Sixty six hundred yards and five par fives. I wonder who that favors. I hope that they have to at least be penalized for wayward shots. That give the skilled players a chance.

The Round One & Two tee times have been posted on the tournament website. The LPGA site has only Round One. I'm surprised that Mi Hyang Lee got stuck with a high profiler like Stacy Lewis at 1:30 PM at #10 on Thursday (that means TV time)...of course, if you're an up-and-coming superstar, then you must expect to be grouped with the best players eventually. They're also grouped with Caroline Hedwall. They'll tee off Friday at 8:20 AM at #1...which is where I'll be at, per my current plans. Westchester CC is known for having the driveable par-4 10th hole when the PGA Tour plays there. The website says the yardage is 296. Will it really be set up that long? Shouldn't the tees be moved up to let them go for it in one?

I don't mind seeing shorter holes, as long as it has risk if you stray.

Lewis, also a KPMG ambassador, must be hot under the collar grouped with MHL & Caro...she'll likely rant about it on Twitter, only to suspend her account hours later on the advice from her agent. How the heck is Xtina able to play with Ko & Ryu? And Aza paired with Ernst & Yoo? Hull gets to play with Bu88bles and Pressel? And didn't we also see a Gulbis, Brooke and Cheyenne group at some event recently too? They typically never play the posted yardage. I think one on the best drivable par 4's is the 10th at Riviera.

Thx....always nice to understand how one qualifies for a major. Yes, because otherwise I couldn't begin to think how Charlotta Sorenstam got in! Evidently it's like the PGA, where some spots are for the teaching and club professionals.

Why isn't Ai-Chan playing? She is playing this week on the JLPGA Tour, her main sponsor Suntory is celebrating the 25th edition of the Suntory Ladies Open and of course she can't miss that if they pay her the big bucks.

I really look forward to watching this one. Westchester is in amazing golf country with both Wykagyl and Winged Foot nearby.
A young cousin of mine will be starting college in the fall at NYU - Purchase just north of the course.

I was at WCC once: the third round (Saturday) of the 1993 Buick Classic. It was the last stop of a golf vacation I was on in nearby Rockland County.
I dug up the pairings sheet from that day...71 out of 156 players made the cut at +5. Tom Kite, Jeff Maggert, and Duffy Waldorf were tied for lead at -3. Vijay Singh was one stroke back, but he won the next day, his first PGA Tour victory. It lists the West Course yardage as 6,779. The par-4 10th was 314.
I have memories of a small handful of players. I definitely remember watching Steve Elkington because of his textbook swing. Roger Maltbie was another guy I spotted...I think he had already started his transition into broadcasting by then. I recall Colin Montgomerie and the red shafts of his Wilson Staff gear. Fred Couples...he’s the only I player I saw hit a drive that reached the very back of the practice range. It seemed like Singh was at the range forever. Ian-Baker Finch…I think I saw him. Lastly, Payne Stewart was there...I have no memories of him, but I must have seen him, because he was impossible to miss!
Going on Saturday meant I missed a few prominent MCs, including Seve B., Mickelson, Daly, Azinger, Strange, Jacobsen, and Crenshaw.
On the back of the pairings sheet is a sticker I must have peeled off my grounds pass after leaving WCC. ‘SAT’ is written on it with a black marker...the date ‘1993 JUNE 7-13’ seems printed on by computer. It also says ‘$40.00 tax included’...’GOOD FOR ANY ONE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT’. I cannot believe I paid $40 for a one-day pass in 1993. Maybe $40 was the cost of a weekly grounds pass, but I was only using Saturday’s ticket? I just can’t remember. I probably bought it in advance, using the phone and snail mail.

I hope this event really takes off. I'd love to see the PGA of America secure some really fantastic future sites/courses and show up the USGA who was never able or willingly to get the gals on some of the premier courses.
And based on where some really important clients are based or where they want to grow strategically we could see some future global host cities....e.g.) Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, some Euro cities, etc, etc.
