Watching this at my parents' house ... Foltzy said The ECP is noticeably shorter with her sawed-off driver and I'm inclined to agree ... No. 18 is listed at 417 today and she had an approach of 171, do the math ... what a b.s. rule ... bogeyed the hole, but still finished at -4. No. 18 looks tough ... Furue made bogey and "settled" for -3 ... Cyborg has received some coverage today and should get more as she is -4 thru 15 holes ... they have a mic on Sagstrom today and I thought I heard a bunch of bleeps earlier ... I'm guessing that was her looper ... he can work for DK if Man Bun gets canned.

although only 5-0 in height, ayaka furue appears to be a more consistent player than shibuno,,,,, she was 4th at evian last year...... hopefully, starting now she will be a new name at the top of lpga leaderboards....

I'd post a couple of Getty pics, but there aren't any so far.
They had a brief feature on Sophia Schubert with her pretty face sitting under a cap from ... Wilson?!!!! That seems really crazy considering she wore a Cally cap when she earned a top-10 money ranking on the Symetra Tour. Wilson has a lot more buzz on the LET than on the LPGA ... I assume the little Spaniard is the only other Wilson LPGA staffer ... I forget her name .... now I have to look it up. Okay, got it, Nuria Iturrioz.
Karrie is hanging in there nicely with the youngsters ... her iron swing is still a beauty, but I'm sure she's realistic enough to know that 48-year-olds on this tour don't make putts, period. They showed Su Oh in her group hitting a lousy hybrid shot ... it looked like a Ping. I assumed she was all Callaway, but maybe she never was.
Angel Yin, DFL thru 12 holes, WTH happened to her?

I wasn't kidding about that Wilson cap ... and the Getty shutterbug was also in disbelief (or paid off by Wilson) ... look what he submitted:
The loop is Britney Hamilton ... not familiar with her, but she was with Jasmine for the first half of 2021 before getting canned (I assume she was canned ... why would she leave a player like that voluntarily?)
Sometimes the head covers cover other brands, but maybe not in this case.
.... and now for the cherry on top of the cake ... Schubert putting a Wilson Staff Model ball in play. This is a stunner ... I think Iturrioz only plays the Staff irons. I suppose it's possible that Wilson balls have been used on the LPGA before ... like maybe during the marshmallow '60s or '70s. Funny, I clicked on the advisory staff at Wilson's website and only saw men.

Dr. Noh was Dr. Nope (+6) today ... video interview at some time this week ... it appears that she dumped Descente apparel for an unknown (to me) brand ... not really digging the medical tunic look ... worked better on 'Ben Casey'.

Round 1
Sweet and tidy 67 for Hye Jin Choi to start her LPGA career, matched by Six. Nice! Amy, In Gee 68s (In Gee had 7 birdies), just shy of the top ten. Yaeeun Hong got to -4 at one point, but slipped back to a 70. Still not too bad. And a 71 for Na Rin An. She and Inbee, also at -1, have some work to do.

Didn't watch any of this ... many fewer sub-70 rounds today ... GOOD! Pay no attention to the GC talking heads who say if a course is hard or not ... instead, look at the course stats. My frame of reference begins with the Seaview because I've been there so many times ... to me, the greens there look small ... per the GCSAA stats, the average size is 6,000 sq. feet. Well, guess what? The average green at Boca Rio is 5,130 sq. feet or 14.5% smaller. Throw in the facts that Boca has a few more bunkers and WAY more water hazards in play ... and throw in an extra 500 or 600 yards, boy that's a TOUGH golf course for the LPGA (which one does not say often enough).
Great job by all the Asian rookies, plus Frenchy, for making the cut.
LUV Bianca, but really, a double and a triple on her last eight holes today?
Losebee thought she could throw her bag on the 1st tee and pick up another check ... umm, not quite.
From Thursday, Steph Meadow still gaming an old version of Callaway Apex ("Rubbish") irons ... well, it's a matter of opinion (and she made it to the weekend) ... from a business standpoint, Cally had a winner here ... I've look in many bags at elite women amateur events over the last few years and I saw these sticks a lot.

One good thing came out of today's round. Jeongeun Lee6, Na Rin An and A Lim Kim will play together. They still have a chance for top tens. In Gee Chun and Hye Jin Choi has chances for top five or better. They just have to bring their "A" game over the weekend.

NEWS FLASH: Crazy Bob got demoted this year to a side position on Khang's cap.
Marlin Perkins > Mr. Kaboom Baby
******
Furue's Viva Heart top says THINK GREAT ACT GREAT ... well, she probably did ... three-under after two days on a long course with small greens is not shabby. I wonder if she could really light it up on a short course like the Seaview ... I want to be there for that.

Round 2
Not the best day for the Sisters. Not often Inbee misses a cut (but when she does, it's usually by a single shot). Most all of them struggled today, with only Hye Jin barely sneaking into the top ten. I sure hope we can get one or two good rounds tomorrow from the Sisters, cause this is kinda a boring leaderboard TBH. In Gee, Hye Jin, Lee6, A Lim and Na Rin are all still close enough to have an outside chance; any guesses who might come out on top tomorrow?

Round 2 cause this is kinda a boring leaderboard TBH.
DK? The Old Ko? OUT with the old and IN with the new? Got it ...
... which reminds me ... NYC DFL OMG ... if she doesn't have the bad back excuse anymore, then it's a total disaster ... all the world's Chinese (except for one) are in deep mourning ... and me too, there is much to like about her.
Haeji Kang ... that new coach and new swing ain't paying off yet.
Interview this week with Unlucky Five, who hacked her way into the weekend ... her survival instinct has always been high ... I hadn't noticed before, but she ditched the fast food chicken cap and replaced it with a hospital group cap:
