The broadcast has mixed in a few interviews with JLPGA rookie Pro-Test "volunteers" who are standard bearers, scoreboard updaters, etc. One of them had a non-Japanese name...via an interpreter, she answered questions in broken English, saying her idol is Teresa Lu...that was helpful, the interviewee was Yu Ling Hsieh. She played the big tour in 2013, then got demoted to the minors where she has remained.

JY Shin lipped out an 18-incher for par at #1, but made a shorter tap-in birdie at the par-5 2nd hole.
*******
They interviewed another rookie volunteer with an interpreter...the player answered in halting English...it was Ji-Young Lee, aka Ji Young Lee 3 on the KLPGA website (played the Dream Tour last year).

That number five hole pin placement were no picnic either. They just flashed a stat on the par-4 5th hole...it is averaging about 4.5 strokes for Round Three...it's listed at 400 yards, but the fairway looks narrow and zig-zaggy...throw in the water on the right and yeah, it's tough. Ugh, Jae Eun Chung just made bogey there to fall to -4...she showed up in pink pajama bottoms, but it looks good on her. I really want her to win on this tour and I think she's good enough to do it one day. I think it was in 2015 when she was constantly puddle jumping between the JLPGA and KLPGA like a crazy woman.
Holy moly, Koiwai just hit an uphill putt at 90 MPH at #5 and it slammed off the back of the cup, leaving her a tap-in par. Is she awesome?!

This green on the par-5 8th is a piece of work. Jae Eun Chung (pajama bottoms removed) chipped the ball as her birdie putt and just made the par saver putt. Earlier, Ai Suzuki tried to putt over the hump in front of the pin, but it was too soft and the ball rolled back to her for a longer putt...which she blasted past the hole...finished with a triple-8.
Queen Shiho has a lot of old-age body English after many of her shots, but she can still score.
UPDATE: Shin just blew an easy birdie putt at #8, remains Even for the day. She's giving plenty of chances for the other players to catch her, but I'm not sure if they're good enough.

Actually Ai Suzuki third shot onto the par five came up a yard short of being a birdie putt. It rolled back down to the fairway. Then her chip rolled back down to her. I can understand why she got frustrated and blew her sixth shot ... putt passed the hole.

Ji Hee Lee did an interview and signed autographs afterward. Not much of a title defense at -2, ten shots back.
They don't play many four-rounders on this tour...someone needs to tell these players the definition of "Saturday is Moving Day!" Shin is only -1 thru 11 today, but no one else has caught fire.
I don't care for Shin, but I love watching her takeaway...from behind, the clubhead starts slightly outside the line...and what does that mean if golf is a game of opposites? A: the downswing is on the inside, which is what we hacker golfers desperately need to do! Just replace that swing thought for the fifty others already in your head!

The rain was gone for a while, but it's back with a vengeance.
This is ridiculous...Shin just drained a putt from another prefecture at the par-3 13th hole (200 yards), now -14. Jae Eun Chun is the best of the chasers...I guess you need a Korean to beat a Korean. Uh oh, I'm not sure if Shin is OB-left on her drive at the par-4 14th...she just hit a provisional...finished the hole with a double, back to -12. Meanwhile, Chung (pajama pants back on) just made another birdie at #15, now three back.
They had an interview with The Hulk via interpreter and she was her usual bubbly self...but the stream's sound was not working.
Kotono Kozuma stunk (79) but she had an endless line of autograph seekers...the weather is just rotten, but there is a big turnout. Hye Rim looks good today, but finished the day -2 overall...she should be playing better on this tour. Ugh, 2:50 AM and I've seen enough of this biblical deluge...I wonder if this weather is traveling east to Korea.

I only watched about three hours, but is amazed how well that course drains. Also unless I missed it there were no lift clean and place, like the LPGA would do. Also the KLPGA did in their last Major I believe. Unless Jiyai stumbles, I don't see anyone passing her. Because the course setup is the way a Major should be. Are you listening Evian.

Go Jiyai!
Such a great player and great person. Super friendly and charitable. Took care of her siblings after her mother died in a car crash. The only Sister with a record contract (!). The first Korean to ever reach #1 in the world. The only player in the world with double digit wins on the LPGA, KLPGA and JLPGA. Winningest player in history on the KLPGA with 21 wins.

I guess you can add the Bad Weather Queen, to Jiyai "Final Round Queen" nickname. She got off the a quick start and never looked back. A great round of golf on that course and under those conditions.

JiYai turned the clock back from 2018 to 2009; 3 wins and leads JLPGA in official money.
