You may recall this event from last year; it featured various teams of players from all over Asia. So Yeon Ryu and Bo Mee Lee teamed to capture the team trophy.  The 2023 edition will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, starting on December 21st, and once again they have a star studded field lined up. Among the big non-Koreans are Nasa Hataoka and Atthaya Thitikul. The Koreans will include KLPGA stars like Hee Jeong Lim, Rookie of the Year Min Byeol Kim, Youmin Hwang, Da Yeon Lee and So Young Lee. It will be a great chance for the two youngsters to get some international experience. In addition, amateur stars 'the second Inbee Park' Hyo Song Lee and 'the top ranked Korean amateur' Min Sol Kim will participate. There will be additional golfers from the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Australia and New Zealand and other places as well. No word on whether Bo Mee and So Yeon will return to defend their title, but it doesn't look like it. The event will be contested over three days. |

It looks like the final field has been posted and Smile Candy & The Perfect Woman are not on it.  In addition to the players in the above post, the field will include Sharon, Baba-chan, Q-Series leader Robyn Choi, Bianca, Her Royal Highness Princess Mary Superal, Ting Ting and Mini Ting Ting. Last year's tourney was all on YouTube live, hope they do it again. Really looking forward to this as they are playing the same golf course again with the wiry rough and grainy greens that embarrassed the LPGA "name" golfers in 2022. But, I don't know if the course plays differently in December, instead of August last time.
Tiff Chan and The EMP sure hit the skids as they can't even get into this one for their respective countries.
ROK must be putting up the bulk of the money as they'll have five teams. The specific twosomes are not spelled out yet, but I'm guessing that Sharon and Q-Baek will be the new Over-The-Hill Gang. I hope the broadcast shows the entire uncut pre-shot routine of So Young Lee and outrages the whole world.  Human got a lot of luv on last year's broadcast, hope she's not ignored this year.
I wonder if Japan will go for the win by teaming NASA with Baba-chan ... because I never heard of the other two Japanese players.
Taiwan might create a stir with the Hou sisters as one team and Money Chien with Pei Ying Tsai as its other team.

A recent article confirmed that the teams will be:
Youmin Hwang and Min Byeol Kim (LOVE them being on a team together)
The two amateurs Min Sol and Hyo Song
'Same age golfers' Da Yeon Lee and So Young Lee
Hee Jeong Lim teams with former rookie So Yi Jeong, perhaps the most unusual pairing.
Shin Ae Ahn teams with Q Baek, another unusual choice.
Action starts in two weeks!

Jakarta is 12 hours ahead of NYC, so they should have started teeing off already. However, I don't see a link on the event's YouTube page to watch this live ... likewise, no link on the tournament website. JTBC Golf is carrying this, which might be an indicator that there are no freebies in 2023. Let's hope the rounds are at least posted on a delayed basis later.

I've been watching for 34 minutes and have yet to see a single scoreboard.
They're living up to their quirky coverage rep, with Annie Park getting so much star treatment you'd think her first name was Inbee.
The color commentator sounds like she learned how to speak English on the drive to the course this morning.
No spectators but plenty of roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing.
The drone shots of the featured holes are pretty cool...instead of trying to look like the old helicopter shots, they take advantage of the drone's ability to dive down almost to human's eye view, then swoop up like a ball in flight.
