Looks like In Gee is now a WD. Showing as +3 but in pos 107 which is well below the others. It's weird. She's listed in the correct spot now, but does not have a tee time. But they also did not say she has withdrawn. I think we can assume that she did withdraw and the scoreboard is broken. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4J1WWjPzu9

When I switched from the KLPGA after an hour. I thought that Hye Jin Choi would have a really great round after five under front nine. But she only managed an even par back nine with two birdies and two bogeys. Still a really good round.
Another up and down round by Sei Young Kim five birdies, four bogeys. She sure misses too many putts around five feet. Maybe it's time for her to change to one of those borderline illegal putters.
Ok round of minus two for Narin An. Sometime I wonder if she is going to end up going back to the KLPGA. The few times they show her, she doesn't seem to be enjoying herself.

Does anyone know what's with Lilia? She WD after round one. Last week she WD in the middle of round four, I believe. I didn't manage to stay awake to see her bogeys that Phil reported at the start of the back nine, but then she recovered with two birdies in the last four holes, making par 72 for the round. Sad to see Lilia, In Gee, and Jenny WD. Three of my favorites.

Lilia Vu withdrew again, maybe she is trying to play through an injury.

Hye-Jin! And Sei Young! MHL, "Anna Lynn," and rookie Yu Jin also lookng good... Also nice to see some lesser known or lesser successful Americans breaking out, Bailey Tardy, Caroline Inglis, Sarah Schmelzel. Maybe they can sustain their success into the weekend. Just don't catch Hye-Jin!
Different to see Ayaka wearing a pink skirt today instead of "Fur-oo yellow..."

Round 2 Strong days for Hye Jin and Sei Young, but Na Rin An came out of nowhere in the afternoon to produce some magic. Na Rin tied for the lead, Hye Jin one back, and Sei Young within four. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4QDsg5rykY Even Yu Jin Sung had a nice 70 to move to within 6, not out of it yet. Solid day 2 for Mi Hyang as well to make the cut. They even interviewed Hye Jin today, the first time I ever saw that, and in English! Not fluent, but she did pretty well and didn't need someone to translate the questions. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4PQJ65L_J_ Sisters hwaiting!

Great round by Na Rin An to get on the coverage. I don't remember her being on extensive LPGA coverage since BMW with Hee Jeong and Jin Young Ko.

The female Aussie announcer keeps referring to Bailey Two as "a rookie on tour this year." But 2023 was her rookie year...
Also, GC showed a promo for the current tournament. I always wonder what is the point of promoting a tournament during its own broadcast. Two of the golfers shown in the promo for this week's Blue Bay were Rose Zhang and Nelly Korda, neither of whom is there!
Great to see Sarah Schmelzel continuing to have success early in this season... until the disaster in the bunker on the 8th... but she saved par with her 2nd attempt out of the bunker once she had a better stance, or had a stance at all... does that count as a 'sand save?'
Hang in there Hye-Jin and "Anna Lynn!" A few good holes on the back nine could put you back on top...

Just took a look at the LPGA Leaderboard. In the top ten Hye Jin Choi even and Na Rin An plus one was the only ones not under par so far. Maybe they will rebound the back nine. But that's what happens to Korean golfers those near the top fall back. Those that has great finishes are too far back to catch up and win.

On the "Sand Trap" Board...someone posted that in the last 3 years there were 44 times where a Korean player was within 3 strokes of the lead going into Sunday..those players won just 6 times. In comparison, the U.S. had 49 players...and won 21 times. That's a complete turn around from the previous decade. That said there are too many good young Korean players for this trend to continue.

You're spot on Tony. I'm a fairly new fan of Korean players and I probably used the wrong word before (flaky) but there's something about the US players or even a Lydia or Minjee that means they go into "killer" mode and close the tournament out. I expect Lydia to go on to win tomorrow.
