With the Ryder Cup now postponed to next year the rotation between it and the Presidents Cup will return to what it was before 9/11. One wonders if that will impact the Solheim Cup and the International Crown as well.www.bbc.com/sport/golf/53342057Kevin

According to the R&A, the Women’s British Open will enforce strict health and safety protocols, including the creation of a “bio secure zone.” Only personnel essential to the championship’s onsite operations, namely players, caddies, officials, and staging staff, will be inside the zone with their movements for the week limited to the golf course and designated secure hotel. All personnel will be required to return a negative COVID-19 test from an authorized testing center and will be subject to further daily temperature checks and rigorous protocols designed to maintain the integrity of the zone and the health of those within it. I'm just hoping that royal and ancient first tee starter will be there to come up with some new nicknames for the Korean players.

I started watching Game 3 of the '77 World Series on YouTube ... then I noticed there was a LIVE broadcast of a Mets intrasquad game (Blue vs. White) on YouTube, so I switched over to it ... P.U. Citi Field is empty and they're piping in fake noise. This will continue when the regular season starts so that each dugout won't be able to hear the discussions in the opposing dugout ... in order to protect the integrity of game. Uh, since when?!
I'm going back to the '77 WS. Meanwhile, sanctimonious baseball fans can chew over these observations from 50 years ago:
I SPY
In Washington for a game against the Senators, Manager Charlie Metro of the Kansas City Royals saw something unsettling: a TV camera and cameraman in the deep center-field mezzanine boxes in Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium. The camera was not there for the game telecast, and Metro did not believe it was there to help the Senators analyze their batting problems on film the next day. No siree, Metro charged the camera was there to steal the signs of the Kansas City catcher. "I've seen quite a few things in my time," he says, "and I make it a practice when I come to a ball park to look around and check things out. I had no idea Washington was using a camera. I just was looking around and saw it." Metro protested the game early, but his protest became moot after Kansas City won.
Metro, who says that other spy cameras are being used in the majors, has asked American League President Joe Cronin for a ruling. "They had one in Chicago when I was with the Cubs," Metro admits. "It was a closed-circuit camera, and its receiver was kept in a little room behind the Cub dugout that was always locked until the game started. The picture was so clear you could see the cuticle on the catcher's fingernails." Metro claims that he had the camera removed when he became head coach. "I didn't like the device," he says, "and besides, our batters were so poor they couldn't hit the ball even if they knew it was coming. Once when we were using the camera against the Cards, they beat us a doubleheader, 9-0 and 11-0."

What are the chances of Korean, Thai, and other foreign players coming in for the Ohio tournaments, I wonder? Seems like they'd avoid them (if not already staying in US)? Much more likely they'd go to UK for the first major later in August. And when will LPGA restart the Rolex rankings data if a lot of players don't show up in Ohio?

Much more likely they'd go to UK for the first major later in August. And when will LPGA restart the Rolex rankings data if a lot of players don't show up in Ohio? In Gee has come over. She was apparently at Lancaster Country Club yesterday. Didn't they decide to play the OrangeLife KLPGA vs. LPGA challenge next month? That would encourage a number of top Korean LPGA golfers to stay in Korea I would think. Looked it up: the LPGAers in the OrangeLife field are: Inbee, Jeongeun Lee (presumably 6, although no number was given), Hyo Joo Kim, So Yeon Ryu, MJ Hur, Eun Hee Ji, Mi Hyang Lee, and Na Yeon Choi. Notably absent: Jin Young Ko, Sung Hyun Park, and Sei Young Kim.

29 of the 30 MLB teams will get to play their home games in this abbreviated season in their own ball parks. The lone exception of course are the Blue Jays, who now have to scramble to find a suitable home away from home south of the border within the next week and a half. Canada's Minister of Immigration and Citizenship Services deemed the risk of having players crisscrossing the border too great, especially since Canada managed to flatten the curve and we...well, let's not go into that discussion right now.www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29488579/blue-jays-not-allowed-play-games-canadaKevin
