Officially this is a very lucrative exhibition tournament. This is not a KLPGA sanctioned event. The KLPGA Tour ended with the SK event.

This article lays out the ridiculous 'luxury' of this week's event. The official money is all paid in crypto-currency; that and four dollars will buy you a cup of coffee, right? Or maybe not: the total purse translates to 2.4 billion won assuming the current value of the Wemix currency holds. For contrast, that is a billion won more than the biggest event on the KLPGA, and that total would be for a full field, not 20 players like at the Queen of Queens event. The first place prize is 250 million Wemix, which would be worth 606 million won (!!!). That's well over half a million dollars, bigger than any KLPGA event I've ever seen. No wonder they coaxed all the top names to show up for the event (except Min Ji Park, who skipped). In addition, there is a 50 million Wemix prize for daily best every day, which translates into 100 billion won. I'm kidding, they didn't say what that translates into, but since it's 1/5 the top prize, that would make it 120 million won, which is over 100K dollars. This all assumes you can cash this crap out easily and that its value is real and not smoke and mirrors.

I went to the web page and tried the translation. Among the amusing names: Shin Sil Bang translated as 'Bulletproof Chamber' (!!!) and Gyeol Park was 'Thin Grain'.

I'll post a stream of consciousness as I watch the pairing video...
They've really upgraded this event since last year. That year it was barely publicized. The rules this year are difficult to parse at times, but at least they've added some interesting elements to the action.
So my take is you'd have to be an idiot to choose Da Yeon Lee or Shin Sil Bang. I'm watching live and am guessing that they are going last.
Jin Hee Im goes first and chooses Gyeol Park
Yewon Lee chooses Jin Seon Han
So far so good... Min Byeol next...
She chose Je Young Lee... Yeah, that works.
Suji Kim vs. So Young Lee... Hmm, maybe not an ideal choice?
Cutieful is taking forever to choose... Passed up Seung Hui Ro for... Shin Sil Bang? WTF? Two-time winner Bang? "Bulletproof Chamber"? Youch, interesting choice.
So Mi Lee-- I'm not fond of her new haircut. She looks too much like Eun Hee Ji now (I think she joked about it). She chooses: So Hyun Bae. Apparently Bae is a good match play player, so another interesting choice.

Youmin Hwang picked Seung Hui Ro. FINALLY! That was a major oversight since Cutieful blew her pick.
Eugene Sung chose Ye Sung Jun. Another player who should have been chosen much earlier.
Min Ji Park finally. I think she's the last to get a choice. Wisely, she chooses Ye Rim Choi instead of Da Yeon Lee.
So Jung Min Hong gets Da Yeon. Good luck with that.
Worst choice: Hyun Kyung Park takes Shin Sil Bang. But could be a fun match! Long hitter but questionable putter vs. short hitter but great putter.
