I'm amazed at the strength of the Seattle field. I was planning to skip this one after going the last two times it was held at Rainier CC because usually the highlight of the field was the UofW Husky golf team members. Two years ago, the qualifier was held at a Kent WA course and the only "name" player was Celine Herbin who played so poorly she didn't bother with the second 18 that afternoon. If I recall, some 14-year-old amateur from Canada won the qualifier.
Looks like I will be attending this time around.

Aw man ex Trojan Alexa Melton would certainly have brought some extra eyeballs to this one, she has been languishing in Epson Land. Good effort!

Golfcrest C.C., Pearland, Texas
Dori Carter ... and Ashleen Kaur (baby sis am of Gurleen Kaur) ... and that's about it ... I had to dig through The Archives to remember when I last saw Dori ... got it, 2022, on the Seaview range during a pro-am day, chatting with the Callaway rep ... it is so over for Dori (age 37), but she might sneak in on experience alone ... my guess is that some local amateur who has played this course 400 times will be low medalist ... two spots available, plus two alternates.

Btw, the player list has a country next to each name ... it says INA YOON Japan yeah, she is fed up with Koreans.
Unlike the U.S. locations, spectators are banned. I couldn't find any info on how many players will get picked ... it's usually the top four or five in Japan.

Where would Alexa's 116k followers rank in LPGA circles 18majors 116K followers! I've never even heard of her. More known for her looks, and she ain't afraid to flaunt it on the gram... Played college at Pepperdine and USC (we do attract the best looking 🤷♂️) and currently below mid on the Epson Tour, same priority as Kiwi rookie phenom Fiona Xu. Qualifying for the US Open is now her career highlight.

Was practicing today at my local (Soule Park, Ojai CA) when Yuri Yoshida rolled up to the range with her caddie. I don't know of her, just caught a glimpse of her bag. I'll try to check out qualifying on 4/29.

Four players shot better than six-under to qualify. A playoff for the 5th spot between Ayako Kimura and Hibiki Iriya(a) was stopped by darkness after six holes ... they'll continue on Tuesday. The loser will be 1st alternate. Haruka Kawasaki won a playoff over Hana Wakimoto to be 2nd alternate.
These four punched their tickets: Pei Ying Tsai, Yui Kawamoto, Amiyu Ozeki and Saiki Fujita. Ozeki was low medalist and says Dumbo became her role model when she watched her win the 2015 JWO.
Ina Yoon (-1) and Soo Min Oh(a) (+2) struck out.
Erika Hara (-2)
