Yealimi Noh's dream summer came to an end at Round of 32; she lost in 23 holes.
She hasn't been sharp and her will can only carry her this far.

Match play is chaotic and random; not a good way to determine a national champion. The traditional four rounds stroke play is tried and proven; USGA should reconsider their format. HELL NO!!! We see enough four-rounders elsewhere, and the USGA doesn't need to worry about TV ratings and the "wrong" players being eliminated early. You need to attend one of these in person, especially the second round of medal play where the day usually ends with a group of players fighting like animals for a small number of match play spots. The first round matches are also must-see to catch some big upsets...like in 2016 when Muni won the 64th match play spot in the playoff and then beat #1 Mariel Galdiano in 22 holes. I assume the Facebook video of that match in the 2016 USWA thread still works. I'll definitely hit the 2021 USWA...future sked: 2019: Westpoint, Miss. 2020: Rockville, MD 2021: Rye, NY ******** Jiwon Jeon is 1-up thru 11 holes against... ...Sierra Brooks. FS1 is not showing this match, but I assume they'll switch to it later. UPDATE: They just showed Jeon go 2-up in her match...said she will attend U. of Alabama in the fall.

Kristen Gillman or Lauren Stephenson is my pick to win it all.

Yealimi has probably played more golf in the past month than any other amateur golfer in the world. I'm not surprised she's tired. Then, her opponent dragged her through a long playoff besides.
Ah well, pretty much no one I care about in the field anymore...

The match between Lucy Li and Kristen Gillman will be a battle of girl wonders; Lucy qualified for USWO at 11 and Kristen won US Women's Amateur at 14.

Lucy Li missed a 3 footer for bogey at 19th hole to lose the match; only her 2nd bogey of her entire match plays.
