We all hope tournaments will be played at Augusta type of courses every week; but it's what it's.
From competition standpoint, it doesn't make any differences. Every player plays the same course every week, the player with the best score wins.
I've seen this course many times....it's a good private.....even at 6380 yds it's rated at 71.2/132....it's also a great layout for viewing as many greens and tee blocks are close by for ease of maximum enjoyment.
I play often at Swaneset which is similarity rated....but Swaneset is such a much more difficult test....and visually more intimidating with more hazards and fescue.
FYI...they switched the 9's for this event...they should play it at par 71 vs. dumbing it down to a par 72. They play the 7th hole as a par 5...but the scorecard is a par 4.
But ya...at the end of the day...all the players play the same course.
I also like watching the planes fly by and every now and then .....you'll all see military jets fly by.
Marine Drive here has a reciprocal with Columbia Edgewater.
Military planes were very cool today. Everybody seemed to have an eagle putt at seven.
Too bad you love your dog so much Putt, this place is a lot fun. I drove from Phoenix so not sure why Vancouver is so such a tough to drive.im mean it's been four years you are do for a Columbia Edgewater appearance.
No borders in my drive and I got to see the incredible Moab, Utah.
Also you could have flown 3-Putt and put your dog in a doggie hotel.
Yup, the LPGA dumb downed the course when Cheyenne & Cindy LaCrosse are 1 stroke off the lead....the par 3's are being played up ....as I'm sure as with many other holes too. These gals can easily handle a course over 6600 yards...so play it that way...especially at this event when the course is baked out cause the weather is always hot in August in Portland.
You are so negative. Portland is about positively Mr. 3-Putt.
Well it's time for my annual LPGA visit, although it will be a sort of abbreviated one. I'm doing my usual first off the first tee group every day but that's it as I've taken a second job (at the airport) and can't stay past about 4pm. You probably will find me sleeping around the 15th green after my round though as bucking freight all evening takes it out of me. I'll just hop to the airport from the course. But I'll get my reports in. Seems photobucket won't let me link anymore so I will try something else to post photos, who knows. Vernon!!! Gotta see you, I'll be looking. Happy, you coming?

Nice to hear from you again. Looking forward to hearing about Julie Yang!
I'm not going this year, which is too bad, because it would have been epic getting a chance to see In Gee tackle this course. I bet she's going to love playing there! But I just figured there were going to be only a handful of my faves in the field, so I didn't schedule a trip... Joke's on me!
EDIT: yup, In Gee loves the course so much she's hugging the trees. (see her in the lower corner?)
You know the LPGA set-up Columbia Edgewater as a pitch and putt when Nasa shoots -5......WTF. I've seen 1st hand in years past where they have played the course up to 200 yds shorter than the posted yardage.
Hopefully Vern, Ol_68, bravedave or TV will tell/show us if there are any FLYING DUMBO'a attending this week.
Had a surprise rain shower here in the Seattle area. It was glorious! Reaching temps in the upper 80's here in September is simply unnatural.
I'm about all packed. I'm going to bring my stuff with me to work then hopefully I'll leave about 1 to make the drive down to Portland.
I'll have on new balance shoes with green laces. I turn off my phone at the event but text me early and we can watch a few holes together. Beers are only 5 bucks which is nice. Burgers at 2 are to die for.
Putt there are a whole host of caddie changes that you'll find interesting. Guess who's on Yani's bag? Time to go to bed. I love being retired. Hint, JH.
This is a course that they can set up tough if they want to. Hole 14, 16 and 17 can be brutal at times. I didn't get a chance to watch today, but it seems like the conditions were not super tough.
Not a lot of Sisters on the top of the leaderboard, except, of course, for IN GEE! Great to see her maintain her form from last week. This is the kind of course I think she should thrive on, and if they would give us a few tough pin positions on the weekend, even moreso. I just hope we don't have any drivable par 4s...
Alas, So Yeon's putter was ice cold. She hit it far, hit a lot of greens, and made pretty much nothing. Better luck tomorrow!
The South Korean player tied for third last week in the Canadian Pacific Women's Open and has four runner-up finishes this season. Both of her LPGA Tour victories have come in majors -- the 2015 U.S. Women's Open and the 2016 Evian Championship. "I have not been able to win, but I think it was a strong finish," Chun said. "Sometimes I had small stress from that part. ... Just keep going, enjoying the process."
Luv it...Ms. Pouty Face whips her ball into the pond on 18....LMAO...she's so likable. Why wouldn't she just hand it to a kid...and Yanks think Koreans are killing the tour....lol.
Daniel Kang has a very fun, intelligent and mature personality and a great back story with the 2 US Am wins. Thankfully she'll be on TV, interviews and Caddieknowsbest now.
We sat through a mountain of coverage of Americans who hid behind sunglssses, ktape, you name it, who never made golf look fun.
The criteria should be weighted more toward a players vibe and aura, not out of contention fame that might pick up a crossover viewer but torturers your dedicated viewers.
Rant over
Not sure if you saw this D. Kang interview regarding the USWA...considering her accomplishments, her first sentence at 0:29 was a little startling:
