Hummmm, I was going to start a thread about Portland but you beat me to it by like 4 minutes. This will be my 16th year carrying the sign board. Requested first off first tee again every day, but we have a new coordinator of the boards this year at Oregon Junior Golf, so we’ll see how it goes. Soccer season starts right around the corner, too, and because of it, I am going to have to skip Saturday to ref a double header up at Woodland HS at 11am. But I’ll be around, probably asleep over by hole 15.
Really, really have not been following any LPGA at all lately. The one exception was the Scottish Women’s Open, where I went over to watch the men’s Scottish Open, played on the same Gullane Course the ladies did two weeks later. Have a friend who lives a half block away from Gullane GC, so went over to watch the boys and then watched the goils on TV two weeks later. Cringed, watching the women almost always go over the greens there. I had a chance to play the Gullane course right before the men’s Open and it was rock hard. But the girls just kept pitching them up there….and over. Seems like they didn’t learn to play Links golf.
The boys are a bit more interesting to watch than goils, my first time seeing a men’s tourney, mainly because they all could just hit it out of site, and everyone could scramble like no one’s business, when in jail. Just amazingly good. Did see Branden Stone shoot a course record 60 to win the tourney and tie the European Tour lowest last round ever. Missed a 6 footer for the 59. Also found out Patrick Reed is a real cool guy and Rickey Fowler is a jerk.
One last thing, what pic hosting site does everyone use now that PhotoBucket turned to the dark side? I’ll try not to be so negative this year on what I know will be the slow pace of play. (BTW- We did Gullane in 2hours 24 minutes)
