A field of 132 is set to chase ¥200,000,000 starting Thursday at JFE Setonaikai Golf Club. This venue sounds familiar and after looking it up, yep, they played the final stage of JLPGA q-school here last December. It's the Scottish links vibe ... with palm trees. NASA won last year in a runaway at a different course, but she'll be in the desert this week with Shibuno. The cut is top-60 plus ties.
The full list of Sisters here:
Solar Lee
Ji Hee Lee Na Ri Lee Min Young Lee Mi Jeong Jeon Hee Kyung Bae Chae Young Yoon Hana Lee
The big news is that Seon Woo Bae will make her Japan return the following week. If the world hadn't blown up in January, I think she had a 50/50 chance to be the top JLPGer in 2020. The biggest mystery absentee among the non-Koreans is Phoebe Yao, who was first in 2019 q-school and has two career wins. Lu and Tsai of Taiwan are here, why not Yao?
********
The broadcasters cannot be happy about this, but again the JLPGA will have a ton of FREE coverage on YouTube. The URLs aren't posted yet. The sked (Japan time):
Thu. 6 AM - 5:30 PM
Fri. 6 AM - 5:30 PM
Sat. 7 AM - final group hole out
Sun. 7 AM - end of tournament
TV Asahi will have a broadcast for the late parts of Sat. & Sun., but there's no point in watching it that way for us foreigners.

Hinako Shibuno is listed in the field and also on the ANA list. If she play the ANA, maybe they will give the spot to Kotone Hori. Where is Ha Neul Kim hiding?

Thursday's groupings are set and neither Hori is here ... and Sakura Yokomine isn't here, but she might have a good reason. Her first child is due in January. Her husband is her looper sometimes and was her mental coach when they married six years ago.

Early Tuesday practice:
Rory Saso and Megumi Kido
Serena Aoki/Misuzu Narita and Mika Miyazato

The Superstar will tee off at 8:10 AM at #10 with Ayako Kimura and Karen Tsuruoka (I don't know this one).

I think this will be the home of the daily video feeds ... it should kick off on Wednesday at 5 PM EST. The earliest groups will tee off 50 minutes later.

Not sure if I posted this before. This is from q-school last December at the same course ... The Superstar is the first interviewee:

CORRECTION: This is the link for the YouTube broadcasts:
I assume Channel 1 is for the opening tee shots and Channel 2 is for the practice areas.

Just had a chance to check out the game stream. The JLPGA has been reading our SS rants...English graphics on all the names and other pertinent stats!
Even more importantly, The Leader of the Pack T10 through 12 through 3 holes.
Edited to correct my misunderstanding of the "12H" graphic...her score was thru the 12th hole, not 12 holes.

One of the videos is focused on the par-3 16th and The Superstar should be there soon ... currently -1 after playing #10 thru 14.

Solar missed a birdie on 16 from 10 feet with her entire fan club watching. She must have been nervous.

I hope that hideous putt was a mis-read and not a mis-hit. Not a problem, now -2 with six holes remaining.
I looked up Solar's Instagram last week and she had 1,005 followers and hadn't posted anything since June 9. She now has 1,006 followers. It's a strange world ... she fights like hell in anonymity while we're supposed to be impressed by The New Ko sending a message to the ANA Inspiration.

It's a strange world ... she fights like hell in anonymity while we're supposed to be impressed by The New Ko sending a message to the ANA Inspiration. Not sure what your point is -- that we should be according a journeyman player the same amount of respect and attention as the world #1 and two-time Major winner? Jin Young certainly didn't have anything handed to her -- her dad is an ex-boxer, not the heir to the Samsung fortune. Look at it this way -- for being #1, Ko doesn't get 1/10th the attention from the US golf media of Maria Fassi or some of the recent college stars like Ruffels. Now that's what I call hard to understand. Compare how they treat the men's #1 vs. the rest of the top men to see just how shockingly deficient her coverage really is.
