The website above hasn't posted anything for 2024 yet, but it's safe to assume that this event will be held April 3-6, 2024, which is one week before The Masters.
************
The Week 52 WAGR ratings (posted NOW, but will be updated to Week 1 of 2024 tomorrow) will play a major role in filling the field. As usual, the Korean amateur scene appears to be within a bubble of indifference ... among the top-50 players, only two have ROK flags next to their names (Minsol Kim/#4 and Soomin Oh/#48) ... meanwhile, I count nine Japan flags and seven Spain (!) flags. No doubt, the ratings are skewed by U.S. college and big U.S. amateur events, which probably explains why there are so many Spaniards in the top-50. But, the Japanese players aren't going to U.S. colleges ... do they get more invites to JLPGA events, compared to Korean ams playing in KLPGA events?
If you extend the analysis to the top-75, that brings in two more Koreans, but also three more Japanese and one more Spaniard!
Minsol is a legit baller and Hyosong Lee (aka Winbee Jr. or Baby Shinster) might be another, but the rest, who knows.

Hook 'em Horns ... two Texas freshwomen are going, Lauren Kim and Farah O'Keefe. Kim (70.67) and O'Keefe (70.42) were the two lowest scorers on the team during the first half of 2023-24.

For you itinerant golf bums in the South/East, the Auburn Tigers is a team you should check out this winter and spring. Casey Weidenfeld (below) received her Wonka ticket and she'll have at least two teammates with her. They will probably be Megan Schofill (USWA champ) and Anna Davis (past ANWA champ). Weidenfeld and Schofill both averaged under 71 during the fall. Davis started school in January and I assume she will play right away, as she is way too good to sit on the bench. Auburn also has Ami Gianchandani (the ex-Yale Librarian) and a player I saw in passing at the 2021 USWA, Katie Cranston.
I don't know if it's me or the computers I'm using, but the IG pictures I've posted lately haven't be downloading to this site ... the link is there, but that's it. I don't think I'm doing anything different.

Carolina Chacarra, junior at Wake Forest, averaged under 72 during her first two years ... and she averaged 69.92 during the first half of 2023-24. WF is crazy good with only six players on the roster ... and five of them averaged under 72 during the last semester.
I don't know if she is related to Eugenio Chacarra, who is currently on Greg Norman's grudge tour.
Another junior shooting it up is Lauryn Nguyen of Northwestern U ... topped her team last semester with a 70.42 average.

Duke's contribution ... like Wake Forest, they carry only six players on its roster.
Florida's contribution ... unlike Duke, they have ten players ... Filler is the pick of the litter with a 69.6 scoring average during the past semester, which was way better than everyone else on her team.

On an unrelated note, I came across a couple of college teams that have eleven players on the roster. Ole Miss is one of them ... four players are transfers ... must be something there they like. Ole Miss played four events in fall and only five players played in all of them ... one player played two events ... one played one event ... and the other four sat on the bench. It's jungle golf ... the coach probably gave up trying to keep everyone happy ... Ole Miss won the NCAA title in 2021, so they can justify their system.
*************
UCLA is tearing it up in 2023-24 ... three wins in the first five tournaments ... they had several players averaging under 71 during this time. The queen bee in terms of big-time exposure is Zoe Campos:
Fourth invite for Amanda Sambach who is the queen bee at Virginia ... shot 70.17 during the first half of 2023-24 ... shot 71.31 during 2022-23 and 72.85 in 2021-22.

The final field of 72 is posted in a Golfweek article today. The KGA cheaped out by sending only Minsol.

You'll be happy to know, Oh Soomin wants to play at Augusta National. I assume that means ANWA. She says while wearing her Hana Financial hat.
🤪
Hana, KGA, or whoever needs to get working. How awesome would it be for Oh Soomin to win ANWA. To do that they need to get cracken so she can have two attempts at the trophy.

Love this event.
Definitely seems like a US centric event. It seems to have become an important event to promote Ladies golf in the US.
Champions Retreat is a tough course with the same fast greens as Augusta National.
I wish Korea would have a similar event in Korea and over time invite more and more top WAGR players. I have no idea when such an event could be.

Three college players named Park are in the field ... maybe that's what Soomin Oh should do - go to U.S. college and reside in U.S., so that going to ANWA is easy ... waiting for the KGA to help her get there is a fool's errand. It doesn't help getting into ANWA that all top ROK ams are pressured to turn pro after leaving the crib.
This event is U.S.-centric only by reserving 30 spots for Americans ... but, that leaves 42 other players that could all be foreigners (theoretically) ... regardless, the KGA didn't want to blow the lock off its vault.
It may be a long time before the ROK flag is raised at ANWA. I'm much more surprised that Korea hasn't won the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship ... 0 for 6 so far.
