That's a crazy amount of players that bailed after one day. Looks the The Mini rocket is headed back to the KLPGA in 2016....oh well...at least I'll get to fanboy her in Van City this year. I was surprised that she went to Q School, because of her limited success on the KLPGA. However maybe she will have that one great round like Perrine Delacour. That would be a start. The one time that I saw her play. She seemed to be talented enough.

www.njsga.org/_media/6115info.pdfThe above link has the groups and starting times for the Galloway, NJ qualifier on Mon., June 1. I'm surprised that Natalie Gulbis is group with two unknows...usually they put the experienced pros together and there are enough of them here. Other familiar names are Castrale, Popov, Tan, Sergas, Welch, Stahle, MS Kwak, Doris Chen, and Annie Park.

Assuming it's the same Nicole Zhang from Calgary....looks like she's now residing in Palm Springs.....I saw her at a Cdn event in 2012.

I think the Mini Rocket went to Q School (and caught lightening in a bottle) so she could keep HYP company on tour....they seem to have fun together....then again...how could one not have fun with HYP.

Unless I am missing something, this is Se Ri's final shot in the US Open. Barring of course, a return to form. I doubt the telecast will even mention it.
There is the possibility of a special invitation courtesy of the USGA.

There is the possibility of a special invitation courtesy of the USGA. I presume you meant that this could be her final Open this year barring a return to form, and yes I would agree with you that the flag-wavers at Fox aren't likely to mention her unless she's in contention. She probably had to go through a sectional to get in the field for the first time in 1997 but that may have been the only time she's had to do so. Her win in '98 (she likely got in via her LPGA Championship win several weeks earlier) gave her a 10 year exemption, while it's a five year exemption for winning one of the other majors, the last of which was in 2006. From 2012 on her eligibility has come from her position in the previous year's money list, and given her current standing (#92) she would have to make some serious coin to be exempt for 2016 and avoid having to go to a sectional.Kevin

I just spoke to a USGA official who is friends with one of my brothers. He is not at the top but he seems to know what is going on. He thinks Se Ri will be given a special exemption in 2016 because it will be her final year and her win in Wisconsin was groundbreaking. He also said none of Se Ri's management team has contacted the USGA yet about next year.
I hope she makes it because it will cap off my trip to San Jose to see Se Ri walk up the 18th fairway one last time. I expect the tributes to Se Ri will start to pour in as she finalizes her plans.

Today's NJ qualifier was delayed by rain and suspended for darkness...will finish early tomorrow AM. The top-2 scores qualify and the next 2 will be alternates. If the top three players below foul up badly on their last few holes, then Kwak might sneak in to qualify, but I wouldn't bet on it. Pos. Player City/State Today Hole Total R1 R2 Total 1 Gulbis, Natalie Henderson, Nev. +2 15* -3 66 T2 Wagner (a), Samantha Orlando, Fla. Even 17 -1 70 T2 Srisawang, Nontaya Thailand +2 16 -1 68 4 Kwak, Min Seo Berkeley Lake, Ga. -1 F +1 73 70 143 5 Popov, Sophia Naples, Fla. +1 F +2 72 72 144 6 Chen (a), Doris Bradenton, Fla. +3 F +3 71 74 145 7 Grehan, Megan Hobe Sound, Fla. +1 F +4 74 72 146 All scores so far: ghintpp.com/njsga/TPPOnlineScoring/ResultsStroke.aspx?id=325I'm surprised Kelly Tan WD after shooting a 72 in the AM. Did not play any holes for her second eighteen...maybe she thought getting to Canada ASAP was a better use of her time than trying to post a really low score in the afternoon.

Hopefully Gulbis hangs on...she will be busy travelling on Tues to make it to her pro-am on Wed......she should call TW or Rory to see if she can borrow their private jet....oooops...no go...Gulbis is TMaG and not on Team Dark Side.
Looks like 1/2 the field WD's after rd one....I can't believe how so many continue to waste other people's money chasing their pipe dream(s).....I wonder if they receive free guidance from Mark Burk?

Mark Burk is a role model. He has never worked a day in his life and convinced the Golf Channel to stoop to an all time low. Pipe Dreams makes Keeping up with the Kardashian look like Masterpiece Theater.

Good for Natalie. I read the 66 is a course record. Hard to believe that she is 32 years old.
