Mell is a coward and a PINK SHIRT.....basically takes a rip at Whan then does a MAJOR suck-up to Whan later in the article...WTF. You know Whan has already given Mell a TONGUE LASHING over the phone and Mell knows he won't have to meet up with Whan face to face until the CME cause GIC is too cheap to send Mell to Asia cause no one cares about women's golf. I expect in 2018...Mell will be demoted and be the dedicated Symetra tour cub reporter for GIC....we might even get some articles written by Mell featuring Larry the Looper ventures on the Symetra tour. This is a co-sanctioned event...why has the LGU not been mentioned in last week's part decisions. I think Mell read the comments on ss.com and WRX and decided he NEEDED to write this article....but he is SELFISH....why didn't he give Stacy any credit...she helped him write the report.

I made it through IRMA and got to watch the last five minutes of the fake major. Six plus days without power. Surprised that both Comcast and AT&T were still on. Dennis: Glad to hear from you?...where are you located? Did you suffer much damage?...I hope not. 6 days is a long time to be off the grid....I find it boring if we have 6 hr power outages....and if it's a planned outage....I got out and play golf.

PGA season practically is over when the PGA Championship is crowned; the same with Evian Championship for LPGA.
It doesn't matter what In Gee does the rest of the year; a major-less winter will be doubly tough to deal with. Of course, a win or two will sweeten the pot a little be.

LMAO.....I see fanofseri's crack pipe made its back your way. LPGA season isn't over....the Asia Swing and the CME are a big thing for the LPGA and the pros....I will pretty well guarantee the top 70 LPGA pros will be playing 3-4 events from now until Nov. But after East Lake & NYC....you won't see many, if any, of the big REAL tour stars teeing it up for the remainder of this year. Now that Nelly and Nasa have completely GAG/CHOKED....I guess you have nothing else but to slather about Dumbo. You should start a blog like TonyJ's site in Jan-Apr 2018. In Gee is like all the other Korean PRETENDERS...I hope CYBORG doesn't follow in the same footsteps....she better contact MANNIKA for a good JUICE program.

This is a fairly well written article with a lot of interesting points to make. I think it comes down to this: This is the entire crux of the issue. If you declare a tournament a Major, then you MUST treat it with the respect of a Major. That means 72 holes. That means you play it on a Major-worthy course. That means you set the date of the tournament to coincide with playable weather, not at a time of year where rain is common. Evian gets the benefit of being able to tout that they sponsor a Major. But that should be the limit of their influence. They should not be able to dictate the way the event is played like they obviously did (no matter what Whan says). I also like that someone in the comments called out Mell's boosterism about Whan and the Asians. This really sums it up: Has Whan done a lot? To be sure. But those two critical elements of the success of the tour basically only required Whan to not be an idiot to take advantage. He passed that low bar. But I'm not ready to give him a medal for that.

Whan always struck me as being overrated. He took over at the low point of the global financial crisis and presided during one of the longest economic expansions in history. Whan deserves credit for capitalizing on that but the increase in purses and events was inevitable.
All you need to know about Whan is evident in every interview with him. The sponsors are the all-important "check writers" and fealty must be paid. And he always refers to the athletes as "my players." Aside from the sexist nature of that comment (Can you imagine the PGA Tour commissioner referring to "my players?") it implies that they report to him and are only there to do his bidding. With this attitude is it any wonder that the sponsors run the show in the LPGA?

This is a fairly well written article with a lot of interesting points to make. I think it comes down to this: My beef with Whan and the LPGA is they don't do ANYTHING cool. No partner event? WAAAAHT? No pick your own 4 friend team event or something. No beat the pro like the euros just did. Whan is an operator. They need one of those middle aged guys that wears matte gray glasses and turtlenecks that's an IDEA MAN. Or whatever the disputer fashion stereotype is for an IDEA WOMAN.

Is Rancho Mirage a major worthy course? I think it's decent, but certainly not major caliber. The KPMG has been played on some fairly mediocre pitch and putts, as has the WBO.
Is April the best time of the year in Augusta, GA? The Masters has had its share of crummy weather, but nobody considers moving it. Likewise, The Open Championship has more than its share of sh*tty weather, but folks just shrug and say, "Play on".
The LPGA is not in, and will likely never be in, a position to dictate all the terms of their tournaments, including the majors. Personally, I think the Evian is played on a fine course. Beautiful views. Tough greens. Thick rough. Sure, it would be great to move it to July, but if not, then the players will simply have to deal with it.

Mr. 3 putt I'm located in Greater Fort Lauderdale. Only had some minor tree damage in the backyard. Nothing that a chainsaw can't fix. No house damage. Thanks for your concern.

Heekyong destroying everybody in the golf channel comments section all year is probably a top 5 LPGA moment this year.
All the men's rights activists, America firsters and "golf fans" that don't think women hit it far enough just get smoked by my man.

But those two critical elements of the success of the tour basically only required Whan to not be an idiot to take advantage. He passed that low bar. But I'm not ready to give him a medal for that. That's why the women's majors are FAKE....they rely on corporate sponsors to exist....and because it's their money...they can call the shots. And if not for the USO and the TV contract the USGA secured for the USO....the purse for the USWO would be $1M.....I doubt the USWO breaks even as a stand-alone event. The USGA is only paying women's golf lip service...most tracks they play are cow pastures....they can't even bother to get the gals to play on public courses like Peeble or Bethpage Black. The men have basically made many of the great private US courses obsolete...one would think the USGA could negotiate that the USWO be played on more top US courses. Yup...it wasn't hard to build on Biven's FAILURES....and it was Bivens who negotiated the GC contract (not Whan) so can see many hours of women's golf coverage. It's a JOKE that many Yanks call the LPGA..... an US based tour....LMAO 25 of the 33 LPGA events have international based sponsors involved. If Whan was such a great salesman...why couldn't he secure a US based sponsor for the ANA.....it's the Japanese that had to save his sorry butt......the KNC's contract was in jeopardy for many years....if he was able secure a sponsor well before 2014...the 2 HORNDOGS of the Evian would not have been able to shove a gun down Whan's mouth. And sadly, Whan admitted he would have put up the money for the 2014 ANA if the Japanese weren't writing the cheques.
