Machine! That's the Jin Young Ko I've waited all season to see. It never felt at any time today like she was going to lose this, even when someone like Six would close the gap for a minute. This was not an easy course, but I don't remember a single shot that was less than decent all day, and most were great. It feels like this easily could have been a 65 had her putter behaved just a little; she missed at least four putts by the barest of margins. Just incredible stuff! Maybe this is her secret: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUBqXymtAKx Lucky Six did make some mistakes, but it was an all right week with a top ten. Her namesake Five did a lot better, scoring her career best finish, a tie for second. Su Oh notched her first top ten of the year! Even Sung Hyun Park was looking good, although she missed a short eagle putt on 18 after a spectacular approach. Close to a top ten, but no cigar. Congrats to Jin Young Ko on career win #9! She's still #2, but she tries harder! Hwaiting!

Also, it was pretty badass that Jin Young gave half her victory interview in Korean, especially after they went on and on about how nice it was she was learning English. You can't tame her!!

When will Whan pull his head out of his ass and bring the US Open back to the Pacific Northwest? For Christ's sake, in 2026 it will be 80 years since Patty Berg won the first US Open in Spokane.

The US Women's Open was at Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon in 2003; I went to it!

I found the final interview from a Korean-language broadcast; I don't think Jerry knew how to respond LOL.

Admit it -- wasn't this a lot more fun than watching a birdie fest? When a player pulled out a birdie on some of these holes, it seemed like a real feat! And it made what Jin Young did all the more impressive. I hope we get more like it!

No other active player can control a final round so completely.

I heard Judy Rankin once again call Jin Young robotic. Enough with this rickety old woman her dumb takes and flat out made-up bullshit. Earlier in the tournament she tried to muse on Sung Hyun Park's rough season but instead of mentioning a shoulder problem and like, factual stuff she starts to think out loud about the possible mental toll taken by the pandemic. Somebody, if properly motivated, could totally expose the latent bigotry of all these assholes. The name-mispronouncing microaggressions alone could fill an entire Atlantic article. It's only a matter of time.

It's only a matter of time. I was ranting about the same things during this week. SHP is inexcusable because there was a very recent golf.com article where she explained it quite clearly. The whole robotic thing rubs me the wrong way with a racist vibe... It seems to always come up when Asians outperform white people. Like the only way that's possible is some lack of humanity. Fuck that shit.

I think it is compliment. Robots are superior to human beings although that's not saying much. Maybe it would be better to call them machines. Palmer described Hogan as pretty much a machine and there was Gene "The Machine" Littler. Albert Pujols, the most-respected baseball player of his generation is called Machine. The only true lady robot player was Sorenstam.
