I'm continually impressed by Ewan Porter's observations, who said Money Chien's swing looked like Notah Begay's .... wow, what a memory ... I can't remember how Begay swung a club ... I doubt Begay can remember how he swung a club.
**********
Boutier just made a miraculous chip-in eagle to get back to Even par for the day .... otherwise, she's been mediocre ... and they keep flogging Sagstrom's power, but has played like garbage. I'd love to see Fur-oo run away with this one ... and it's NOT crazy to think she could get to Rolex #1. Remember The Shinster in her prime? Also, I looked up Ai Miyazato in 2010 ... 77th in driving distance and she was Rolex #1 for 11 weeks.
******
The usual news blackout on MHL is in place on the broadcast ... current -4 overall thru 11 holes ... if she can just get to -5, that might change.

Team HoJo showed up again .... I'll keep an eye out for any North American followers this spring.

I ended up watching today after all. I have a feeling Phil is going to like the big Mi Hyang Lee hole out. She played with Hye Jin and Hae Ran today and all three had good days.

I'm with you Phil. If a sister isn't going to win this, then it would be great to see Ay-a-kee come out on top. Especially after the incessant 'analysis' about how her drives were so short. They did praise her accuracy though.
Sagstrom had two things going for her, driving distance and the 'Amy Yang style' hat. Neither helped her much on a disastrous moving day. But the hat was good to Hannah Green who moved into solo 2nd. Amy herself has been wearing a standard visor, not 'the hat' so far this tournament. Maybe that's why she's only T32 at plus+1; admittedly in good company with Minjee and Lydia. (But not this week...)
Two sisters still in play on Sunday (in Singapore.) Jin Young (could she get a three-peat?) and Hye-Jin. Each needs to pass four golfers, which is quite possible.

Round 3 Jin Young made up for her doldrums the first two rounds with her first great round of the year. 6 under par 66, 8 birdies and two bogies; and some of those putts were really good. Four back in a tie for 5th, she has a good chance to grab the win if she can keep playing like this tomorrow. I'll be sending all the good vibes I can; in the entire history of Korean women's golf, only one player has ever won the same event three straight times (Inbee Park captured the LPGA Championship three straight years). Jin Young might never get another chance to grab a piece of history like this, so I hope she can get it done. Hye Jin has been solid all week without really being sensational, but she is four back and in position to make a run Sunday. Today she got to 7 under before an unexpected bogey on 17 knocked her back to 6 under. It would be an incredible start to her year to get the winless monkey off her back, so if Jin Young comes up short I hope Hye Jin can do it. Hae Ran made birdie on the last to get to 4 under, where Mi Hyang also is, and Sei Young and In Gee are also in the top 20. They are too far back to win, but a top ten is definitely doable. Amy and Jiyai are not making it easier on themselves to make the Olympic team. Neither has done all that well this week. But Hyo Joo was the surprise stinker today, shooting a 78, her first terrible round of the season. Oh well, can't be great every time. Hwaiting!!

Celine, Jin Young and Hye-Jin all together in penultimate group. I expect one of these to rip it up tomorrow and question will be can Furue hold on. It will be great if a sister can win but I'd be pleased for the the pocket day-glo star too.

One of my highlights was as soon as Hannah Green's ball dropped on 18 for birdie, the skies just opened up. Fortunately, the deluge was relatively brief.

Currently at my mom's where Newsmax competes with Foxnews on who can scream the loudest about The Border ... which reminds me ... what happened to Salas?! She hasn't played a lick in ages ... she had a T-20 at the USWO last year before vanishing. She's #37 on the LPGA priority with an injury asterisk ... can't recall what that is about ... the last posting on her IG was 47 weeks ago.
*******
In other news, Yuri Yoshida will make her debut as an LPGA pro at the Pak Open ... as of now, she's going in cold with no starts on the JLPGA before that.

Crusty is quite busy with her wine business, but will make her 2024 debut in AZ this month. The Ford Championship gave an invite to Sharpy who lives in AZ.

MHL!
Three holes, three birdies ... the TV broadcast starts in five minutes - what a jinx.

Jin Young! After a shaky start, she turns her round in the right direction with birdies on 9, 10, and 11. Go for the three-peat!

Jin Young is just not hitting enough fairways -- just 3 of 10 right now. That third birdie putt on 11 was amazing: 60+ footer right in the heart, but the fact that she had to make such a long putt shows you that she isn't hitting it well enough alas. And she just made a bogey on 12, so it's over for her; four back, I can't see her making that up.
Still, I love that she keeps fighting. Here's hoping she can get to 10 under and perhaps luck will go her way. Hwaiting!

MHL!
Three holes, three birdies ... the TV broadcast starts in five minutes - what a jinx. The jinx ended after the 4th... now eagle-birdie on 16 and 17 put a sister within one stroke of Boutier...

Well, it looks like another week where Céline turns out to be unstoppable. That's happened with some frequency in the last year or so. I know there's an ABC club on this board, I admit that I'm a member, Anybody But Céline. But you gotta respect Céline, she's a solid golfer.
Ayaka stayed stuck on par and that wasn't going to win. Too many quality golfers close to her entering the round. Oh, she still has a minor outside chance, but if I were a betting man looking for an upset in the last two or three holes, I'd put my money on Hannah Green ahead of Ayaka right now. (As I write this, Hannah picks up a stroke on 16 and again on 17 to tie Céline! Looks like an interesting 18th tonight, EDT, GMT-5.)
Both MHL and Jin Young gave it a shot in the final round but it was not to be this week. Even the awesome Brooke put on a late charge but she was denied especially after ending up in the sand on 18. Yuna also put on a great charge but it's just too hard to pass so many quality golfers in the last round. Nasa made a valiant effort and Andrea Lee hung with the leaders for awhile.
Best wishes to the sisters for a great weekend at the Blue Bay next week. I'll try to follow the action as I travel from Michigan, to Indiana, to Ohio, to Pennsylvania, to New York...
