Looks like Alison might be slotted into the 1st group out on hole 1 Tuesday morning. Dad is looping.....so I assume he's out charting the course today. I think he lives in a suburb north of LA and Goose Creek is west of LA. There are a lot of qualifiers....lots of gals of Asian descent. Looks like it's not cool to golf for the white faced American teens who would rather hang at the mall. The only good notables I see are Jennifer Rosales and Bethany Wu (#10 ranked Am). Alison is a fav to advanced....but obviously no guarantee with so many players....many can catch lightening in a bottle. www.womensgolf.org/pdf/15may19_pairings1.pdf

Because I'm not seeing your point in the other qualifiers posted. Or is there not the draw of hanging at the mall in other parts of the country? And I take offense to the comment "white faced Americans", just as I do to Washington "Redskins" and other superficial descriptors that one would hope were in the past.

I can't recall now). She is without question one of the best amateurs in Korea right now, so it will be cool to see her at the Open!

Do you think there might be more Americans of Asian descent living in the LA area than some parts of the country - thus the large number in the qualifier? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Los_AngelesAssuming the above is accurate. 11% Asian. Then why are there not more Hispanics and Caucasians in this So Cal qualifier? I guess they give free golf lessons when the Asians sign up for piano lessons...lol. Hmmmm...I'm Chinese....oh wait...I play golf too (40+ years).....but no I don't play the piano.....but I'm good at math....lol.

Alison Lee just tweeted she made it....Congrats. Pretty amazing considering she was likely up at 5am on Monday....played a few holes...then waited at an airport....hopped on a plane....likely got 4-5 hours sleep tops last night....no previously practice rounds...and played 36 holes.
Although it was a weak field....the book makers likely gave her maybe 30/70 odds...it certainly was not a given.
Oh BTW...the other gal who qualified in Alison's tweet pic....guess???...yup an Asian.....lol.

I am predicting a victory for her. She is the only player on tour who could possibly replace Se Ri as the premier personality on tour. So Yeon is a fit golfer who has a great personality and a lot of talent. Inbee Park is six points away from LPGA Hall of Fame. There are many Koreans delivering great play on tour. Sei Young Kim is turning a lot of heads with her play, and Hyo Joo Kim soon will too. I hope to see Q Baek and Ha Na Jang perform well this season to make this rookie race even more interesting. I would also like to see some Korean LPGA veterans challenge at tournaments. So Yeon Ryu deserves attention by the media for her great play, but so do Inbee and Sei Young. Ryu is not yet dominant so I think she shouldn't be the face of Korean golf. Putting too much value on looks and body image hurts the women's tour and sportswomen. Just sharing my thoughts. Thanks. South Korean golfers have earned their places near the top of the game, and I hope to see them get the attention they deserve this season and future seasons.

Inbee is without question the face of Korean golf in Korea, and Hyo Joo Kim is nearly as popular. I do feel So Yeon is in the same league as they are talentwise, and she has a ton of charisma to boot. But she needs to figure out how to get out of her own way. Her win to top ten ratio is one of the saddest on the LPGA. She's had nearly 50 top tens since joining the tour and only two wins. Players like Mirim Lee have the same number of wins with far fewer top tens. If she can get over that hump she could be huge.

Weather must have been an issue with the Boynton Beach sectional as it took two days to complete. Simin and Cindy Feng, Vicky Hurst and Ju Young Park didn't stick around for the conclusion after opening with rounds in the 70s; turns out that you needed to go low on this track to have a chance.Quail Ridge Country Club - South Course, Boynton Beach, FL

That's a crazy amount of players that bailed after one day.
Looks the The Mini rocket is headed back to the KLPGA in 2016....oh well...at least I'll get to fanboy her in Van City this year.
