The technical workers came into an agreement just in time for this tournament. How do you know they settled on a contract?.....I FF through my recording today. One would think the strike/walk-out of workers would put a HUGE strain on the Tiger Show at Torrey and they also have a crew all week at the PGA Merchandise show too. www.golfdigest.com/story/golf-channel-and-union-representing-striking-video-audio-workers-agree-to-new-contract-end-labor-disputeAccording to the above, the strike is over but the techs aren't coming back until Feb. 5. But GC shouldn't have a problem staffing events since there are no picket lines to cross. The Eldrick Show wouldn't be impacted anyway since that event uses CBS techs according to the article. I thought the coverage was good, with Pro Tracer and lots of player interviews, which hasn't been typical for LPGA events. Grant Boone > Whit Watson.

Play called for the day due to high winds. Exactly the same forecast for tomorrow as well.

Who did So Yeon piss off at The Golf Channel to get snubbed on the "feature" group coverage? They showed 2 of her shots on Thursday, and we didn't see her hit a shot until the last few minutes of the telecast today. 'Plenty of Michelle and Brittany, though.

I noticed that also, so I stop watching it. A good finish on back nine today, got her to minus one.

Amy Yang representing!
Who is Hsu? By the way I had no idea the name Hsu was pronounced as "shi". I know people named Hsu, they all say "Soo".

A decent tournament for So Yeon after the one over par start. Good front nine, but could not gain any ground on the back nine. Two birdies and two bogeys.. Hit fifteen greens, but had thirty one putts. Missed top ten by one. Not a great start, but not a bad start either.

I picked up the replay on JTBC Golf when the leaders were around the 12th to 14th holes...and there was a lot of standing around...talk about a bunch of turtles. That was smart idea having temporary lights ready at #18. Nice win by Bam Bam, the ultimate tension-free "feel" player...the complete opposite of Michelle Wie, who plays the game like she's swathed in chains. A video at lpga.com has Ron Sirak saying MW might have a "big breakout monumental monster year" in 2018 ... aigoo, someone get a towel and wipe the oatmeal off his chin. At least Tiff Chan made the cut, so I won't look like a dope until maybe next month. Lousy week for Inky...I had assumed all along that she skipped this event until I saw her name on the scoreboard Thursday. She probably regrets showing up. Hsu has been respectable on the LPGA, but was this her first time on U.S. TV? I don't remember seeing her before on the tube. I remember seeing her in person tee off in a practice round at the Seaview with S.C. Cheng. How long can the SS Feng remain #1 with such a mediocre driving game? Players get criticized for "chasing distance" with off-season changes, but in her case she has nothing to lose. TAIWAN > CHINA

Shanshan was 21st in total driving last year, one spot below Amy Yang, and several spots ahead of Lexi and Sung Hyun. She was 12th in ballstriking. Distance off the tee is overrated.

I take back my "turtles" comment about the ladies. I was out yesterday and I'm reading this morning about that clown JB Holmes taking 4 min. and 10 seconds before hitting a lay up at Torrey Pines. Plus, he was in the final group and they took six hours!

TAIWAN > CHINAYes....Jenny Money's lack of club head speed really showed up in the stats during the event on Sunday. Her ball speed was any where from 135-139 mph...let's divide it by a smash factor of 1.47 and were getting a SS of 92-95 mph. Consider a snip hook on 16 and she was left with a hybrid from long & thick Bermuda into a tough pin position and she was level 8 TOAST....that will always hurt against the more powerful skilled pros. But we've never expected chubby's like SS Feng & Winbee to smash the ball...they are able to win because they aren't MENTAL MIDGETS.
