I'm amazed this tournament is still on. The air quality here in Seattle is terrible; we've been under a pall of smoke for the past four days. In Portland, it's supposedly THREE TIMES as bad.

Somebody noticed ... also, Tuesday's practice round and Wednesday's pro-am were cancelled.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Is the air quality really going to improve that much between Thursday and Friday? Apparently this is the reason the ECP pulled out.

Well, it rained a little here, but the conditions are still terrible. I'm seeing 173 AQI (air quality index) here, which is termed 'unhealthy'. Visibility is at most half a mile. However, they are predicting 36 for Seattle on Thursday, which is healthy. In Portland right now the AQI is 272 aka 'very unhealthy'. That's still a big improvement; on Monday it got as high as 511, which is 'hazardous'. They are predicting 44 for Thursday. According to the chart, Portland is the worst major city IN THE WORLD in air quality, and Seattle is three. This is one time I'm glad not to be #1!

Bummer, looks like Youngin Chun dropped out. Good news for me Gabriela Ruffels is now on the list. I don't remember if she was on the list before.

Portland's air quality is still the worst in the world, and the localized map shows it even worse by the river than downtown. The good news is that it's getting marginally better, but it still like sucking on NINE cigarettes if you are out for an hour. Jennifer Rosales (remember her?) would probably have been OK, but the rest of the ladies will be challenged.

It's never a good sign when you can see the air. I just checked airnow.gov and the latest air quality reading in Portland was at 3am today: 343, which means "Everyone should stay indoors and reduce activity levels." https://www.instagram.com/p/CFOEH-MDHyB

By George, I think you've got it. Just bring in JRo, Reilly Rankin, Beth Bader, Beth Allen, Diana D'Alessio, Dina Ammaccapane and Big Mama Carner ... there would be no shortage of loopers for these conditions.

Greetings from the land of fire, riots, and the most clueless mayor in the entire country. Happy is correct as the fires have sometimes reduced visibility around the area to maybe a block in my neighborhood. This morning add to the mix fog and it's a tough commute. And this weekend they are closing the Interstate Bridge (the bridge for I5 across the Columbia River) for maintenance. What a fun area to be living in at the moment. The air quality really reminds me of when I was in Beijing, it's that bad, except it doesn't smell like charcoal. I love that smell of China. There has been ZERO publicity for this tourney to date so I assume no spectators, and they have also cancelled the volunteering of walking with the scoreboards, so I will not be at the tourney. Breaks my string of 16 in a row. They will have marshals and walking scorers but you have to pay $65 bucks for the privilege so I won't be doing that. No thanks. Hope everyone has had a good year. I am retiring in a couple months and will probably be moving out of the area, so you won't get anymore smart a$$ posts from me for this tourney. The CCP has pretty much dashed my hopes of moving to China, but I'll find somewhere to land. Maybe Fiji. I've just had it with Portland. Let me know if I can answer any Q's on the tourney. Oh, and you can add Soo Yun Kang to the list of smokers. That woman was a chimney. -ol'68 PS- I saw that my girl Austin Ernst won a few weeks back. Brought a big smile to my face, and the LPGA back to my mind.

I thought about adding her, but my memory wasn't 100% sure ... although I recall seeing a rectangular object in her back pocket at Sybase or ShopRite.

Yeah, Kangsy was the only Sister I ever saw light up on the course.
This morning Seattle is at 137, which is actually below 'unhealthy' for the first time in a week! However, thanks to the fog, the visibility is literally a couple of blocks. Last night, however, I could see the radio towers on the far hill (dimly), which is about three miles. Never thought I'd be so happy to see them!

I really hope it clears up to a safe condition. So the fringe golfers can maybe get lucky an earn a decent pay check. Which will help them off set the cost of coming and staying there. Unless their Sponsors pick up the Tab.
