Britney Yada and Jessica Wallace. How do you know Jessica Wallace? I know her because she's a local gal playing out of Redwoods Golf Club......a really nice and picturesque course with a really strong jr. program. Saw her back in 2011 at Redwoods and chatted with Jessica on the green for 10 minutes before teeing off....a really nice young lady. At the 19th hole...I saw Sue Kim walk in...I said hi...she looked and kept walking. Jessica and her brother both practice at the same golf course( The Raven) where I practice. I followed her at the first Symetra Tour event at Longbow. I was surprised that her brother did not caddie for her. She had no caddie and carried her bag. She was three under the first round, but has not scored well since then. Britney works at a course that I play.

First-aid for mr3putt: Thx....LUV The Rocket!! At WRX...a guy said Kylie is now looping for someone else and HYP has a new loop.....from social media...it seemed like HYP and Kylie were/are friends too. If I find more info....I'll pass it on....maybe Dean Herdin's on HYP's bag? I guess The Dragon Lady got to HYP and told her to fire Kylie for HYP's mediocre play this year.

I refuse to be one (so far)...I prefer to practice and work on swing improvements that can't be bought off a shelf. I think I made excellent progress yesterday during my first trip to the range of 2015. Only took the 5 thru 9 irons with me...drum roll...MacGregor M565 V-Foil w/ 4.5 Rifle steel. Ya....I'm an indian vs. the arrow guy too....in over 4 decades playing golf I've only had 6 full set of irons (recent purchase last month) and two 1/2 set mixed in.....I also believe it's skill and pure ball striking that matters....look at how InBee can be a world beater with a swing that has no visible speed. Too funny.....since the 60's/70's I rarely see any MacGregor clubs...yet just two weeks ago....a guy joined our group at Redwoods with a set of V Foils....I didn't know they are forged. It's pretty rare to see 4.5's at any retailers.

Ya...Darren was talked about a few years back...but no longer. There are quite a few pros that live in Phoenix...you ever bump into the likes of Ai-Chan, Paige Mackenzie, Blumenherst, Blair O'Neil, Cheyenne, etc. Have you ever attended a Cactus tour event?.....did the Grasshopper tour fold?.....I know there was rife between the two tours. Is it just too stupid hot to walk 18 in the summer?

Round 2 It's hard to complain about such a great leaderboard! The Sisters have really done well so far this week. Leading the way for a second day is Inky. She didn't duplicated her 65 from day one, but give her credit that she followed that great round with a pretty good one to maintain a share of the lead. Sei Young Kim might have slipped at the ANA, but she is still fearless on the golf course. Her second straight 67 to grab a share. Don't look now, but Inbee is lurking three back! Inbee has played well on this course without winning, but she is definitely capable of turning that around! Call out to Hee Young Park for shooting a great 67 to rocket up the leaderboard, and Hee Kyung Seo, who looked like she was ready to cash it in, but rallied with a 69 to make the cut. Kudos also to Mirim Lee, NYC, Chella Choi and Jenny Shin, who are all right in this. Alas, So Yeon Ryu did not have a great day, nor did Hyo Joo Kim. But Kim is still in the top 20, and Ryu managed to limit the damage. Same not said for Q Baek, who was sailing along until a triple bogey halfway through her round completely did her in. Bummer. One more call out to amateur So Young Lee, tied for 11th after a 69. GO SISTERS!!! Fighting! Pix IK Kim Sei Young Kim

I ran into Ai Miyazato at the Legacy Golf Resort. She was a student of " Vision 54" taught by Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriot. They let me watch Ai practice during one of their sessions. It was very interesting. I don't believe that Ai still work with them. They have also taken their clinic to Longbow Golf Course. I believe Ai still have her Towne House at the Legacy.
I checked on the Cactus Tour. It is very unorganized.

Round 3 has started...The Hulk is +2 on her first nine holes, +7 overall, T-66. This is surprising...such a powerful ball striker on the KLGPA; she could hit high irons to tucked pins, which most of her competitors couldn't do. I hope she's not trying to hit high balls AGAINST those Hawaii winds. Inky the Aeroburner and Paula Reto with Ping bling...I don't know what that orange detailing means...a new model? mr3putt: I read a really good article about the history of MacGregor a couple of years...can't remember where, might have online at Golfweek. In between spurts of greatness, it had some problems management-wise and product quality-wise. I recall a Tom Weiskopf interview where he said Jack Nicklaus played with a handicap in the '70s...his MacGregor ball was garbage and the short irons in his set were no good (Tom knew this first-hand because he played the same irons). From 2000 to 2010, MacGregor put out some good stuff, but it was too late, all the big established brands of today had blown by them for good. Even Greg Norman using their latest blades to get a 54-hole lead at the 2008 B.O. couldn't stop the slide. In addition to the M565s, I also have a VIP Tourney V-Foil 56/10 wedge w/ S300 T/T DG shaft. We're lucky to have Ebay to see what these cool antiques looked like...those 1025 blade sets had some nice artistry and the M675 blades were quite unique. Wisely, I made a hard copy of the M565 specs from MacGregor's website before it was shutdown. But, I must not damage my M565s...forget about finding replacement 4.5 shafts...I don't think the Royal Precision Co. exists anymore. Is Project X the new name for Royal Precision? After looking at the latest press release on their website, it appears they have control of the True Temper brand, too. Regarding a Rifle shaft, their website shows a 4.0 and a 5.0. From what I've read elsewhere, a 4.5 might be the equivalent of an R300 T/T DG today. UPDATE: Found these two articles: golfweek.com/news/2009/dec/14/macgregor-demise-american-classic/golfweek.com/news/2009/nov/25/looking-back-macgregors-golf-balls/

Round 3 And the hits just keep coming! Wow, another day, another fantastic display by the Sisters. Great stuff! IK Kim, Sei Young Kim and Inbee Park have been close all week, and they continued their battle on Friday. As the day ends, Sei Young has the upper hand by a shot over Inky and two over Inbee, but boy, it's still close. Any one of those three could be walking away with the trophy tomorrow. Indeed, Inky was tied with Sei Young until the final hole, which she bogied. Sei Young has managed to be the 54 hole leader now two events in a row. Inky has a chance for a redemption few would have seen coming at the start of the week. And Inbee can put herself into position to take another run at Ko next week. Ought to be exciting on the final day! Props to Jenny Shin four back and Chella Choi five back. Both could make this their first win with a powerful final round. Hyo Joo has crept to 8th, tied with Mirim Lee, who along with NYC let her chance to win slip away today. And the am So Young Lee still has a good chance for a top ten. Go Sisters!!!! HWAITING! Inky has always been one of my favorites, and I'll be pulling for her tomorrow, but it is really painful to watch her play. If she is half as miserable as she appears, it's amazing she's still in the game.

Ya, I use to find the odd MacGregor ball back in the 60's and 70's but had no inclination to play them. Too funny, I played yesterday and one guy was using an old Nike 3 iron that I had never seen before as his driving iron. It's was shafted with a Rifle. We got talking and I said.....because Rifle is under the TT umbrella....I think it's brand got phased out in favor of the Project X branding. He said....not quite.....TT bought Royal Precision which sold Rifle's. Yes....I saw on the internet that 4.5 Rifle's are considered 'regular' shafts. Played with my JetSpeed with the stock stiff shaft yesterday....I hit it pretty well....I guess some new technology does work....lol....the young guys were getting upset that the senator was keeping up and at times hitting past the flat bellies. I'm choking up about an inch....I don't care for the 46" shaft.....but the other guys are telling me not to chop off 1" cause I'm hitting it well....but I think one less inch would still help me hit it just a bit more pure.....I'll wait a month and then decide. I want to chop some off my TM Stage 2 3 FW HL ....it plays long at 43.25"......and add a bit to my Adams Speedline S hybrids that play short.

I know the pro hits the ball, but is TMac (Annika's old loop) having this much positive influence on IK Kim's game? I saw TMac in 2010 in Portland......I'm pretty sure he was on Momoko's bag's and then left to Inky's bag later that season when she won Lorena's event. I thought he had retired too...but Terry said he was too young to sit at home.
I wonder why he has been absent from tour for the last few years?
It wouldn't surprise me if The Dragon Lady has put a bug in his year to come to The Dark Side and loop for Lydia.

I think Inbee might pull this off.....assuming she has a hot putter.....otherwise I think it's Sei Young Kim with the trophy. If the wind keeps howling...I think -12 wins and no lower than -14.
I like how the 18th green plays hard and shots without spin have no chance of holding.
The S. Korean am is playing well....a soon to be member of the Korean Reign of Terror team.
WTF....The Rocket shoots a brilliant 67 on Thursday to make the cut...then implodes yesterday with the highest round with an 80....ugh. Kylie Pratt is on rookie's Kelly Shon's bag.

I hope they don't falter and get passed up like they did the last two tournaments.
Speaking of Rocket, it is very hard to predict what she will do. I wonder if she just get annoyed with how things are going, and don't focus. She got an eight on a par three. That is very hard to do unless you don't care.
Anyway a great tournament so far by the "Sisters"

Holy moly, what a bizarre ending to this tournament! And consider that this is the SECOND time Sei Young Kim won a tournament with multiple holeouts in the final round (she won the Hanwha Classic on the KLPGA with two eagle holeouts, including a hole-in-one, in the final ten holes, then won in a playoff).
I was actually watching this on a flight back home from the East Coast. Pretty cool way to watch it with a leaderboard full of Sisters! First we had Hyo Joo Kim make a great run up the leaderboard, but alas she faltered. Chella Choi also seemed to be one birdie away from really contending, but couldn't make it.
So it came down to IK, Inbee and Sei Young; nail biting all the way. IK struggled on the back nine but somehow made clutch par after clutch par. Inbee had several birdie putts she would normally make, but somehow she missed.
And so they were all tied with two to play. Inbee and Sei Young both hit crummy approaches on 17, while IK had a makeable birdie. Would this be the moment Inky finally sealed the deal?
No! Inbee hits from a tough sand lie then makes a brilliant par save from 20 feet. Kim two putts from 80 feet. And Inky not only misses her birdie, she misses the par. ARGH! Bummer for IK, but you have to give props to the other two for making par like that.
Then Sei Young hits a drive on 18 that keeps rolling and rolling right into the drink. Park almost does the same thing, but stays dry. Advantage Inbee?
Sei Young proceeds to nearly hit it into the water again, but lands just off the green. Inbee hits a masterful 60 foot birdie try that stops inches from going in. Sei Young has to chip it in. And she does! Great reaction from her.
But then Kim does it again during the playoff, this time holing out for eagle from 154 yards. She played 18 twice and never putted once! Unbelievable.
I have a feeling they'll be talking about this one for a long time. Congrats to all three ladies, and special congrats to Sei Young on her second LPGA win of 2015!
