I read that Lewis is looking pretty unhappy....I also am not feeling it for her. Although it was a hit and giggle event...the blast, wedge and putt event today....Ko's game looked good....but again like you.....I'm not feeling it for her. If The Dragon Lady allowed Lydia to play Shoprite and skip the Manulife to prep more this week....I'd favor Ko more. Am I the only one who prefer's Lydia in her glasses....her WRX nickname is/was The Librarian. Hmmmm...so Gulbis is joined with Ko and Lewis at the event....yet #2 and two time defending champ, Inbee is not at this event....was she invited??? They might as well had Bu88les, Brooke Henderson and Cheyenne play this event so host, Kelly T, Randell Mell and GC could drool.  I liked what I heard from Inbee in her presser. These two are going under the radar....so I'm going with the two Asian chubby's to contend late Sunday.....Bumble Bee & SS Feng. |

This event is feeling different than an usual LPGA event and feeling more like a major should be leading up to play with all the fanfare.....kudos.
Let's hope the course matches major feel and play.....I read that the fairways are not overly tight and the rough isn't overly long.
The Champions Tour has a major too...but there's not much attention of on on GC.

If she pulls this off, she will become the first Korean to ever win the same event three straight years. Best of luck to her! The best part of the interview was when she said she had never won three in a row of anything before, and the interviewer had to remind her about a little Major run she had a couple of years ago.  |

Tony So what are your opinions on course toughness and conditions? The clubhouse is huge are there also accommodations too? Do were you able to decipher if HYP was using a R15 or AeroBurner?.....looks like a yellow Graphite Design shaft. |

Break out a rocking chair for Se Ri (and Christine Song is not here to finish below her) Phil I was going to write similar. Where is Song to save The Queen from a DFL. She played with Lang and HJK.....so she had a group that was nice to play with. So does Se Ri trunk slam tonight or show up tomorrow and play? I bet Se Ri shows up tomorrow and plays and shows HJK that you don't quit just because you have a bad round....and I'm sure there are fans that come out just to see Se Ri play. |

Hmmm....with all the great fanfare leading up to Thurs....IMO......lunch bag let down for a major.
Five par 5's...WTF...they should have made 1 or 2 of those par 5's into tough par 4's
Along with minimal galleries and 76 players at even or better and this major???....is not playing any different nor feeling any different than your standard LPGA event.

So they just did a LPGA update on GC.
They only talked about Brooke shooting -6 and bogeying her last hole a par 5....yet no mention of Jenny Shin who is the leader at -7.
Has Bivens been hired back as a producer for GC/NBC?.....lol.
I'm sure Randell Mell will have an article within 30 minutes slathering over Brooke on the GC site.
I think Whan wants Brooke to apply for a green card and add blue to her red and white.....lol.

Round 1 observations. I felt like the Sisters had a decent start until the afternoon wave got under way, when all of a sudden a lot of low numbers went on the board. I'm a little bummed after all the hype about how tough this course is that the scores seem quite good, like Putt said. I hope it was just a measure of pin positions and we won't have a driving contest this week. Having said that, I was quite happy to see Inbee's decent start at 2 under, and So Yeon, Sei Young, and Hyo Joo also put together strong outings. Obviously Jenny Shin has been steadily improving, and contending at a Major could be on the cards for her this week or soon. Even Q Baek had what at the time seemed like an all right score, although it is at this moment over the cut line. Only Se Ri really imploded, which is too bad, but I have to say not entirely unexpected (alas). Sisters Hwaiting! |

So, I know I predicted Inbee to win this, and I still think she is the heavy favorite compared to everyone else on the leaderboard...but man, if I can't help but think this is Sei Young Kim's first superstar moment. I don't think I can be any more impressed with her.
