Well it's time for my annual LPGA visit, although it will be a sort of abbreviated one. I'm doing my usual first off the first tee group every day but that's it as I've taken a second job (at the airport) and can't stay past about 4pm. You probably will find me sleeping around the 15th green after my round though as bucking freight all evening takes it out of me. I'll just hop to the airport from the course. But I'll get my reports in. Seems photobucket won't let me link anymore so I will try something else to post photos, who knows. Vernon!!! Gotta see you, I'll be looking. Happy, you coming?

Portland need to up the purse and find a better date. The pros would love this event....Portland is really a great city, no sales tax, the course is 5 minutes away from the airport and there are so many really nice and economical hotels to choose from..again all within 5 minutes........ and the Columbia River is walking distance away from the course. Ten years ago, the purse was $1.7 million. With inflation, the purse should be up to around $2 million, instead it's down to $1.3 million. Sad!

First of all maybe you should change your name to mr. know it all. I prefer the resident expert.

www.lpga.com/tournaments/cambia-portland-classic/pairingsThere are so many garbage pairings.....Dumbo playing with Mick Jagger & Austin? ??...WTF. Brooke playing with Yani & Mirim? ??...huh. OK...they got one pairing right...and it's about time. Cheatin Lexi can finally tell SYR face to face to give her the ANA trophy because she's the DESERVING WINNER....and because some Korean friend of SYR purposefully delayed sending an email to LPGA HQ a day late.....nuff said.

Gulbis is such a deserving sponsor invite....she has Tom M (the tournament director in her back pocket).

I attended MJ's 2009 victory at Pumpkin Ridge. Can a Seoul Sister make it 6 tournaments in a row? I don't believe Brooke will come out on top this time around.
If you are attending, be prepared. The temps will be in the 90's once again as the Summer From Hell continues. Ol' 68, I'm glad you'll carry for the first groups so you won't melt in the sun.

A few years ago, Safeway sponsored this tourney and it was going gangbusters. I literally came home from tourneys with sacks of free food. Then they pulled out and whoa, this tourney almost folded. Cambia stepped up for the minimum, (1.3M$) and saved it. Don't know about you but I'd much rather have that scenario than what happened in Seattle with Safeco. Sad, yeah, let's see where this goes. On other tourney subjects, it's going to be great weather here this weekend, and I for one do not think this is a "summer from hell" with the sunshine for what, 60 straight days now here. This last Spring we had 90+ straight days of rain so in my book we have 30 more days to go to get even. I'll take it. And if watching on TV, it may be a bit hazy from all the smoke from the forest fires in southern Oregon. Has Christie Kerr changed her persona? I've been a non-LPGA guy recently, but I happened to be watching the Canadian open and I saw on TV last week she threw a ball to a kid. I spit up a bit, I was so surprised. The only time I have come in direct contact with Miss Kerr at the Portland Tourney, she was the cut and dried definition of a "good walk spoiled". Or maybe she just despised older, bald, white guys carrying score signs. Hummm, maybe I'll just offhand say hi if I see her this weekend and find out myself. Anybody remember Kimberly Kim? I came across the t-shirt she autographed for me way back when she won the Amateur at Punkin Ridge, while tidying up my closet recently. Still signed Kim squared. Wonder what happened to her? I do remember seeing her out on Tour when this tourney was over at Punkin a few years ago. Always liked her. Like me, was good in High School I guess, and downhill from there. Was good to see Jane Park had a good showing last week, too. She's a real treat to walk with, have had her several times. Go Jane. To start off my 15th year doing this tourney, I'm first off the first tee tomorrow at 7:15am with Jessy Tang, Julie Yang, and Pavarsia Yoktuan. Three complete unknowns to me, hope somebody shoots 66. Will try and post again tomorrow. -ol'68

I'm not going this year, which is too bad, because it would have been epic getting a chance to see In Gee tackle this course. I bet she's going to love playing there! But I just figured there were going to be only a handful of my faves in the field, so I didn't schedule a trip... Joke's on me! EDIT: yup, In Gee loves the course so much she's hugging the trees. We're waiting for the LPGA to make a Korea vs. event?
I'm surprised a Korean company isn't trying to take their best 12 against the rest of the world. That would do a huge TV number just over there. Pay the players and they'd all show.

She's the best student in the Paula Creamer School of Acting....Kerr, Creamer and Wie know when the cameras are around and all put on a phony prissy act....anyone who watches these gals play need to have their heads examined. No doubt that Kerr looks down upon you...especially an old guy who volunteers to go out early with all the SCRUBS. 3) A wash-out nowadays. 4) Have fun dew sweeping with the early tee time POSERS.
