Should we look forward to or dread Fox's coverage? I wasn't impressed with their handling of Mens' US Open to say the least. It didn't help that it was played on an ugly course (a pockmark on our beautiful coast).

There'll be bonus coverage online at usga.org. Morning wave coverage will be streamed from 10am-Noon EDT Thursday and Friday and then while the main coverage is on TV there will also be online coverage of a feature group streaming from 2-7pm EDT Thursday and Friday and 2-6pm EDT Saturday and Sunday.

I was pleasantly surprised by the preview show I watched tonight. Unlike when ESPN handles it, they actually talked up a Korean! In fact, they said Inbee was the player to beat and even interviewed her (NYC and So Yeon also made appearances). Not only that, but they were fairly realistic about Michelle's chances to defend, which really surprised me.
So I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yoon Kyung Heo has withdrawn due to an ankle injury. Ally McDonald is now in the field.

It didn't help that it was played on an ugly course (a pockmark on our beautiful coast). FOX will be brutal again....maybe even worse than the USO. Chambers is actually a pretty course.....I don't think you'd think it was ugly if you saw or played Chambers.....it's unique for the typical forested parkland PNW courses. The USGA baked it out to make it play hard and unpredictable.....due to an extremely hot spring/summer....most courses are brown, hard and baked. I been able to hit some drives 290/300 yds and 7 irons up to 175 yds.....due to roll out of a baked course.......distances like this are pretty well uncommon for me in the PNW. Last year I wa still getting the odd mud ball in mid June. Yet yesterday, I played on a course that has been heavily watered without much roll out and I was able to get pitch mark from shots 50/60 yds....but this course condition is rare nowadays....I'm kinda surprised they watered so much......considering the course likely struggles to break even so why spend money on so much water.

GC inundates us with 24/7 Live from _______ a men's major....yet we get virtually no previews on a women's major except for a few tidbits on Golf Central. It would be nice to see GC preview the course....typically they do a full 18 hole review with Frank Nobilo going out to some holes to discuss some features of the hole. Oh wait....we're talking about women's golf.....we are lucky to receive 18 hrs of USWO coverage. As I've said before....I put a blame to women themselves why women's golf is not popular. When I was downtown for the women's World Cup final......half the fans were female....and I saw many group of all female fans.....this is pretty well nonexistent at any women's golf events.

I saw a half an hour preview on Fox Sports 1 (I think) yesterday. There's an hour long one tonight, nightly recaps of the action during the week, AND a wrap at the end of the week. I'd say they are doing a decent job of giving the ladies coverage.
Look in your TV's channel guide, you should be able to find the exact times and stations. It was listed under '2015 US Women's Open' on tivo, which put it near the top of the golf programming (no, they didn't put it under 'U', it's under '2').

I found this bit online about the Paul Fusco/Sei Young Kim flap. It quotes Dean Herden, the caddie who has made a career of carrying the bag for top Korean golfers, including Jiyai Shin, So Yeon Ryu and Hee Kyung Seo: Herden on Fusco removalA fellow caddie Dean Herden said he had talked to Fusco on the phone about the incident and was “disgusted” by the USGA’s banishment of the caddie. “He told me he went to the office to check on things and get some information,” Herden said. “On the wall of the office he noticed the pin locations on the wall. “On the LPGA Tour it’s common knowledge we get the pins given to us the night before. Just as Paul took a quick photo of it, a gentleman came in and asked what are you doing? He said: ‘I took a photo of the pins.’ “The man said: ‘You’re not allowed to do that.’” Herden said Fusco was asked to delete the pictures from his phone and he did so in front of the official, then introduced himself and after a short chat headed to the driving range. “About an hour later a gentleman for the USGA with a security guard walked to the driving range and there in front of Kim requested his caddie credentials and to leave the property – on the spot, on the driving range,” said Herden. “No class, absolutely no class at all, in front of his boss,” added Herden. “It’s disgusting the way that they’re treating him.” Herden said the USGA should rethink their own practice about pin locations. “The rule itself should be changed,” Herden said. “Why is the morning group disadvantaged to an afternoon group, who have all morning to look at the pins?”

I think Paul may have caddied in previous USO?USWO and would know that layout and pin placements don't get disclosed until the day of play. So Paul taking pictures....IMO...demonstrates 'intent' to obtain a competitive advantage. I undecided on the severity of the punishment. Let's see what Paul says after the USWO. Paul should not have talked to anyone about the incident....now it's getting to be public knowlwdge...and we all know that EVERYTHING posted in cyber space is TRUE....lol.

WTF The simpletons at GC show only 7 minutes of USWO coverage 15 minutes into Golf Central....and they even have a Bill Murray story.....ANOTHER WTF.
The Open Championship starts next week and we'll see 24/7 Open stuff starting on Monday.
With the biggest event in women's golf starting tomorrow and this is all we see...Yanks really have no interest growing women's golf.....lol....God Bless America....lol.
And how about that gem, Altered Course, GC has developed.
Shut it down GC and start again.

Ya....listed just before coverage...thx.
Looks like the USGA has set the course up fairly long......6353 yds for a par 70....with elevation changes and wet conditions......6500 yds would have been ideal to beat the gals up.....I think the USGA is being kind for Thurs/Fri to weed out the weaker players for hopefully tougher conditions on the weekend.....seen some hybrids/FW's into par 4's. They've had rain...but the greens still look fast with slope....speed is critical.
The course looks beautiful....bent grass is always great....my fav surface....but it's rare out in the PNW. TV doesn't capture it....nice elevation changes.
Looks like Herdin is on Chun's bag....he and The Rock are big boys.
