Even though I was distraught by Terminator's collapse, I was baffled by Lexi's marking the ball. It's a shame I was below the hole so I can't claim I saw her cheating live only on tv. When will Whan announce her suspension?

Am I the only one who is not looking at this necessarily from a racial angle ?
Let's say a gambler saw the infraction on Saturday. Then put in a considerable bet on the closest chasers. Wait until the back 9 on Sunday and emailed in.
The timing of the callin/email was unprecedented in golf. And very fishy. That's why the LPGA owes us all a complete disclosure, which is what this article about.
It may not be about white or yellow, but GREEN ?

The identity of the caller is immaterial. He or she did not create footage of the incident. The rule-breach was captured and broadcast in its entirety on TV on Saturday.

To be clear I didn't mean the article had any racial component. It's the golfing reader/viewership at large. If someone wants to say it's more about popularity than race that's fine. Either way it's bias. I don't think a lot of them know that players mis-mark their ball on purpose. That's why golf betting is so easy. You just watch real closely for blatant rules infractions and sit on it for a couple days. Happens ALL the time. It's an interesting hypothetical but I don't think it matters. The onus has to be on the player. She should have known her ball was misplaced, without a doubt, so she deserved the 4 strokes anyway. And consider the time it takes to go from the 18th green to the scorers tent to sign a card. I bet it's been done in under 5 minutes (took me 10 seconds in my "competitive" golf days). If a violation was spotted on the 18th green it probably won't get to rules officials until after the scorecard is signed. That and other reasons is why the cutoff is at the end of the event, not the round. This article was about page views for Mell.

And any chance there was of this viewer ever coming out to be interviewed about why she notified the officials late was torched by the golf "journalists" who labeled her as the villain.

Not asking for the person to come out. Just need to hear his side of the story from LPGA. That means the LPGA has done their due diligence. That's all I am asking for as a fan. Even if the explanation from the guy says he was playing golf with the Dalai Lama on Saturday and didn't have internet access until Sunday. I can live with that.

Not completely disagreeing with you here. But golf is unique in this way that an outsider can affect the outcome. The fans has the right to know what stake does that person hold in the outcome of the event. In Ana Norquist case, it was a Fox camera man, who had an responsibility to report to his boss anything of interest that he captures. My future wife was once DQed after being called out by Sports Illustrated's Micheal Bamberger.

Come on people...WAKE UP...if you think the background of the caller is immaterial...get your head out of the sand. There would be a HUGE firestorm if indeed the caller is Korean. Whan's hose isn't large enough to put out that fire.
With all the backlash against the Koreans on the LPGA...likely all the 8 events sponsored by Korean based companies will early terminate their sponsorships and it will be so uncomfortable for the Koreans to play on the LPGA...they'll all quit and head home for the KLPGA.

1) I re-read the article and got something wrong -- the spokesman for Thompson was an agent, not a lawyer. My mistake! But the argument still stands: this guy is clearly speaking for her, so I'm assuming anything he says matches her opinion until I hear otherwise. 2) Just one more thing. The penalty was assessed when Thompson was on the 12th hole, but it was called in over an hour before that. At that point, Thompson I think had only a one shot lead over Pettersen, with Inbee and So Yeon Ryu in hot pursuit. It was certainly not a done deal that Thompson would continue to lead at that point -- so why call in? Wouldn't a Thompson hater think that maybe she would naturally fall away and the seven time Major winner chasing her would assert control? Gad, trying to make sense of this foolishness is too hard, even as a joke! 1) Bobby K of Blue Giraffe not only owns BG...but is also a lawyer too....Lexi is his star pupil. www.bluegiraffesports.com/about/meet-the-team2) Lexi was at -16 after 12....a 2 shot lead over Tutta & Minjee, and SYR @ -13 and Winbee at -12 at the time. The Korean author of the email needed all the help they could get...so he/she started typing the email.

It will be interesting to follow Lexi closely this coming week. Does she turn everything into positive energy and blow the field away or does she drag herself through the motions and never contend.

I really do not care about how Lexi feel. She is the one who broke the rule, she is not a victim. She cheated and got caught, end of story. I am beginning to hope 3putt wins the bet.
She still had a chance to win, but lost.

Yup...Loosie Lexi cheated. If one watches the video...Lexi walks up to her ball and looks like she's gonna tap it in. She looks down and hesitates for a slight moment...she must have seen something. Bends down to mark her ball...and without standing up to see if it clean....she keeps bent down and aligns the ball but marks it back in a different position to likely avoid a small imperfection in the green. For those that mark your ball....don't you normally mark it...stand up and wait....or if you want to proceed...you advise your playing partner(s) you want to finish (normal playing etiquette) ...put the ball down..pick up your coin and then finish. Have I marked my ball and then placed it a bit away...yup...cause I'm too lazy to fix a ball mark that might affect my putt, etc. Heck....I've lifted my ball 100's of times without placing a mark down to clean and wipe my ball. I'm a cheater.....playing those 25 cent skin matches. Oh ya...and I also play lift, clean & CHEAT in our winter muck slop. And when playing on my own...I also at times....don't take out the pin to putt out or have picked up 18" putts.

My future wife was once DQed after being called out by Sports Illustrated's Micheal Bamberger. Show me one place in the rules where it prevents a person who has a stake in the result of a competition from calling a rules infraction. Heck, it clearly allows the *competitors* to police each other, and they certainly have a big stake in the outcome. So if Inbee could call an infraction on Thompson, when she will directly benefit, why can't some gambler? Or Ryu's grandmother? Or Bamberger? It's just a dodge to change the topic from the real issue, which is that Thompson broke the rules and (seemingly) refuses to graciously accept that.
