Who would have thought that Na Yeon Choi would make the cut. But this year Tournament winners Inbee Park and Mirin Lee would miss it.

Typical Rocket ... after a one-under lift-off, she was spiraling into the ocean at 200 MPH with a double at #15 and a triple at #16 ... but pulled out of it with birdies at 17 and 18.
Annie Park birdied #9 to make the cut on the nose and Uehara needs to do the same at #18 to play tomorrow. UPDATE: Uehara did it, she's in.
Kwak is whack ... five bogeys in six holes on the back nine, but just needs a par at #18 to play tomorrow. UPDATE: She made it.
There are a lot of non-Titleist ball players in women's golf ... no exception here, but Titleist did extremely well among the top-29 on the scoreboard with 23 staffers. The exceptions are NASA (Srixon), MHL (Volvik), Dumbo ( ? - I assumed she was with Titleist), AVD (probably Callaway), Talley (probably Callaway) and Buhai (probably Srixon).
Mirim Lee at the par-5 9th ... there's a garbage dump that crosses the fairway ... and there's junk down the left side of the fairway ... you get the picture.

What is that cap Annie Park is wearing? I see a pair of lips with teeth showing ... no tough sticking out, so it can't be a Rolling Stones endorsement. There's a word below the lips, but I can't make it out, even after I looked at recent pics on Getty.
******
Park's hat is from Foray Golf, a women's golf brand - was wearing a sweater from them too. Someone asked her in a Facebook interview before the tournament.

Another seven birdie round for In Gee Chun. She made a double on her seventieth hole, birdied the eighteenth.
Not a great round for Mi Hyang Lee, but only one off the lead.
Nice minus five come back for Sung Hyun Park.
Yui Kawamoto made the cut because of birdies on two par fives, not bogeys. She is also starting to make more birdies, but still too many bogeys.

Yui fans could have seen her during Round Two on TV Wowow ... someone has posted a few clips from its broadcast this week. Sample from Round Two:
It is the Golf Channel feed with a sprinkling of Japanese players that TV Wowow covers itself. Yui shows up at 57:06 looking at a long birdie putt try at #16, followed by her birdie at #17 ... they also showed earlier putts she had at #14 and 15. They sent a camera around early in the morning to get highlights of NASA and Shibuno. They even threw in highlights of Ai Miyazato winning in 2010. I also found out the identity of TV Wowow's course reporter who I had seen speaking with Min Lee last year about their days on the Symetra tour. It is Mitsuki Katahira, who played 22 rounds on the LPGA tour during 2012-13. Her face looked familiar, but I would not have guessed her name in a million years.

Round 2 Another strong day for In Gee! It looked like it was going to be one of her best of the year until a couple of late mistakes cost her several shots. Still, a 67 is no bad shakes, and she's just four back heading into the weekend. Dumbo Hwaiting! Mi Hyang Lee lipped out a short birdie try on the last or she would have been tied for the lead. She's right in this, though. Also adding intrigue are Jennifer Song and Christina Kim (!) at 8 under, and Jenny Shin at 6 under is still close enough to matter. Sung Hyun Park shot one of the best rounds of her comeback, a 66, to move to within 7. It's really annoying how Mirim Lee has been promptly forgotten after her Major win. Has she ever received a prime pairing since that win so we could watch her on TV? How about a profile or puff piece during the broadcast? I don't think she's even been shown. Meanwhile they are constantly featuring Popov and Shibuno, the two Major winners before Lee. Yes, Lee hasn't been all that good since ANA, and she missed the cut here as well, but she is the most recent Major winner, and it's unfortunately typical how they quickly forgot about the Korean. Inbee was never able to get rolling and missed a rare cut. Go get 'em this weekend, Sisters! Hwaiting!!

Mel Reid's name has been popping up lately. Good for her.

Whoa, In Gee is 10/13 GIR, but hasn't made a single birdie and made bogey or worse on every green she missed. Sigh, one of those days I guess...

Not only that only two Koreans were in the top thirty, Mi Hyang and Sei Young Kim @ 29th. Only two were under par for today, Sei Young Kim -3, Min Seo Kwak -1. Na Yeon Choi even. Mi Hyang Lee has a chance to get under par, oops she just dropped a shot. Help us Mi Hyang, you are our only hope

Did KT know when she was on-camera? GC only showed her when she made her only bogey on 15 and when she just missed her birdie putt on 18. Still, finished at T5 and -6 on the day (including a 5-hole birdie train on the front nine). Should be playing with Nasa in the penultimate group on Sunday!
Her goal should be to stay within the Top 5 and punch her ticket for the US Women's Open.

The day of horror is over for the Koreans. I really don't remember them having a day like today. It happened, so they need to bring their "A" game tomorrow. I just looked at Yui Kawamoto driving stats. Her driving for today was 237 yards. That's probably why she don't birdie many par fives. The two leaders stats were 266 yards.
So she probably tried to hit three woods for her second shots. Which is the toughest club for accuracy, to lay up or go for the green with. So she needs to find a way to increase her driving distance. Because the LPGA Course setups are going to continue to favor the bombers.

I'd be cool with any two of those three. They're all worthy. After much consideration, I won't be heading down there tomorrow. It's a LONG trip and I couldn't find a reasonably priced golf playing option to combine with it at this late date. As they mentioned on the broadcast, the Seaview Pines course is open and GolfNow has a $45 tee time for 2:30 PM tomorrow (w/ cart) ... which becomes $35 because I have a $10 GolfNow credit. I could get there much earlier and wave to players from Route 9 as they approach the 16th green , but I would be on the Pines course by the time Mi Hyang got there. Also, I've never played the Pines course before and with just a four-hour daylight window, I don't want to feel rushed when I'm playing, even with a cart.
Press of Atlantic City didn't post a photo collection for Round Two, but they have one for Round Three:
Samples:
MHL ... umm, that jacket in combo with that skirt is creating some really strange visuals.
The caption is the collection incorrectly identified The Rocket as BadA$$

Go J. Song, go ... but again the little voice inside my head is saying this will NOT end well.
