Muni He vs Leona in the 8:50A pairing. 2025 Solheim preview?
Muni is the natural spokesperson for women’s golf. A good enough round tomorrow and maybe Mollie will notice.

This is almost unwatchable. As I write this a USA player has the lead and I just shut it off. The men are taking up 60% of coverage. We only get to see the same 6 females. They only show the top 6 on the scoreboard so you can't see what other players are doing ... ↑↑↑↑↑ THIS. ↑↑↑↑↑ So unwatchable. Who's still in the hunt? I don't think anyone outside of the top eight; it's not that someone couldn't get hot and pick up six strokes on the leader. But how likely to ALSO pick up five strokes on the two T2 golfers, and ALSO to pick up four strokes on Metraux, and ALSO to pick up two strokes on the four T5 golfers? I guess that leaves out Soo Bin (hope that she ends up in the top ten or even closer) and despite my continual statement, "never count out the Thai golfers," well, count out Meechai this time.
Honestly, it would be great to see Ryann O'Toole get her second career win at the age of 36. Henseleit and Valenzuela and Law have shown up previously; Law actually has a single career win so it would be her second too. Maybe this is Cowan's week, she was top ten in a major a week ago. Pano looks good, and maybe her golf will look good on Sunday; it would be career-changing if it occurred but I would not count on it. If the round 3 leader Cowley or Metraux pull it out on Sunday, you can laugh at me... but I wish them no ill. Someone needs to take advantage of this (1) totally lame field and (2) inexplicable inability of Hall and Maguire to leave these others in the dust, let alone compete. Instead, they trail by eight strokes and 20 golfers going into Sunday...
... and the announcers....well I rather watch it with no volume. Makes me wish for Morgan, and Grant, and all of the GC gang... did you ever think you'd be agreeing with those words???

I guess it's asking too much for Aza to get her second win 11 years after her first ... tearing it up with -5 on her first 15 holes, but needs to run the table to have a realistic chance ... I don't care about the rest of the players in the top-10 as of now.

15 minutes since Team Pano made a 5 on the 20th hole and LPGA.COM still hasn’t posted Cowley’s score. Mollie is still on her extended first 100 days to get things sorted.

Congrats to Alexa Pano on her first LPGA win, at the ISPS Handa World Invitational!

Good grief, Pano won? I looked up her season results. $65K earned to date (before this week, obvs). Missed 6/11 cuts. Only one top 20, and that was at the team event. Her best solo finish has been t-22nd at the ShopRite, another weaker field.
I mean, congrats to her, but think about the fact that Hye Jin and Hae Ran don't have a win on tour and Pano does...

You can only beat the players that signed on to play. Maybe Hye Jin and Hae Ran should have played.

It's not Pano's fault the others didn't have the guts to challenge her.

The Dream and the journey isn’t much different for all these players but Pano’s has been so documented it feels like you can almost weigh the effort.

The Dream and the journey isn’t much different for all these players but Pano’s has been so documented it feels like you can almost weigh the effort. Yet the narrative is so different for Alexa compared to Rose Zhang, another so well documented young emerging golfer with one win this year. Oh sure, I know that Rose was top ten in three majors this year and Alexa missed half her cuts. And I don't begrudge the attention that Rose receives. She has earned and continues to earn it and she's great for the cause of women's golf. But GC could not wait to cut away from the ISPS Handa after Cowley missed her birdie putt to clinch Alexa's win. Did they even give it 10 seconds? Certainly not 30. Fed Ex Cup was calling; the Handa playoff was delaying... When's the last time that an LPGA tournament ended with a first time winner and you didn't get to see the winner doused with water and/or champagne? Yes, it's a silly 'tradition.' But it is a 'tradition' and when I didn't see it, I was wondering, do the other golfers not like Alexa? Doesn't she have any friends on the tour? Likely they all skipped this tournament... And even more likely, GC could not be bothered to show it...
I did not tune in until the 2nd playoff hole. Alexa was in some trees and Cowley was in a strong position. I certainly have so ill will towards Cowley but I was cheering for Alexa. I figured Cowley had it won until she inexplicably three-putted. I feel for Cowley; the British announcers were saying something about how she had similarly 'choked' in an LET tournament in a recent year. Had Cowley won, I could just imagine the 'media' presenting her as the 'British Nelly Korda.' Especially from the back side, when I saw her walking I thought that it was Nelly... This tournament field was so lame. Hall and Maguire should have crushed it. But they finished T16 eight strokes off the pace. Same as 19 year old rookie Soo Bin. Others who 'should have' won include Henseleit, O'Toole, and Steen. O'Toole seemed to have the tournament won at minus-9 after the 12th on Sunday. Was anyone within two or three strokes of her at that point? I feel for Ryann, golf is a crushing game... Phil, you had mentioned Aza and that would have been a great success or redemption story too, same as Ryann. But it's just so hard to pass so many golfers on the last day. It's one thing to be six strokes behind in 2nd entering Sunday, that's actually a stronger position than, say, three or four strokes behind with 10 golfers ahead of you. Aza started, what, eight strokes behind and something like 20 golfers ahead of her? Congrats to her for T6 within three strokes of the winner. She did not give up even though she was out of reach for a win. I admire anyone who plays for pride, never give up...
HF, I wish that the sisters Hae Ran (CME #20) and Hye-Jin (CME #40) had entered the Handa. They would certainly have been competitive with Pano (CME #38 after her win, much lower before.) Henseleit #36, Valenzuela #42, and O'Toole #47, and that's after their relatively successful results at Handa. I hope that both of those sisters earn a win before the end of the year. I wish that they had not passed on a more possible win with an easy field at the Handa... On to Vancouver, BC, Canada... let Brooke welcome us...

I may think Zhang gets way too much attention, but you have to admit she's been a much more accomplished golfer than Pano in her amateur career and so far as a pro. I don't resent that she gets comparatively more, just that she's treated like the best golfer of the past ten years with scant evidence to back that up. I somehow suspect that neither Hye Jin nor Hae Ran are quaking in their boots about anyone , they're enjoying their lives and they should be. Personally, I don't want them playing Epson-level events just so they can get a win under their belts; glad they saved their energy for something more interesting. My point is that it's unfortunate that this event is given the same weight in the end as an event with lots of top players; but not much you can do about it except point it out. Tony, if you don't care about the relative competitiveness of an event, why do you always take the time to tell us what it is? Cause essentially that's all I'm doing here.
