Oops, we started the same thread at the same time. I'll try to get rid of mine ... if I can't, HF will have to do it.
Regarding a few of Monday's washouts:
12 Brooke Matthews (USA) USA +1 73 (She is still on the 2021-22 Razorback roster online ... is that an oversight? Has she officially turned pro yet? She's definitely in the field at JTBC/Aviara) 22 Simin Feng (CHN) CHN +2 74 (#469 on the LPGA priority list ... What is she doing here? I thought she would try to build some momentum off of winning on Japan's scrub tour last year ... maybe she's going back later) 48 Youngin Chun (KOR) KOR +8 80 (DFL ... can daddy get her a TV job in Korea?)

Ayaka Furue has had plenty of time to practice at Boca Rio ... unless the greens have her totally fooled, I cannot see her trunk slamming ... her swing is too pure to do that. The white line course length is 6701 yards, but it will play less than that ... certainly within the length of many JLPGA courses. The past cuts were +1 and +2, which were not crazy challenging, and the past winning scores of -17 and -16 were not crazy ridiculous. She is not on the pro-am list, which is probably a good break for the first rookie start. She has the same guy (Mike Scott) on her bag.

Shibuno didn't qualify for this tournament anyway as her mediocre finish in the Q-series has her No. 153 on the Priority List. The field list only went down to No. 145 (Kelly Tan).

The caddie list is out ... quite a few blank names, including players who aren't playing this week. A shortcut by the intern? I hope they fill in a few names later this week. Harry "Confidence" Ewing landed on his feet with Marina Alex after the MHL debacle. Mr. Chinstrap escaped prison Down Under and will be with Dumbo ... a permanent move? He hasn't had the same player continually for quite a while. Dr. Noh dumped Jesus Mozo ... he didn't resurface with anyone, yet. Cyborg has Thad Kael ... looks like a smart move by her management team. Na Rin An has Jeffrey Snow ... I don't know that name ... just looked it up at Getty, he had HoJo's bag at Shoal Creeek in 2018. Yuka Saso with Vern Tess again, I guess Lionel got kicked to the curb. Ashleigh Buhai not with Tanya Paterson, but there is a Michael Paterson on the bag ... I'm guessing that's Tanya's husband.

One other caddie note: Cheeseburger Chad got a reprieve for 2022 with one-time winner Cheyenne Knight ... although her earnings dropped like a rock from 2020 to 2021. Nevertheless, it's a significant improvement over the likes of SC Cheng, who bombed off the tour.
*******
The threesomes are set ... Muni and The Rocket together, I like that. Furue got Atthaya and Altomare, that's really good. The Penguin got Schubert and an invitee from India. Oh, now it's 'Gerina Michelle Mendoza' on the tee sheet (I told you she wasn't wearing a ring at Cognizant) ... grouped with Yu Liu and Paula Reto ... long-ballers, all three. The Hat Signing Queen got LeBlanc and an invitee from Florida. I guess Karrie must be really bored in her undeclared retirement ... hasn't made an LPGA cut in 2 1/2 years ... Su Oh and Winbee will be the lucky ones to witness her UFOs later this week.

I have yet to see any Americans write anything about any of the three Rookie sisters, including Hye Jin. Well, I'm kinda hoping we see Penguin at least get her rookie year off to a smashing start this week. Force 'em to talk about her. Rookies Hwaiting!

Quite right, I couldn't find anything at Golfweek/GC/Golf, but the minor league Korean media isn't much better. They can't find anyone on-site to take pictures and look in a player's bag. but we have that for the Japanese players (and there are so few of them).
Furue and NASA yesterday
Gary Gilchrist has more on his plate this week than The Entitled Malaysian Provocateur. It was reported that NASA has not had a specific coach in a long time ... in fact, last year's KPMG was the first time she ever brought in a coach to the tournament venue.
It's too fuzzy to see, but this is the Google mush on Saso's latest driver:
1W chooses the latest model "Rogue ST" series. The heel is engraved with the "◆◆◆" mark, and although it has not been announced yet, it seems to be a tour specification type that is also listed in the R & A compatible driver head list.
I thought Saso had a full-bag deal with Callaway, but she is still gaming Miura irons:
Driver: Callaway Rogue ST Triple Diamond (Loft 8.5 degrees) Shaft: Mitsubishi Chemical TENSEI Pro White 1K (Weight 50g, Hardness S, Length 45.5 inches)
Fairway Wood: Callaway Epic SPEED Triple Diamond (3rd 15 degrees) Utility: Callaway APEX UW (19 degrees) Iron: Miura Giken TC-101 (Nos. 4-9) Wedges: Callaway JAWS FORGED (46, 48 degrees), Callaway JAWS (56, 60 degrees) Putter: Odyssey Toulon Putter San Diego Ball: Callaway Chrome Soft X
Maybe the Cally irons are a work-in-progress. She'll have a four-iron this week, but other golf courses might prompt her to swap it out for a 52-degree.

Well, I don't know about their presence on-site, but they certainly are writing a lot about them in Korea. Here's an article from today. You won't be surprised to hear that her eventual goal is world #1. Hye Jin Choi

I'm happy to discover that there is one Korean website that is NOT Mickey Mouse when it covers its players on the LPGA, which I bookmarked today:
It has video interviews of Haeji Kang, Na Rin An and Yae Eun Hong this week. The most interesting one was with Kang, starting her 14th season, who said words like "swing change" and "top-30". Per Google mush, she had a new coach in the off-season and incorporated swing changes. She didn't identify the coach or describe the changes ... don't expect to learn either from the GIC, unless she is in the top-5 this week.
*********
Pretzel was hanging out with Saso yesterday ... we might hear about it on GC
More Gilchrist with NASA
Furue's mode of transportation this week.
