It will take place Sept. 14-17. Meanwhile, there was some kind of 18-hole qualifying tournament (59 players) in Korea on Monday and these four passed the test: Yu Na Kim(A) 67 Hye Jin Choi(A) 68 Do Yeon Kim 68 Eun Jeong Seong(A) 68 It's not clear if these four are in the tournament, or if it only advances them to Stage 2, which is an 18-hole qualifier on July 31 (4 spots up for grabs, same course). Then there is a final qualifier (course TBD) on August 8 and one player will be chosen. The thought of Cyborg and Junior being required to qualify for this fraudulent major is ridiculous.

The article that said Hye Jin Choi would make her pro debut at the KLPGA's Hanwha Classic also said that she will play Evian, so I guess she really made it. Leona Maguire also got an invite. The final four "wildcards" were announced this week: www.evianchampionship.com/news/all-news/detail-news/news/detail/News/get-to-know-our-4-wildcards/The Evian Championship organization committee has just awarded the last wildcards. After awarding the “Rolex Girls Junior Player of the Year 2016 “, Thai amateur Paphangkorn Tavatanakit, the amateur hopefuls Albane Valenzuela (Switzerland), world n°3, and Agathe Laisné (France), recent winner of the European Championship, along with Natalie Gulbis, winner of the Evian Masters 2007, received a wildcard. They join the field of 120 top players at the 5th and final major of the season (14-17 September 2017). Paphangkorn Tavatanakit
Thai amateur (Aged 17) First appearance at The Evian Championship Paphangkorn “Patty” Tavatanakit (aged 17) won her ticket for the Evian Championship 2017 through her Rolex Girls Junior Player of the Year 2016 title. The UCLA college player and Thai number 1 amateur, had already showed what she was made of in 2014 at the Callaway Junior World Championship where she shot an incredible 60 (-12), an amazing feat. Albane Valenzuela
Swiss amateur (Aged 19) 2 appearances at The Evian Championship (2015, 2016) After representing Switzerland at the 2016 Rio Olympics where she performed well to finish 21st, Albane began studying at the prestigious Stanford University and is currently 3rd in the amateur world rankings. A bike accident in March forced her to withdraw from the ANA Inspiration but she has since returned to competition with her motivation sky high. She finished runner-up at the Ladies’ European Championship in Lausanne at the end of July. Agathe Laisné
French amateur (Aged 18) 1 appearance at The Evian Championship (2015) The RCF player has just achieved an incredible feat by toppling the favorite, Albane Valenzuela, who held a 8-shot lead, to take the title of Ladies’ European Champion, 5 years after her compatriot Céline Boutier. Prior to recently graduating from high school (with honors), she shone at the qualifiers for the US Women's Amateur (7 to 13 August), finishing 1st, and will now take part in the event for the second time. Natalie Gulbis
USA (Aged 34) 11 appearances at The Evian Championship, winner in 2007 Natalie Gulbis, who turned pro in 2001 and players on the LPGA Tour since 2002, is one of the champions who has marked the history of Evian with her fantastic win in 2007. Three times Solheim Cup winner with Team US (2005, 2007 and 2009), the champion returns to take on the top players.

On Aug. 14 the Facebook page of this event posted the pic below and said Evian "will welcome the TOP 40 on the Rolex Rankings." Does that mean all these players are guaranteed to show up? I hope so.

The LET website posted a field of 120 players. It includes recent USWA winner Sophia Schubert, as well the first two finishers in the last Symetra event, Brittany Marchand and Marion Ricordeau. While the Rolex Top-40 was exempt for this tournament, it appears that the only non-LPGAer in that group accepting the invitation is Hye Jin Choi. Poor Smokeshow, she is the 19th alternate.

The purse was increased to $3.65 million this year; making it the second largest after USWO.
The winner will get $547,500, more than the winner's share at CME Group Tour Championship.

The LET website still shows M. Wie in the field...obviously that could change as she recovers from her operation. The next alternate is Bronte Law.

I was wondering that maybe the reason why the JLPGA and KLPGA players play in US majors not Evian was distance. However South Korea is 5,794 miles from France and 6,444 from the USA. So I guess distance wasn't the reason. I can also rule out weather because the weather is not much of a factor. So it just must be the time of year or none of the above.

Didn't Hyo Joo Kim win 2014 Evian as a KLPGA player; also, In Gee missed cut in 2015?

Most of the KLPGA's biggest events are in the Fall. We had a Major last week and another this week.

A subtle adjustment was made to Evian field on the LET website, but it's still not final. It shows 119 names and Wie is still on it. Are they saving a spot for the Indy winner? Current top alternates: 1 Sandra CHANGKIJA USA 2 Jaye Marie GREEN USA 3 Sun Young YOO KOR 4 Bronte LAW ENG Smokeshow has fallen to 20th on the list.

The cut was at +5.

First you predicted that Nelly would compete with Sung Hyun for ..Rookie of The Year. Now you are predicting that the same Sung Hyun could be number one for five to eight years. Are you doing a little bandwagon jumping, or what? Also In Gee got the best of Sung Hyun on the KLPGA tour. She didn't start winning there until after In Gee left.

I feel no shame in picking Nelly; nobody other than myself would've picked her to be leading Madelene Sagstrom in ROY race. Sung Hyun has outplayed In Gee in 2017 thus far; In Gee has only nine more tournaments to redeem herself.
